Savor Me Slowly #3 Alien Huntress Gena Showalter
Pages: 384
How it fits: Page 2 - Popular Futuristic Romance Shelf
Read: March 13
Rating: ★★★✰
Review:
This is the third book in the Alien Huntress series and unfortunately I felt it didn't live up to the previous two books.
I never really connected with either of the main characters and wasn't caught up in their HEA. Unfortunately there was a lot of "I just got an important phone call and we have to go and rescue someone but wait let's have sex first" moments which really annoyed me.
The other thing I didn't like was the complete reversal in character of the main character from the first book when I initially fell in love with series. She was a totally different person then to now and unfortunately not in a good way.
I did like the virus plot and the introduction of an overall series arc at least that is what I am hoping for as there were a lot of unresolved plot lines.

Review:
Oh, bleep.
Evie has left the International Paranormal Containment Agency (IPCA) for a normal life. She is attending high school and has her own locker (something she longed for in the first book.) However, Evie finds that a normal life is not all that it is cracked up to be. Lend is away at college which puts a strain on their relationship. Enter Raquel from IPCA and Evie's life changes again.
Where do I begin? "Oh, bleep" may be the best that I can say. The first book in the series was smart and refreshing. This installment was almost like an irritating younger sibling. I felt that Evie whined throughout the entire book. I really struggled to find the Evie that I loved in Paranormalcy. Lend was a bit of a nag and just blah. Pesky Reth was just about the only character that I enjoyed. The introduction of Jack as a non fairy who can use fairy doorways had potential but fell a bit short of the mark.
I struggled to finish this book. The storyline did not keep me glued to the pages. It was just simply ok. I don't think that I will continue with the next book.

Thanks Sandra! I don't know how I missed that! No worries...The Darkest Touch was a great book and I'm rereading Lover Eternal now for another challenge! =)

Review:
I did not like this book. I did not like that after the initial meeting the hero, Adrian mind rapes the heroine and that is not too strong a phrase. He deliberately uses his power to coerce her mind in the direction he wants. His justification is to relax her so he can have sex with her or for her to tell him her personal life story. Amber is a witch and realises he is doing something but justifies it to herself by thinking "it is only Adrian and he wouldn't hurt me." She met him twelve hours before.
The words Immortal and Demigod were used way too many times. As a reader I only need to be told once that he is an immortal warrior. The plot was messy with way too much telling and lots of convenient coincidences. It is an early Jennifer Ashley, that lacks the clarity and cohesiveness of writing style found in her later Shifters Unbound series.

Review I don’t think I have ever met a heroine I have disliked...OK, fine...loathed all while loving her strength and loyalty as the Red Queen. At first meet, Keeley comes off as brash and bratty. While I feel for her very long-term imprisonment, I hated how her single-minded thoughts of Torin were to destroy him even while he was truly regretful and destroyed by his actions. As for Torin, I have been waiting quite some time to read his story. He, like Kane, is a Lord of the Underworld, but still apart from the group at large because of the demons they host. Unlike Kane, Torin is further ostracized because he is the keeper of Disease. I loved watching Torin take his warrior self out for a spin time and time again. He is one of the more “tame Lords, but as this book goes on, Torin shines with his fierce protectiveness of Keeley. Together, these two are explosive and exacerbating! The sparks between them come straight off the page, while their banter back and forth while they try to deny what is growing between them made me want to smack them both. Keeley takes some getting used to...but I think she is well worth it! I’m looking forward to seeing these two in future installments.

Great review - I read the first for Shelf One but decided it was too close to read the second for Shelf Two. I regret that now as my choice was a real dud! How is the series overall?

I really enjoy it! There is a lot going on, but somehow Ms. Showalter does an amazing job of reigning it all in. Kane's story is the only one I haven't truly enjoyed. I figure, at this point, 1 out of 11 isn't bad! =)

I agree...I was sucked in from the start! The first two books were amazing and I just kept on going from there! After finishing this book, I have only two left that are currently published...another book is due out later this year...but I did find a spin-off series to jump into! =)

sorry everybody had a less than stellar week...but tomorrow is shelf day so there is a whole new week of possibilities!

Review:
This book was soo close to being a 2.5 but I gave it extra points because I love Jessica Sorenson and the many other books and series of hers that I have read.
This story started out ok. The characters were just ok and I got in to it. I wanted to know what was going on, what was about to happen but then it just kinda stalled out. It got to the point where the story would move two paces forward and then five paces backwards. It became annoying when it seemed like every other chapter the dialogue between Kayla and Aiden basically boiled down to "I'm sorry I lied to you, I promise nothing but honesty from now on". Wash, rinse, repeat. I don't think I will finish this series, but who knows.
I have nothing but love for every other book/series that I have read by Jessica Sorenson.

I'm thinking that it may have been one of her earlier books because it reminded me nothing of her current books/series I have read

Yeah. I am currently reading Patricia Briggs' debut novel and wow good, but so different from Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega.

I have some of Patty's early stuff on my shelf that I have never read. I need to do that.

DNF - I struggled through to 40% but I was skipping more than reading.

Review This was a cute book, even it if was pretty predictable. Nick and Alexa are very strong, independent people, but entering into a fake marriage could try the patience of a saint. Their time together made me laugh, cry, and want to smash things against either of their heads.

REVIEW:
I love me some Logan and Tate! I had been away from the series for awhile and this was the perfect book for me to reconnect with the boys. This book takes place four years after the previous book in the series. The boys are really just reconnecting with each other after getting stuck in a rut. Not a lot else is really happening. Still great writing and great chemistry between Logan and Tate. Can't wait to finish the series.

Shelf 3: PART OF A SERIES
Judgement in Death by J.D. Robb

Read: 03.25.18
Rating: 5 stars
Review:
She stood in Purgatory and studied death.
Eve is called to the scene of a rather horrific murder. She soon discovers that the victim is a police officer who has been moonlighting as a bartender in a strip club owned by her husband, Roarke.
This series gets better with each book! The twists and turns with the police officers (good and bad), IAB and crazy underworld bosses is incredible. Eve has to worm her way through the truth and the lies in order to catch a killer.
This book brings up a lot of Roarke's past "business" dealings. A former associate is at the root of the plot and he is not afraid to use his madness to taunt Eve.
Eve and Roarke have a huge misunderstanding that creates a great deal of miscommunication. We have seen Roarke's previous playmates in earlier books, but the storyline of Eve's former lover provides major tension.
Roarke shows his alpha male side in this book and sometimes it is not pretty. He is commanding, chauvinistic and almost cold. You know that a book is well written when you are yelling at the characters (because you know they can hear every word!)
Eve is so accustomed to being on her own and fending for herself. I'm glad that she has finally had an epiphany that she is not alone.
I tend to read these books so fast that I go back the next day and read back through it just to pick up certain things that I missed in my eagerness to get to the next chapter.
A highly recommended series!
