Thanks again, Teri. :)

yes, I'll do Freckles for the dog

message 755: by Teri (new)

Teri | 678 comments Okay, I looked and I cannot buy Freckles, it doesn't seem to be available anywhere, I will keep looking to fill the slot

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments The tasks are currently all assigned then :)

I'm in the middle of reading a re-read of Stolen from Women of the Otherworld series. It's been a few years since my first read of it, so it qualifies. Love this series.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I'm not sure what happened by I'm not finished with Breaking Creed yet. I will be before the deadline, but I don't want anything to get messed up if they are looking at dates.

I love that series as well! Did you watch the show they made based on the series?

message 759: by Teri (new)

Teri | 678 comments Okay, I found Rescue Me for the rescue dog/shelter thing...Freckles was ungettable, this is at my library.

Not sure how that mistake happened, but removed it as "read" for now. Sorry about that.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Carrie wrote: "I love that series as well! Did you watch the show they made based on the series? "

I did, and I really liked it. I enjoyed the books better but the storyline in the TV series was also good. Was sad when it was cancelled.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Teri wrote: "Okay, I found Rescue Me for the rescue dog/shelter thing...Freckles was ungettable, this is at my library."

Okay sounds good. I just finished Stolen, about to update that and then head to bed.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Vicki wrote: "Awesome! Thanks so much. :) "

Vicki, thank you for finishing My True Love Gave to Me!

I put it in the spreadsheet for BOM Points and for the 50 bonus points for "8. Read a book where Hanukkah is celebrated (50 points)" I noticed (now) that you had it for a weekly bonus as well (Word in Text) --- we can't have it in both types of bonuses. I'm leaving in the 50 point bonus since that is harder and our goal is to finish the 40 book bonus.

Thanks for finishing the book, it's a huge help

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments It looks like we need to find a very, clearly brown book to replace the previous book for this task -- "Create walls by reading with a brown cover that is between 301 and 500 pages". My apologies for that but there was some change with the previous book being accepted today.

I found a listopia that has some brown books - I can cover if someone else doesn't have time to, we still have several days thankfully

/list/show/2...

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Wednesday Night Update

3 "Scrooges" fully finished, 1 letter away from 4th
1 BOM Complete, 20 bonus points Earned
First word Completion 15 Bonus Points Earned
1 of 4 Weekly Bonuses Completed (2 Unclaimed)

Mini Challenge

23 Tasks Completed
730 Bonus Points Earned
39/40 Claimed Tasks

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments I found a book to work for "Word on Cover" 40 Point Regular Week Bonus. I'll be reading Saving Mr Scrooge

Do whatever with my books work best for! I always try to add something to one of the bonuses but it doesn't matter to me where it goes as long as it helps the team out. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments It looks like my brown book isn't accepted either, at least by one vote so far. I think they mainly aren't accepting light brown or medium brown. To me brown comes in all shades, but almost every light brown gets voted out. :/

A very picky task. We'll keep looking.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments I just submitted another one that should work. We shall see.

Teri | 678 comments hey got a question, with the one that says "the character gets a dog from the shelter", is it the main character or any character? I only ask because I am looking for a shorter book because the Fingersmith is almost 600 pages and I'm not sure I can fit that other book Rescue Me is 304 and I hate to not be able to finish.

As long as it's a character in the book that has a speaking part. It doesn't say main character, just says the character, so I'm assuming it can mean any active character

Teri | 678 comments Okay, thanks, I will get that sorted tomorrow, I’ve made good progress on the other so it should be fine either way.

Teri and Erin, Breaking Creed works for "character gets a dog from a shelter". It's currently without home, as it got rejected as a brown cover. That would free Teri up to read something else if needed.

That sounds good as well - how about you Teri? She read it for another bonus but it ended up not fitting, so we had to remove it when she was almost done with it. That would free you up for another bonus book if needed

Thanks, Cecily. We need a Weekly Bonus for a book that has "Scrooge" in the text. If you want a bonus task also (or instead) and have something that fits "Read a book with an Christmas ornament on the cover of a book", I haven't started my book yet for that one. Just let me know, otherwise was going to start tomorrow.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Great news, everyone!

I think this is our strongest week, and I don't mean just because of the Mini Challenge. This is the earliest we've had this many points JUST for books read. I was off four days so was able to double my reading pretty much. Everyone has stepped up and put out a lot of books, most of our members have either stayed consistent or doubled their output this week already. It's impressive! We are definitely finishing on our strongest note.

Tonight I finished a Weekly Bonus (Scrooge on Cover) and 'Gone' for the Green Book that is over 500 pages for the Mini Challenge. Tomorrow I'm going to focus on Sunblind for Brown on the Cover, and Snowblind for Snow on the cover. Odd how alike those titles are! I'm also hoping to finish my re-read of Industrial Magic by late tomorrow - it doesn't fit bonuses of any kind, but I got hooked into the series this week and it's a nice extra 60 point book.

Right now for Weekly Bonuses we have 2 of 4 Completed
We have 1 of 2 BOM's complete
We have 27 of 40 Christmas Mini Bonus Completed
We have so far finished eleven O's for tough letter total

Great reading this week, all! We still have tonight, all day tomorrow, and part of Saturday. We can do this :)

If you think you aren't going to finish a book, please let us know ASAP in this thread so someone can fill in. No shame in it, we just want to make sure we finish as much as possible to end the week. It's been a blast, and a very busy week!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments I moved around our planning sheet a bit. I moved all unfinished books to the top so we can get a clearer sense of missing letters and what to finish as deadline gets nearer.

All completed books have been put together as they have been submitted on the official sheet. Some were moved to fit other letters than where they were originally placed to fit the words.

Hopefully this helps as we keep planning and completing. IF needed, there are more blank spots at the bottom under the finished if a random, new book pops up.

Cecily Black | 1805 comments A Knights Bridge Christmas (Swift River Valley, #5) by Carla Neggers <---- This for Scrooge in the text, google books says it has it 5 times. I will be listening to audiobook.

Maybe This Christmas (Colorado Ice, #3) by Jennifer Snow <----- This has christmas ornaments on the tree in the background. I should be able to finish them both but I will read the "scrooge" one first

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments After updating Stacey's book as finishing the shelter, here's the morning update on the progress for the Mini Challenge

Since it's kind of long, putting in a spoiler tag

(view spoiler)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Just a note: If you finish books you have planned for tasks, or have extra time to read more books, we need "O" books the most at this point. We currently are waiting on an O for an incomplete word, but on the planning sheet most of our blanks for words being worked on are for O's.

Thanks!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Vicki, your dates are not set for the recent books. If they aren't set, we can't count them :(

Please put the start and end dates for the book, for some reason ŷ did not log them

The Young Messiah (Movie tie-in) : A Novel
The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey, #4)
My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories
Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)

Sometimes if you're doing from your phone, it won't put in a finished date correctly. We had this happen with another member this week that I contacted.

Also, I cannot find Dear Martin on your Wheels shelf - could you double check that it's added? Thanks!

Jessi (jazzykitty) | 1644 comments I'm working on mine! It's been a crazy week at work for me so I unfortunately fell behind but I will get them done!

I did finish A Dance with Dragons though!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Great, thanks Jessi :) That's a nice amount of points.

I'll be reading throughout the day, going with friend tonight, and then will check back in and continue reading when I get home. I can sleep in tomorrow so don't have to snooze early.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6267 comments Just a heads up that the Date Read bug/issue is back on ŷ

I saw a thread today in Feedback
/topic/show/...

Please be careful to make sure it's marking your books as read/finish when you finish them, because if the date is not set on the shelf when the deadline comes, then the book will not be able to be counted.

So far I have seen this happen once to Teri, once to Anna, and four times to Vicki. I'm not sure if it's mainly if done by phone, app, kindle or what, but it doesn't hurt to double check

When looking at the shelves, I click settings and "show date read column". It will simply say not set if there is not a date set. Also these books will not count on your yearly challenge either if you do not have a date set.

To set the date yourself, just go to your "review" of the book and manually put in the date read under the review box. Make sure it's still marked "read"

Carrie (carriele1216) | 1220 comments So I took a quick look at my books. Any book I finished on the first day of the month simply has the month. So if I finished on December 1, it says December but if I finished on December 2, it shows as December 2. I can't get mine to show the 1. Is that how it's supposed to be?

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2179 comments QUESTION: I was going to read Scythe (Arc of a Scythe, #1) by Neal Shusterman Scythe which is 435 pages but I realized that I can still do The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein for BOM points. I don't know which would help more, the larger page number or the BOM points, but I'm assuming the BOM. I am getting up at 3:30 AM because hubby has to pull an early shift, so it's possible I could read both; however, just in case I fall back asleep would it be better for our team to read the BOM with only 305 pages? I need input, please. I had put Scythe down for letter S and the BOM's author has an S in her last name, so either book works for the S if we need it.
