R19: Team #4 ~ Quad Squad

Can I use La Belle Sauvage as an ARC for fantasy romance which I finished before joining the team as a stand-by player but started after the shelf was announced?
On that same note, can I use the book I'm currently reading, Elantris, for Magic which I again started after the shelf announcement but before joining the team?

Elantris is good.
Always check the books you've read, checked the tagging/popular list and the date the shelves were called. And hopefully it matches up, then you're all good.

I meant as an Alternative Reader's Choice as it's the first book in a series.
And thank you! Wanted to check as I wasn't sure how things worked being a stand by player and just now entering the challenge.

I’ll post my alt. choice for fantasy-rom later today and should have my magic book done this week.
Is one of you okay stepping in as captain?

Review:
I really enjoyed reading this. I loved being back in the world and the MC Malcolm and story were great. It wasn't perfect. The pacing was sometimes off and it didn't have the magic of His Dark Materials, but that didn't hinder my enjoyment. I was nervous going in as a few people told me they didn't like it as it felt like a filler/set-up novel for the rest of the series. I actually agree with them, but I liked it anyway.

I will sort through the rest of the remaining shelves to be completed and see where we stand and update with a new post.

Let me know if there are any changes.

Cant go wrong with NR. This is the first in the Three Sisters Island trilogy. Mia, and Ripley have always lived on the island and are descendants of witches. Nell comes to the island. She is running from her past and starts a new life on the island. She was in an abusive marriage and faked her death and ran as far as she could. Nell works at Mia's Book Café and the islanders love her meals and so she starts a catering business. Ripley has been denying her participation in witchy business. Ripley is the island deputy and her brother Zach is the Sheriff. Zach and Nell end up in a relationship. There are issues that need to be resolved before they can move on with their future.
I enjoyed it and look forward to the #2 which is Ripley's story.

I'll have my Magic book finished tomorrow and will be reading

This was fantastic! Can't believe it took me so long to read it. I was also told by several people that this was Sanderson's first book and while good, not the best. I don't know why I was given that caveat as it was, as I said, fantastic.
This is a great, politically driven fantasy book with an interesting world and magic system. Not to mention some great characters - Sarene may be a new all-time favorite. I love good politics in my fantasy books, I find it makes the world more rich and real and I'm also just a plain sucker for political intrigue. There were also well developed religions in the world that tied into the political atmosphere and brought the story forward. The story focused mainly on three POVs: Sarene, Raoden and the antagonist Hrathen. All were well developed characters with flaws that made them all the more interesting.
I took me awhile to finish only because I was trying to finish up two other books for challenges. But once I finished those I read about 300 pages of this in a day as I was so absorbed in the story.

how it fits helved 26 times KAH
Review: Yup Sandra this was a KAH story. Loved the battle in the river. I so enjoy this series. Starts out with Mercy and Adam getting married and going on their honey moon. They go camping in a travel trailer. Mercy soon finds out that they are going there to check out some recent incidences that could be fae related. I so enjoyed the Native American aspect of this novel. The writing is just so good

Another fun Thursday read. It took little while for me to get it to the story, but once I did I thoroughly it enjoyed as usual. Fforde's humor and writing style really appeals to me and I love diving back into this world. I particularly liked the multiple Thursday's in this back as well her kids Tuesday and Friday (all versions) (plus the elusive Jenny lol). In fact, I wish there was more of the kids and hope there will be in the next book. I've been spreading the series out quite a bit and in no rush to read the next, but definitely will. This does, however, seem to be one of those series that will remain forever unfinished so I suppose it's just as well that I'm spreading it out.

A solid addition to the series. I liked how the mystery played out; we knew the main suspect/antagonist from the start and I suspected the true killer early on, but I still enjoyed (as usual)the investigation and how Eve pieced everything together. I also liked how this wasn't another serial killer or attacks against woman book - I like the serial killer trope, but it's done a lot in this series and always appreciate a change. That being said, I think this is one of the more forgettable books. In such a long series I hardly expect every book to standout and this just happens to be one of the ones I'll likely forget. Although I will remember (view spoiler) but think I'll just remember it happened and not the book itself.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Victoria & Rosina, Allison Ann will be joining you shortly. I’ve contacted her about stepping in for Fairyland-book and she’ll be checking in shortly.

Allison Ann - welcome to the team....

I'm very sorry for your loss. Wishing you and your family the best during this difficult time.

Thanks Steph!
And welcome to the team Allison Ann :) I'm pretty sure we played together previously

As I understand it, I need Free Space, Vampires, Magic, Kick Ass Heroine and Immortals to get up to speed. Thankfully the hockey game wasn't too stressful, so I was able to start looking and found something for Free Space.
Completion Post
Free Space - Found on group bookshelf

The Prophet by Amanda Stevens
Read: October 27 to October 30, 2019
Rating: 4 stars
Pages: 347
Review: Another good installment although I didn't love the open ending. I particularly like that the series will probably be moving on, now that some of the ghost issues are resolved. I'm sure the next book will introduce new problems, but at least the series is growing.

Vampires - shelved 231 times

Blood Trail by Tanya Huff
Read: November 3, 2019
Rating: 4 stars
Pages: 304
Review: I read the rest of this series last year, but couldn't find this installment while I was reading. So when it finally turned up on my shelves, I was happy. I enjoy 90s vampire series more than the newer ones for some reason. Maybe nostalgia. Vicki heads out of the city and hangs out with werewolves for awhile. Mike and Henry fight over her as usual. Life progresses.

Kick Ass Heroine - shelved 19 times

Stray by Rachel Vincent
Read: November 7 to November 9, 2019
Rating: 1 star
Pages: 618
Review: Crap and definitely not a kick ass heroine. A whiny horrible spoiled pain in the ass heroine yes. And a boring and confusing shifter world to boot. Don't read.

Magic & Immortals
Next week could very possibly be a winning week. I there are many teams with 1 shelf for Bingo and I think its like 8 possible shelves for a Bingo. Unfortunately we are still 2 away for a Bingo.
