Sandra | 25794 comments Someone could always go the Alternative Choice route, only 1 team member per shelf though. Details were posted on the Shelf Announcement thread, or earlier today I reposted them on the Disscussion thread.

Another option is to look at the SOS Bookshelf Warrior and see if anything appeals, then check if it is also designated Military.

Review:
This book surprised me. i thought it was going to be a light rom com type of book. This was some good writing. So Langley is in the wedding party for her stepsister and a week before the wedding she needs a plus one. So she goes to a bar to find a guy to hire that will po her stepsister and stepmother plans for a high society wedding. She hires Iker for 10,000 for the week. He is in the Army and does this because he needs the money for his brothers college tuiton. So Iker is from the wrong side of the tracks, tatted up and just not who high society gals would bring to a wedding. I really enjoyed this story it ends on a cliff hanger, so I had to download #2 to see what happens.

I am sure there will be some reading long into the night....should be interesting to see who wins...

Not sure when I ll get to mine either but after the win we still have a week to log all our reviews if anyone feels so inclined...

Victoria | 400 comments I ended up reading Cut & Run for military - it was actually a re-read. I meant to read something else that wasn't a re-read, but was really in the mood for that and didn't have time this week for something else. Will post a review soon (prob tomorrow).

And not sure what I'll read for spin-off.

Cut & Run (Cut & Run, #1) by Madeleine Urban

I decided to re-read this as I just finished book nine after a two year gap from reading the rest of the series and realized I forgot A LOT about what happened in the first eight books. It was great returning to these characters and seeing Ty and Zane from the beginning. It was interesting to see how much they had changed throughout the series both individually and as a couple from this first book.

In terms of plot, I can't remember if the villain had been so blatantly obvious the first time I read it, but I couldn't get over how obvious it was this time around. But, I always enjoyed the books for Ty and Zane more than the actual mystery so I guess it doesn't matter the mystery is weak.

I don't think I'll do a full re-read of the series, but do think I'll skim through parts of subsequent books to refresh my memory as this re-read made it clear just how bad my memory is.

Victoria | 400 comments yer, had a feeling we weren't gonna get the win but great job everyone!

And sorry it took so long for me to post my last review, it was not a good reading/GR week for me. I'll try to read/review a spin-off book in the next couple days as well so we can finish strong even if it's not a winning card :)

Changes by Jim Butcher
Read: November 29, 2019
Rating: 4 stars

Review: Oh Harry Dresden, how my heart continually breaks for you. Jim Butcher knows just how to insert the tiny moments of happiness, of humour, of insanity, of joy, just enough to make you not be suicidal while reading Dresden Files. All I wanted to do was keep reading the next book, but I can't and therefore I need to stop thinking about these characters for a couple of weeks. Also, MOUSE!!!!

Victoria | 400 comments No worries, especially as I'm clearly late with my book. It was really short so not sure why it took me so long to finish.

But here it is anyway:

Cross & Crown byAbigailRoux

Rating: 2 stars
Review:

It was fine, there wasn't really anything for me to critique. I'm just not a huge fan of Nick and Kelly as main characters and therefore struggled getting into the story. I liked book 1 and seeing them get together, but didn't really need more than that, especially since this just makes me wish there was more Ty and Zane.
I'm unsure if I want to continue with the series. I think its something I'd be willing to pick up if it fits a particular reading challenge but likely won't pick it up on my own.
