Hi y'all!

I know we have a thread for people to rec their fav autistic books but since autism's co-morbid with so many other disabilities I thought it might be helpful to start one to rec disability rep more generally!

The series Six of Crows has a MC with a bad leg. He broke it as a child and it didn’t heal right. He uses a cane. Another character can’t read (assumed dyslexia of some sort) and other neurodiverse characters.

The Tea Dragon Society graphic novel series has a deaf side/background character (I think it’s one of later books). And one of the MCs in the first book is in a wheelchair.

The graphic novel Mooncakes has a deaf/HoH MC.

I haven’t read it, but my friend with hyper-mobility/ehlers danlos syndrome said Fourth Wing’s MC has some kind of conditions with physical symptoms my friend related to.

The second book in the Giver Series (Gathering Blue)‘s MC has some kind of issue where her leg didn’t grow right and she chronically walks with a cane.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer has a semi-important side character with a cane/limp (I think he has a chronic bone disease??)

In The Crown of Feathers (in the first or second book), one of the MCs gets an injury to his shoulder and it never heals properly, so he loses the ability to use it properly for the rest of his life. I appreciated how his injury didn’t magically heal like they always do and it became an actual disability. --Also it has a side/important character who is blind.

Aaand one of the MCs in the Throne of glass series gets paralyzed from waist down and can’t use his legs (in the fourth or fifth book). The next book they try to heal it. I haven’t finished the series but I don’t think they do, so he ends up in a wheelchair.

omg thanks so much! Kidslit is def the most lacking thing in my personal list and I always feel bad I never have any to recommend ppl whn they ask :( I'll def give that user's shelves a look thru (and probably steal most of their recs, lol)
