message 114: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Next Five reads might be:
Pillars of the Earth
The Poisonwood Bible
Little, Big
The Gunslinger (Dark Tower 1)
Dreams Underfoot

Might also check out The Hunger Games to see what the fuss is about - i'd never heard of it til the film came out.

message 115: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I'd only heard of it through Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. The fuss is worth it in my opinion.

message 116: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'm definately liking the sound of it, I'm going to see if I can pick up a copy on the next library trip.

message 117: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I got my copy from my local library.

message 118: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Laurel wrote: "I'm definately liking the sound of it, I'm going to see if I can pick up a copy on the next library trip."

I've read the first two and can't wait to get my hands on the third. I'm so hooked.

message 119: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'm trying not to buy too many at the moment.... although I'm not doing very well ha ha! But i made the mistake with Twilight of buying the book to see what everyone was talking about and I didn't like it. so... will only vote with my purse once i've read the first one.

A Bitter Veil
Say Her Name: A Novel (audio book)
The Girl Who Married a Lion: and Other Tales from Africa
Othello
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Never Change
The Drop (audio)

Those should keep me busy for a week or so ...

message 126: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (travellingsunny) Great Expectations with another group.
Also a Nicholas Sparks novel, 'cause I need a really good cry. And, if A Discovery of Witches isn't chosen for our May read, then I might just read it myself because I'm really excited about it. I know that's not five, but that's as far ahead as I can think at the moment.

message 127: by Bella (new)

Bella Scott (bellascott-thebookmuse) | 2 comments I really liked the inkheart books the movie though was a little dissapointing.

message 128: by Bella (new)

Bella Scott (bellascott-thebookmuse) | 2 comments Hi All,
Heaps of great suggestions from everyone. I've added quite a few to my ever growing list of books to read.
My next 5 are;
1. Manfield Park - currently reading
2. The Lady in the Rivers - Phillipa Gregory - currently reading as well.
3. My next new book - The Elegance of a Hedgehog
4. When God was a Rabbit
5. Catching fire
Fingers crossed I can keep to that...

message 129: by Bea (new)

Bea (ninatiz) I have so many books in my to-read-list that I don't know which one read next. But I think I'm going to finish the Fifty Shades Triology and Hunger Games Trilogy.

Mel Bea wrote: "I have so many books in my to-read-list that I don't know which one read next. But I think I'm going to finish the Fifty Shades Triology and Hunger Games Trilogy."

I just started Fifty Shades of Grey.....and is it me, but I can't stand Grey. I only started reading it because it was a bestseller and thought I should give it a try.

The next books I plan on reading are:
The City of Fallen Angels
Uglies
One Day
Along Came a Spider

Just got home from work and was thinking about this thread. What am I reading next? Walked to the bookshelf to find the next book, and guess what I stumbled upon? Next, by Michael Crighton. I'm taking it as a sign...

message 133: by Kiaya (new)

Kiaya (kiaalaska) | 6 comments My next five books are:
1) Phillipa Gregory - the lady of the rivers (currently reading)
2)kazuo Ishiguro - never let me go
3)the white woman on the green bicycle - monique rofley
4) Malorie Blackman - Knife Edge
5) The Hunger Games (because the movie was so good and I hear the books are even better)

message 134: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Never Let me go is on the 1001 books to read before I die list...you should make your own personal list :)

message 135: by Kiaya (new)

Kiaya (kiaalaska) | 6 comments just finished reading never let me go. read it in a couple of hours and really enjoyed it!

message 136: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Is it at all creepy? My dad watched the film and I saw about 10 mins of it and it seemed a bit weird and depressing.

message 137: by Kiaya (new)

Kiaya (kiaalaska) | 6 comments I would definatly not describe it as "creepy". It isnt that style of book, it is presented in a stark, almost sad sort of way and some parts were very moving. It depends on what you would call "wierd". It's bacically a story written in memories of a girl who was a clone and lived to give away her vital organs, and it's sort of about how she pieced together the facts about what was happening. I definatley think you should give it a read!

message 138: by Barbarac (new)

Barbarac (bcb72) Now I'm going to have to add Never Let me Go to my next 5 list.

message 139: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I can't wait now, hope to read it by summer.

message 140: by Holly (new)

Holly | 66 comments I think that A Tale of Two Cities will have to wait for a later time.....I have so many new books that I'm anxious to read. That's the only amendment I'm making to my next reads. I'm not yet sure what book will be read in it's place though.

message 141: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lauren0924) | 51 comments Hi all!
I think my next five books will be:
1. The Scarlet Lion by Elizabeth Chadwick
2. Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices) by Cassandra Clare
3. Wolfskin by Juliet Marillier
4. Fever (Chemical Garden Trilogy) by Lauren DeStefano
5. The Dark Mirror by Juliet Marillier

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

I wanna read Fever so bad! I loved Wither!

message 143: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I am going to read A Clockwork Angel too soon. :)

message 144: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lauren0924) | 51 comments Wither was so good! Loved it! I'm excited to read Fever and find out what happens! As for A Clockwork Angel, I'll admit I was drawn to it based on the cover :). But, I have heard good things!

message 145: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I have heard mixed. My friend said it was rubbish compared to the Mortal Instruments.

message 146: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lauren0924) | 51 comments I haven't read The Mortal Instruments series but it is on my (huge) to-read list!

message 147: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Shiver is good.

message 148: by David (new)

David (davidg1951) | 3 comments Got to be (because they have been sitting on the shelf too long):

"Reamde" by Neal Stephenson
"Snuff" by Terry Pratchett
"Things We Didn't See Coming" by Steven Amsterdam
"Rome" by Robert Hughes
"Human Croquet" by Kate Atkinson

message 149: by Sunny (new)

Sunny (travellingsunny) Well, I only planned THREE books ahead, and have already violated the schedule. I completely skipped the Nicholas Sparks book, jumped right in to a Deborah Harkness novel, and have checked out a Stephen King novel from the library which was screaming at me that it needed to be put next in line...

message 150: by ImScared3222 (new)

ImScared3222 I don't think that far ahead! I just pick up a book and read it. But for sure I'm wanting to read Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz, Winne the Pooh, Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and maybe start the narnia series because I skipped out on them while I was a kid.
