Maxine (caffeine_chapters) | 21 comments This is my first 'event', what exactly do I do - just add a horror book and read it? Do I need to create a new bookshelf? Apologies for my ignorance, I'm an amateur :)

Great to have you join in Maxine....all you do is put your choice of horror book here in this thread. Pretty much that helps others with their choices too, by looking at yours, and everyone elses.

When you've read it, you come back here, and state you've finished it, what star rating you felt it should have, and if you leave a review, you could link that too. We all love to read reviews:)

Any more questions, please feel free to ask:)

And it's fun, isn't it Michael:)

message 15: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Although I'm a big believer in adding bookshelves, they do come in handy down the track when you are looking at the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ recommendations for that genre/shelf

message 17: by Maxine (new)

message 19: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 71 comments I am currently reading We Have Always Lived in the Castle for my Spring challenge - but will have it finished by November. I have The Night Circus on reserve at the library, but it is still on order. If it comes in I will read that. what I do have though is Tales of Terror from the Black Ship a deliciously scary YA book.

★ Jess | 3071 comments I cant 'reply' since I'm on my phone, buuuuut...

MICHAEL! I Am very disappointed in you! Harry Potter is a well written story about coming of age, friendship, loyalty and the power of love, as well as being very entertaining and having several decent adaption staring respected actors like Gary Oldman, Ralph Finnes, Helana Bonham Carter, Bill Nighy, John Cleese and Alan Rickman. And it's so amazing.
And HP is the greates thing evar!

(the scene in the graveyard at the end of the fourth book is pretty scary, so is Fenrir Greyback in nook 6... that counts as horror... Read it Michael!

I'm sorry, but you were asking for all that.
I could talk about HP all day. I could write an essay about it, if so desired.

★ Jess | 3071 comments But back on topic,
I haven't read any Stephan King for a while. I've
Got like, 20 of his books on my shelf. I'll read one of them. Horror and darkness is certainly
More ip my alley than those silly romance
Novels (yuck!)

This semester I've read 3 or 4 essays on Harry Potter. Including one on heteronormative heroism. There is quite a lot going on in those books. They're not very well written, mind.

message 34: by Chantel (new)

Chantel | 10 comments The only book i found on my husbands bookshelf that is remotely horror, is "the mammoth book of Terror" various authors. will this do? has anyone read this? looks a bit corny:) maybe i should raid the lifeline bookshop down the road hehehe. cant say ive ever read a horror book in the last 10 years. think "it" by stephen king was scary enough to turn me off this Genre :)

I've read The Night Circus and I can't say it fits into horror in any way, shape or form. Magical realism, yes, horror, no. Nothing horror-like in it at all. Sorry!

Richard 11/22/63 - I'm going to be picking this up as soon as it is released so all being well i'll knock it over before the month ends. not sure it qualifies as horror but it's by Stephen King so i guess that gets me across the line
