Sailor, adventurer, filmmaker, novelist. Pirata has been a professional captain of ocean racing yachts and expedition yachts for past 15 years.

His novel describes the most amazing adventures that he'd lived during his sailing travels to over 100 countries.

He has also participated (as a captain of the expedition yacht) in the production of extraoridinary documentary film 'Aquarela' (dir. Victor Kossakovsky), which was partly shot in Arctic and on the open ocean.

Currently, Pirata is aiming to participate in Vendee Globe, a single-handed non-stop around the world race. He is also working on his ultimate sailing dream - Ultime Expedition, a documentary film project set around circumnavigation of each continent. ...more

Did you ever get seasick? I missed a watch (the midnight) bec despite ear patches etc, I couldn't function. This was on a week sail from Florida to my Westport, MA, home, outside, on a 38' in the 90's. I was the least experienced of the five on the boat.

It stopped after three days and I have never had seasickness again.
I understand how strong it can be and always try to help when someone gets sick. There are tricks helping survive the period when seasickness is very strong like watching the horizon, being on the deck, breathing fresh air, jewing ginger...ear patches can help for sure too.
My story with seasickness is very common. Usually, people are sick two, three days when conditions are bad. Let's take it as a small contribution we have to pay for enjoying open waters. Cheers !!!(less)
