Rain ... Oh, how I love rain!
When I was a child... (yikes, sound like my grandfather)... still and all, when I was a child we lived in eastern Washington which is very arid. My mother would broom us out of the house on most if not all normal days after school, Saturdays and such EXCEPT on the days that it rained. On those most special days we could stay inside and I would wrap myself in a good book or, better still, daydream a story or two.
It has been a very dry, sunny summer, here in Austin, and accordingly I have been remiss in developing new stories.
BUT, (and this is a big but) tomorrow it is predicted to rain, AND I am poised to sequester myself in my studio, turn on my steampunk lamp and crawl inside a new story. If I was in Seattle I would be complaining, but here I am muttering over and over, "Keep on raining!"

Spousal and friendship abuse
Years ago I was driven to write a children's book about the abuses that occur in relationships -- whether that be friend to friend, spouse to spouse or peer group to peer. Like all of my books the issues from this book would help arm the child for battles to be fought in the future. The book was based on emotional abuses that I suffered in several relationships, and yes, men can be wrapped in the spider web of an abusive relationship. This type of abuse is nothing more than bullying cloaked in the fabric of a relationship.
The book was and is called "Sooty-Foot" with the plot embracing a cat who easily seduces a much larger horse into doing his bidding. The book will be released in its original format spring 2015.
Pickles and the Bullies of the P-Flock, , is the second in this series of thought, with a drawn focus on day-to-day teasing/bullying that happens on all elementary campuses across the world, for it is a human condition.

Bullying and beyond
Pickles and the P Flock was and is an unusual unveiling of the bullying issue. It addresses the problem(s) in the traditional way, a group en masse rejecting an individual, while, at the same time, shines a bright light on how easy it is to join the bullying group in the rejection. I was there as a child, bullied often, BUT I also draped the bullying mantle over my shoulders when the opportunity availed.
Young children need to read stories that will deeply imprint their subconscious, to not only protect themselves from bullying but critically be able to side step the opportunities when they themselves are offered the chance to bully.

Without a Monday sometimes things start slowly
Continue to be bogged down with the mundane (even though it's actually Tuesdane)... sorta/kinda a an administrative hangover. It is probably my just desserts for being such a hands-on author. Still and all, I would rather be in the know regarding the market place than creating or anticipating sales in a vacuum.
Yesterday, I did dig back into the Troll novel and found much to be pleased with. The story has a strong narrative flow and I need only add 90 pages or so and the book will plop onto the assembly line.
(sigh)
Sorry about the ramble, but Tuesdane will do that to soul who is stuck in the muck and mire of manufacturing. Time to wash my feet and move on.

August is always a bust (or burst as the case may be)
August, to me, has always been a wasteland of want and wishes, but little action. For some reason the bright sunlight of summer evaporates any and all of my creative drive. I have staggered (literally because of the heat) out to my studio and sat there for hours looking out the windows at deer or an armadillo or two with nary a keystroke struck.
This is not to say I am not enmeshed in the industry during the month of Caesar. Spent most of the month chasing down the insanity of a Walmart project that limped off the shelves (and/or table for which they charged me a fee of $0.20 a copy), and getting the ArkAngels and 4 more Serendipity re-pubs (now there 12) from the printer to the distributor.
But as for today, I will watch the clock as August slowly unwinds, eager to dive back into the alphavat and finish the story of Loody Muddles, a most amazing Trading Troll surviving his adventures in the Overwhirled.

Newbie trying to figure whether to use a paintbrush or fork.
Sorry about the delay in posting, but I have been in the midst of the chaos created in re-launching the Serendipity Books , introducing my first Y/A novel, SOS (October 2014), and trying to keep my bare feet in the alphavat whilst I stomp out word wine on yet-another new book. (And, yes, that is a great example of a run-on sentence)
I will be more diligent in the future...
