SOS, the song of the sea

I wrote SOS because I was troubled by all of the whale and porpoise beachings I had been reading about in the news... troubled because I couldn't understand why it was happening. The ensuing literary journey led me to a story about our environment narrated from a unique perspective, the creatures of the sea (whales, dolphins and others).
A whale, Harmony, is the initial voice of the novel, followed by a dolphin, Laughter Ring, and then a deaf marine biologist, who is the firsts to discover the language and the narrative of the Song of the Sea.
It's a good story, one of my favorites, BUT I am having a devil of a time getting folks to read it.
That is the bad news.
The good news is that once they read it they discover a new perspective of the environment and, for the most part, love it.
I think I am going to re-release it with a snappier title: "Beachings, the trial of the Sandwalkers."

Moanday Mourning

Actually, tis a brightly lit beautiful morning in Austin... spectacular in fact. Sat down last night and read the actual print version of SOS, the song of the sea. Couple of things I might have done differently BUT I liked it, a lot. The Book will release June 8th, appropriately World Ocean Day. Advance autographed copies available at stephencosgrove.com.
Yikes! That was about as blatant as you can get. Still and all, a beautiful morning in Texas.

SOS, the song of the sea

After lebinty-billion years of messin' and fussin' finally glued Harmony, Laughter Ring and Sharing into one cohesive novel, SOS, the song of the sea... (cohesive may be the definitive word...hopefully cohesive). I have read and re-read and it still resonates with me. Storyline: Harmony, a white whale, calls for an enclave wherein mankind, the sand walkers, are tried for their crimes against the sea. The song is broken into three narrations --the first by Harmony, a white whale, the second by Laughter Ring, a dolphin, and the third by Sharing, a deaf marine biologist who has mastered the language as sung by the mammals of the sea.
SOS releases late June, but pre-release copies are available at my website: stephencosgrove.com. SOS the song of the sea by Stephen Cosgrove

Leo the Lop (backstory)

When Robin and I first started working together I would often visit her at her parent's home. All was fine and cordial, save for the pet of her little sister, a forty pound lop-earred rabbit called Leo. Leo was not of the mind set of other little furry, lovable bunnies. Leo was big and a bully to boot, and he was given free roam of the house, much to the consternation of guests of which I was one.
BUT, for some odd reason, Leo liked me. He would thunder down the hallway, his ears hanging down and charge at me like I was waving a red cape. Then he would press his massive head between my knees, and I would be encouraged to scratch his long flopping ears for seemingly hours.
It was during these moments that I would consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, he was a bully because with his ears going down instead of up, he didn't feel normal. Four million plus copies later, I still don't know for sure. Leo the Lop by Stephen Cosgrove

Back (again) and this time for good.

For the past 6 months or so, I have been awash in the ebb and flow of life. Unfortunately, I became fixated on the past, and, as we all know, walking backwards can be fraught with much danger.

Delightfully, I have turned back around and, again, wrapped myself in the magic of new story discovery.

I am focused now on the completion of the Tradin' Troll Trilogy (Loody Muddles and the Three Keys) and a new Y/A screechy scary series, Tales from Darkness.

Critically, I will make every effort to post here on GoodReads often (maybe even more than often).

Happy Thanksgiving

Was out in the studio wandering around my word pile, when I realized today is Thanksgiving or Thanksgetting, as the case may be. I am a creature of habit, and it seems, a day isn't a day without sitting at my old trestle desk and slipping into a story. I am done now, back in the office in the house, ready to wake up my wife, the dog, the cat and the potato bugs under the welcome mat to a crisp and sparkling morning.
To all of you and all of yours, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving

Yikes! I disappeared

Sorry for the absence but WAS caught in a chaos of creative confetti and such. Still and all, I will attempt to be more regular, so to speak, in the future.
My delightful team of creative collaborators (Carolyn LaPorte, Roby LaPorte, Robin James, the Shermiester and many others) have laid out the next 8 Serendipity books which will release in February. Additionally, there will also be a spring release of 4 Barely There's, and three of the scary summer reading series, In Darkness. Bizzy-Bizzy.
Of serious note, I will definitely run out of books before Christmas. So, should you wish for an autographed book or two, let me know.

Two Feet in Texas

Long, long day. Up and in the studio before 3:00 this morning. Feared I would go out there and fall asleep on the porch. Fortunately, Loody Muddles left me a mug of Hoot Hoog. After slurping that down, dashed into the studio, ripped off my shoes and socks and hopped into the alphavat and started stomping out word wine. It was a delightfully creative time.

But by this time in the afternoon, I feel as though I am pulling a pallet of bricks through a briar patch. Hot Hoog I need ya now.
