I just finished the book and waited about 4 hours before writing this. My initial impression is that Tad Williams stuck the landing of The Last King of Osten Ard which is quite an accomplishment. While Williams provides you with summaries of the prior installments which are very helpful to the reader, the vast amount of back story may be too overwhelming for a new reader to the series to start with this novel ...more
