I had just written two Regency-set gothic historical romances, both with a paranormal twist. This time, I wanted to subvert that trope, and take what looked like a paranormal twist and give it a very real, but just as deadly, explanation.
I also wanted to try my hand at the non-innocent, non-virginal heroine. I feel so much emphasis is placed on the heroine's innocence, that too often her virginity defines her self-worth. And I wanted to subvert that, too. There's nothing Violet hasn't done. But it doesn't take away her value as a person. Her past makes her stronger and more principled. Her strength makes her worthy of the title of heroine.

i found the viscounts christmas temptation to be one of the best reads of the last 4 decades, and am a heyer fan but i read only books with pages and covers you do a grievous disservice to your wit and genius to make your further titles unavailable to those of us who read actual book. why??? so very sad you cannot reach an audience who realize that a book is like a garden carried in your pocket, shame.
