asked:
On page 224 Frieda and Abram Kaufman when the woman opens the door, Kate puts her age at about 35. This would have made her 5 years old when the disappearance t took place, yet Frieda talks as if she were Nolt's age or even older. Did I miss something? Or perhaps skip something...or am I simply misunderstanding the time-line?

Hi Dianne--Apologies for the late reply. I’ve been on deadline and fell behind on just about everything. In any case I wanted to respond to your question. I did some investigating and looked at the original manuscript. The age of Frieda Kaufman is my mistake. In the early stages of the book, I played around with the timeline and I forgot to adjust the age of the character accordingly. Apologies for the slip! I hope it didn’t detract too much from your enjoyment of the book. I talked with my publisher, btw, and they’re going to correct the paperback edition. So thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I noticed this as well, along with another one in regards to Rachel, Nolt's sister. It surprised me because I've never had this happen to me while reading Castillo's books. The inconsistencies didn't hamper my enjoyment of the story, but it did make me wonder if she has changed editors.

I missed this one, but I did see on page 73 that there was a list of fourteen missing males; three lines (or so) later, Kate looks at the files of all SIX of them.
Early on, I was astonished to see Castillo write that a twelve-year-old boy was an Eagle Scout. Unless things have changed drastically in the last number of years, that's at least two to four years young for a boy scout to have earned all his merit badges, and have completed his projects.
