Introductions

Welcome to the group Hannah. I've added you as a friend.

I have been lurking for a bit, but thought I ought to say hello properly! I'm a lifelong reader from Brighton, and am currently reading Canada by Richard Ford (love his stuff) and Animal, vegetable miracle by Barbara Kingsolver, about growing your own food and sourcing it locally. An impossible dream for me but it's something to aim at!
I belong to a reading group at my local public library and we are reading Christopher Isherwood's Goodbye to Berlin. I'm trying to get to 55 books this year - I did it last year but am already lagging behind so far!
I read the Snow Child last year and thought it was one of the best books I'd read all year.

I like the sound of the Barbara Kingsolver book. We used to have an allotment before we moved house. The plan then was to grow as much of our own stuff as possible. A great idea, but we kept losing the battle with the veg-munching insects and mice that lived there! We're braving ourselves for another shot at it this year!!

I'm Kelly, and I joined the Vipers to get some book recommendations and take part in some discussions - I find the Adult Fiction part of Mumsnet a bit quiet!
I am currently on maternity leave with my second son. I am doing a bit more reading as I am reading during the night feeds in an attempt to stay awake!
Have already read Harold Fry so am looking forward to taking part on that thread. Currently reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time

Mum to a daughter (4), a son (7 3/4) and wife to a vicar (more Joanna than Anthony Trollope);
Would almost always 'rather be reading';
Loves a pot of tea and good book in the evening, but too easily distracted by 't'interweb';
Will read almost anything, a reformed literary snob;
Blogger (bookwormmum.wordpress.com) about my year-long challenge to read different genres each month(into second year);
Rubbish housewife;
Occasional writer.
Hello!

I'm not sure if there's a way to link your blog to the group's home page but, if there is, feel free to do so.

Welcome to the group Maggie. I'm completely in awe of your challenge. I watched Julia Bradbury's programmes where she attempted Wainwright's walks, and some of them were really tough going (I just about struggled to get to the top of Snowdon pre-children :D).
A good friend of ours has Parkinsons too. He's over 80 now and has had it for about 8 years. He's just had to give up driving.

Hi Clare. Welcome to the group.

Absolutely loving adding all my books to my goodreads list - they even had my much adored (when aged 10), Misty, Stormy's Foal (have moved on a little in reading tastes since then, I promise).

We don't mind lurkers, Jo, honest!! But we'd love to hear your recommendations too.

Hello Claire! Welcome to our group, we do have a wide variety of monthly reads on the go, hopefully something for everyone!

Look forward to chatting to you about books. Hope you'll have a go at one of our challenges, or join in a group read.
