Jalilah I just finished When Fox is a Thousand
and started My Antonia
I waiting for my copy of Daughter of the Sword

message 7: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (imhrien) | 433 comments Just finished How I Live Now which was amazing and horrible at the same time. I see a flower and want to cry, so I'm still feeling rather tender.

Think I'm gonna go with Crusie & Mayer's Wild Ride next, hope some giggles will rehabilitate me. Crusie never cheats me out of a laugh, even if I don't always love the book.

message 8: by K. (new)

K. (aoutranc3) I'm just finishing up The Blood of Flowers but I'm not quite sure if I liked it as much as I think I did.

message 9: by Thaddeus (new)

Thaddeus White | 50 comments Revisiting John White's Restorer of the World: The Roman Emperor Aurelian. Fascinating chap and era in Roman history, and sadly not all that well-known.

message 10: by Gianluca (new)

Gianluca (gianlucag) I'm almost done with The Desert Spear. I'll probably read Furies of Calderon next.

message 11: by Tara (new)

Tara (tarabookreads) | 320 comments I finished The Blinding Knife and couldn't decide on what to read next (I have alot on my to-read list and hard to choose). I norrowed it down to The Rithmatist and Poison Study, so first I started with Poision Study which is very interesting so far and after that The Rithmatist..

message 12: by Kyra (new)

Kyra Dune (kyradune) | 9 comments L. Ron Hubbard's Writer's Of The Future Anthology Volume #19

Snarktastic Sonja (snownsew) | 258 comments I am listening to Hard Magic (annoyed 3rd book doesn't come out til next month) and reading Going Postal. When I make it to the elliptical, I am also reading Oath of Swords - there are 2 more books to this series since I read the first 2.

Interesting selections Tara. I would not put Poison Study in with your other 2 selections. I really enjoyed Poison Study, though based on the reviews of others (I know, right?) I didn't continue the series. I probably should.

Personally, I am waiting on Mr. Weeks to finish that series before I pick it up. This is based on 2 things a) I don't trust authors to finish series and b) I hate having to re-read a series when new books come out.

I don't always care for re-reading a series either, but I also dislike reading a series back-to-back-to-back then getting burnt out on it.

Book People and their Problems, enh? =]

The author mentioned that he has more than a year to finish the third book and I am not sure if there is a fourth, however I don't mind reading an unfinished series as long as there is a plan to finish it.. I don't re-read the previous ones..

I also agree with Sophie, I usually don't read them back to back as well..

In terms of my choice reading Poison Study, I read plenty of book samples to decide on this one.. Guess it depends on my book mood nowadays :)

message 17: by Scott (new)

Scott | 165 comments I finished Joyland last week. I thought it was excellent. Now I'm reading The King of Plagues.

message 19: by carol. , Senor Crabbypants (new)

carol. | 2616 comments I'm taking an intensive summer course, so I'm extra-fickle about my current reading. I set down the sure-to-be-good Claire DeWitt and the Bohemian Highway because I couldn't give it unbroken attention. I started Daughter of the Sword and was enjoying it, but its a little bit of a slow start and its taking itself quite seriously. I need something stupid, so I tried The Enemy, which was really too stupid, so I switched toDragons of Wendal which was exactly what I needed--cute, light and fun.

Haydensdad | 73 comments Just started White Night this morning really good.

message 33: by Katey (new)

Katey | 10 comments Didn't start the Glen Cook books like I'd wanted to, but I did begin Assassin's Apprentice. Loving it so far - especially how the names are words that the royalty has to personify. Very cool so far! I'm glad I like it because I was afraid nothing would fill The void after I finished The First Law Trilogy.

message 34: by L.Y. (new)

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 131 comments The Great Hunt. I finally found book two. Next up I'll be looking for book three. :)

message 37: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 17, 2013 11:38AM) (new)

I also do a re-read: Elric saga by Michael Moorcock. I read it a very long time ago, I really need to refresh my memory before I rate it.

message 38: by Maarit (new)

Maarit I'm once again more or less stucked at the books on my currently reading shelf, mostly because I'm writing my Master's thesis and it eats a lot of time. I started At the Mountains of Madness & Other Novels of Terror this week though.

message 39: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Cogan | 1 comments I just started A Memory of Light. I'm excited to see how the story wraps up but sad as it's now officially the end of the series. I almost stopped reading around Book 10 (Crossroads of Twilight I believe) as the books were getting incredibly difficult to get through but I'm so glad I continued as the last three books have been amazing.

message 40: by Helen (new)

Helen Just finished The Gathering Storm and now on the The Wasp Factory.

Snarktastic Sonja (snownsew) | 258 comments I am reading Servant of the Empire because I want to see what Mara does next.

message 42: by Reuben (new)

Reuben | 21 comments Just finished book one of First Law... now I need to wait for the others to come on at the library! In the meantime, trying something by Guy Gavriel Kay (The Summer Tree) purely because it caught my eye at the library.

message 43: by Scott (new)

Scott | 165 comments I finished The King of Plagues and Assassin's Code. Now I'm going to start Extinction Machine.

message 44: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (lostunicorn) Tried reading Shadow Moon but couldn't get into it and put it aside for now (not calling it 'giving up' yet), and switched to The Godmother. That went much better and I'm ready to start the next one in that series The Godmother's Apprentice.

message 45: by Jalilah (new)

Jalilah I am reading another version of Robin Hood, Hood by Stephen R. Lawhead

We read that as a group read. When you get to a point that spoilers are not a problem, you should check out the thread. :-)

Thanks just finished this morning and things are much clearer not crystal clear but clearer. The thread did help thank you. It would appear that a little confusion is the order of the day with this book and most of the readers felt the same as me at the outset, a stranger in a strange land. It would seem the conclusion left as many new questions as it answered leading me to believe the full story unravels as the chronicles continue.

Haydensdad | 73 comments Just started A Memory of Light this morning really looking forward to the conclusion of this series I'm into year two of the journey through WOT.
