Is your TBR list out of control?

For our reading month of July - we need to identify what should be read from our TBRs. Get rid of those books that have been languishing and waiting - calling out but not being heard. July is the month to read and reduce our TBRs as much as we can!

Here we have a list of suggestions for the month, and let's see how many we can complete before month's end :)

Rules:

#1. You need to complete at least three of the categories listed below to finish this challenge (but let's all try for more!) One read = one book per category.
#2. Do your best to read as many Aussie Authors as you can - a minimum of one if you read the 3 criteria.
#3. List (and LINK) all the books you plan to read for the challenge.
#4. Upon completion of a book, rate it and update your progress.
#5. Don't forget our guidelines HERE

SUGGESTION: Copy and paste this list in your post and link your book choices next to each category...

Only one from each category required:)

1) The book that's been on your list the longest
2) A book recommended by a GR friend
3) A book from your favourite genre
4) A book with over 400 pages
5) A book by an author new to you
6) The book you want to read the most
7) A book by a male author
8) A book by one of your favourite authors
9) A book by a female author
10) A book with a cover you love
11) A book set in Australia by an Aussie author
12) A book set in another country

Make sure everything you choose is solely from your TBR lists!

Relax and reduce! Happy reading!

message 12: by Kathryn (last edited Jul 16, 2016 03:38AM) (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments I am definitely in for this one, and I'm sure I'll complete it one way or another, however the books I am about to list are purely for the fun of it because I'm sure these won't be the books I end up choosing!!

And I'm not sure how many categories I'll get through, but these are possible options if I did the whole lot...

Completed 6/12

1) The book that's been on your list the longest - Silver Wedding by Maeve Binchy
2) A book recommended by a GR friend - Useful by Debra Oswald (recommended by Marianne) - AA - 4
3) A book from your favourite genre - The Beast's Garden by Kate Forsyth - AA
4) A book with over 400 pages - The Distant Hours by Kate Morton - AA
5) A book by an author new to you - Mary Bennet by Jennifer Paynter - 4 - AA
6) The book you want to read the most - Rain Music by Di Morrissey - AA
7) A book by a male author - Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner - 3.5
8) A book by one of your favourite authors - The Last Dance by Fiona McIntosh - AA
9) A book by a female author - Wicked Autumn by G.M. Malliet - 3
Hoping I still get to my original choice Blood Born by Kathryn Fox - AA
10) A book with a cover you love - The Shadow Hour by Kate Riordan The Shadow Hour by Kate Riordan
11) A book set in Australia by an Aussie author - Let Her Go by Dawn Barker - 5
Would still like to get to The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham - both AAs
12) A book set in another country - Lost by Michael Robotham - 3 - AA

Now if I was to read all of those, 10 out of the 12 would be Aussie authors - but I won't manage all of those, and I can guarantee that of the ones I do manage, many of the choices will change! But this looks fun - I may even use this list beyond July to help guide my reading...
Edited to add: I've already made changes to my book choices - and my number of Aussie authors is dropping!

That's why we call it a challenge Glenn :) To get yourself out of your comfort zone (in your case reading 2 per month and not taking those reads from your TBR) - if you'd like to join in, you're most welcome to set yourself 3 from the above criteria (at least one Aussie author), take them all from your TBR and do your best :)

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments I'll be moving house in mid-July, so I'm going to be very busy. Therefore I'm aiming to complete the minimum number of books required for the challenge. If I finish 3 in good time, I'll add more to the list...but for now my TBR choices are as follows. Note all three books are written by Aussie Authors, two of whom are new to me:

2. A book recommended by an AR friend:
All That is Lost Between Us by Sara Foster
5. A book by an author new to me:
Blood Secret by Jaye Ford
12. A book set in another country:
The Year of Living Dangerously by Christopher J. Koch

You are correct, in that I sold my house in Melbourne in March. Now I'm moving out of my rental house in Bendigo into the new house bought with the proceeds of the Melbourne sale...tedious in the extreme.

Carolyn, I actually only just added this to my TBR in the last few days and then it turned up at the Library STRAIGHT AWAY together with book 2. I need to pull a few sickies just to get through these. (I wish)
