You might be right. There could be some folks who want the Artichokes to win badly enough that they would read a green cover on purpose :)

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 272 comments Grime and Punishment (Jane Jeffry, #1) by Jill Churchill - I may be fighting a losing battle for the 'chokes here. We need some defense!

I have two more random green covers hanging out on the shelf and one audiobook so I guess I'd better get at 'em.

Ah, cozy mysteries and the rainbow of covers that come along with them. It's going to cost me in my goal to finish more series than I start this year though :)

The field goal is good and the Artichokes score!

JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments When on September 15 will the challenge end? I may be able to get one or two more books read depending on the deadline.

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 272 comments Open and Shut (Andy Carpenter #1) by David Rosenfelt Thank goodness for 2x speed on audiobooks :) I finished this one up last night for the 'chokes.

C'mon. Who doesn't want to cheer for a team called the artichokes?

Lyndi (mibookobsession) (mibookobsession) | 254 comments 2 for storm

LaRose by Louise Erdrich p191 "the next three children arrived during thunderstorms"

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert "It was a stormy night, and they talked under an umbrella by lightning flashes."

message 113: by Joann (new)

Joann I finished An Inquiry Into Love and Death by Simone St. James with a lot of green on it, so a point for the Artichokes

Two points for the Storm and two points for the Artichokes!

This game could go either way, folks!

message 115: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (jojolyn) | 672 comments Just finished Getting Rough (Monkey Business Trio, #2) by C.L. Parker . The book mentioned Hurricane Ayla hitting the coast of Maine. Parts of story mentioned them prepping, living through, and the aftermath of the storm.

A score for the currently winning team, the Storm.

The Fate of Mercy Alban by Wendy Webb

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 272 comments I just realized that I read Swift Run (A Charlie Swift Mystery #3) by Laura DiSilverio earlier this month and it had a snowstorm that stranded Charlie and Dan in the middle of nowhere so, I guess that's one for the storm.

oohhh that's on my TBR shelf! I am just starting The Vanishing by her now for the go-gothic challenge.

I'm looking at all the books I have at home and like none of them are green, sorry Artichokes! LOL.

Two more points for the Storm. Their lead is growing!

message 121: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Lanelle, I loved the idea of this challenge when I first saw it - despite the fact that I despise football for many reasons - and it looks like lots of other folks enjoy it too. Great idea!

Thanks, Kathy. After 7 years of playing clarinet in my high school and college marching bands, and over 12 years of attending my children's marching band shows (and thus football games), I have come to enjoy football :)

Do you have an idea of which sport we could spotlight come January? Curling?

message 126: by Erin L (new)

Erin L (wellreadmoose) | 272 comments It'd be tough to pick teams for curling, but hockey would be a good one. Or baseball next spring.

It's an old series, but he's still writing them and I believe released on this year.

The Locked Room A Martin Beck Police Mystery by Maj Sjöwall - for the artichokes. For what it's worth, the cover looked more dark green in real life.

Kathy I finished This Must Be the Place by Maggie O'Farrell by Maggie O'Farrell. It has a bit of green in the round inset, and I am really pulling for the Artichokes, but I fear there is just not enough green to count. The image here appears more green than the actual book. So instead, let's enjoy this description.

"Rain hurls itself against the windshield in staccato gusts; the wipers flail back and forth, Sisyphean in their ineffectuality." p. 175

Touchdown for the Storm.
