Hi, book friends! What Wednesday is a weekly challenge where you share what book you just finished, what book you're currently reading, and what book you plan to read next.

To participate just answer the following questions:
1. What did you recently finish reading?
2. What are you currently reading?
3. What do you think you'll read next?

1. The last book I finished was Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer. This is a Young Adult novel. It is such a great story. It deals with grief, secrets, family, friendship, love. It tugs at your heartstrings.
2. I am currently reading I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. This book is probably the best true crime book I have ever read. Actually, I don't know that any other true crime book will ever outrank this one. It really gets under your skin but it is amazingly written and extremely researched. I highly recommend this one if you are interested in true crime whatsoever.
3. I'm not sure what I will read next because I am a mood reader. But, what I am considering picking up next will either be:
The Outsider by Stephen King
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine
Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland

1. I recently finished Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton. Loved it.
2. I am currently reading
- The Shape of Water by Guillermo del Toro. Almost done. Love it.
- Authority by Jeff VanderMeer. Just a little way in. So far, a good second book in the Southern Reach series.
- Two in the Field by Darryl Brock. Great second book in series.
3. To read next. Like Krystyna, it will depend on my mood. Maybe The Star Wars Trilogy by George Lucas

Yeah, being a mood reader has its pros and cons. But, I may not even pick up any of the books I listed. I may pick up something completely different when I finish my current read.

For this What Wednesday (6/6/18):

1. The last book I finished was I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. This was the best true crime book that I have read. There were times at night when I would think back to something I read and it would make me a little hesitant to open a door and sometimes a little paranoid that someone might be in my house. It does get under your skin and is a great read. It is extremely well-written and thoroughly researched. If you are even remotely interested in true crime, I cannot recommend this one enough.

2. I am currently reading All the Little Lights by Jamie McGuire. After reading the true crime book, I wanted something a little lighter. I was in the mood for a contemporary, especially since it's summer. This book is a little heavier than I expected though. But, I am loving this book. I haven't wanted to set it down. I have been reading it every chance I get and I am almost finished with it.

3. As far as what I plan on reading next, I am wanting to read some contemporary books or beachy books since it's summer. So, I may read:
More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer
Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland
Ten Tiny Breaths by K. A. Tucker

Wednesday, June 6

1. Recently finished - Two in the Field by Darryl Brock. Just good. Not as good as the first book in the series. Could be skipped. (The first book, If I Never Get Back, was excellent.). And The Shape of Water byGuillermo del Toro
2. Currently reading - Authority by Jeff VanderMeer. Just over halfway through. Good. Odd like the first book in the series. And You Will Not Have My Hate by Antoine Leiris. Just started. Sad. Might be too sad. A short, quick read.
3. Read next - deciding between - Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence and The Star Wars Trilogy by George Lucas

Debra Diggs | 2388 comments Krystyna wrote: "What did you think about I'll Be Gone in the Dark?"

The author certainly put a lot work into the book. I had not heard of this killer before, so it was quite interesting. (view spoiler) (I don't think this is really a spoiler, but just in case, I don't want to ruin anything for other readers.)

I haven't read it yet. I am on hold for it. I don't even think it's 200 pages. I have heard mixed things about it. Some people are disappointed and some people say that he packs a punch in such a short book. So, I am interested to hear your thoughts.
