Randy Harmelink | 1639 comments For a short story, Just One Day. What's not to love? A spaceship, a black hole, time travel, and, yes, zombies!

For series, Adrian's Undead Diary, A Very Good Man, and Zombie Rules.

I've always wished the author would delve into horror again, but I think (??) that's the only horror novel he's ever written. (Off to check.....).

Fortress Britain (Arisen, #1) by Glynn James The Remaining (The Remaining, #1) by D.J. Molles The Tide (The Tide, #1) by Anthony J. Melchiorri

Marie | 3997 comments I started reading this series and need to get back into it as I really liked the first two books. Here is the first book that starts it off:

Zero Day (Slow Burn, #1) by Bobby Adair by Bobby Adair

message 13: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller | 2481 comments My list starts off with an underrated series:

Autumn (Autumn, #1) by David Moody by David Moody, is just a great story. We see them from the beginning and its horrible. Great story telling.

Rot & Ruin (Rot & Ruin, #1) by Jonathan Maberry by Jonathan Maberry is excellent. It is in the YA section; but the story is anything but, IMO. Violent, crazy and this story intersects with Joe Ledger. Woot!

Speaking of Joe; Patient Zero (Joe Ledger, #1) by Jonathan Maberry . Yeeahhh, the good old strain of zombie created by a madwoman and released to unsuspecting good folk. Good stuff.

Dead City (Dead World, #1) by Joe McKinney by Joe McKinney is awesomely dead. This is just book One; things happen quickly.

The Walking Dead, Vol. 1 Days Gone Bye by Robert Kirkman by Robert Kirkman, is actually a great comic/graphic novel series. The dead kill off a lot of characters before you get to love them real good. In the TV show, the main characters actually live for like "years".... not the comics. They die off quickly except for Rick and Cooorraaalll.

I have a few more, but these are the tops. :)

I didn't like that one as much as the 2nd book; Fall of Night (Dead of Night, #2) by Jonathan Maberry . I do love it and cannot wait for book 3.

Angela (chaotickat84) | 32 comments I really enjoy the Zombie Fallout Series by Mark Tufo, altho I mostly listen to the audiobooks. It's a zombie series with some vampire thrown in and definitely not your typical zombies. It contains many different types of zombies

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 426 comments I listened to a lot of Mark Tufo. I think his narrator, Sean Runette, doesn’t sound right for his books, but they’re unique & a lot of fun.

James Seger (jseger9000) | 34 comments I recommend Joe McKinney's zombie novels, starting with Dead City. Very enjoyable old school Romero zombies.

I started The Rising and just hated it, though I guess I'm the only one.

I haven't yet read Romero's The Living Dead, but am really looking forward to it.

If you want to post direct links to GR pages for books, click the "add book/author" link above the comment box and enter the name in the search field. You can choose whether you just want to hyperlink or add the book cover by using the radial buttons at the bottom of the pop up window.

The Rot & Ruin series is excellent! Jonathan Maberry is one of my favorite authors. I also love the narrator who normally reads his books, Ray Porter.

You may want to start with Dead of Night which is the same universe, but the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse.
Those series are also in the same universe as the Joe Ledger books which start with Patient Zero!

message 45: by Badseedgirl (new)

Badseedgirl | 1031 comments Autumn (Autumn, #1) by David Moody I have only read the first book in the series, but I liked it.
Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo VERY light read, but so enjoyable
Patient Zero (Joe Ledger, #1) by Jonathan Maberry Not every book deals with "zombies," but I have read every book in the Joe Ledger Series because they re just a good read.
Boneshaker (The Clockwork Century, #1) by Cherie Priest Steampunk Zombies. Yes, Please!

message 46: by Bryan (new)

Bryan Farrell | 193 comments This won't be for everyone, but I'd never read a "Pick Your Own Path" style book before and ended up having so much fun with this one. Cleverly written, chock full of pop culture references and thoroughly enjoyable whether you want to read it in one and done or go back and take the (zombie) roads not travelled.

message 49: by Heather (new)

Heather | 356 comments I'm still waiting for a complete and unabridged WWZ audiobook. I think the updated one is still missing some things.

And the WWZ movie, don't know who thought that was a good idea. It begs to be a mockmentary miniseries on Shudder or Syfy or something.

message 50: by Bryan (new)

Bryan Farrell | 193 comments Over time, I've grown to really like the WWZ movie as its own thing but when it first came out I raced to cinema to see it and as someone who loved the book, I was bitterly disappointed and wondered why the hell they even bothered giving it the same title and giving the author any money when it had so little to do with anything from the book. I'd definitely love to see an episodic adaptation of the book, so many cool scenes and stories just begging to be shown!
