This one was a hella uncomfortable read. I enjoyed some of the stories, but a couple of them were just... so gross. 😂

3/5 stars

Just Watch Me (Riley Wolfe #1) by Jeff Lindsay
What HUGE disappointment this was. Nothing at all like the Dexter books. It made me sad.

Weird and wonderful.

Xavier Hugonet (xavierhugonet) | 16 comments Vanishing Hour, by Lisa King. An unusual and uplifting take on the Apocalypse genre :

/review/show...

She has a Broken thing Where her Heart Should Be. A masterpiece by J.D. Barker. Up there with King and Koontz

/review/show...

The Evil Within by S.M Hardy. A mystery wrapped into a ghost story. Original stuff.

/review/show...

The Forever House by Tim Waggoner. A totally crazy horror story featuring a sorta screwed up mean version of The Addams Family.

/review/show...

The Unnoticeables by Robert Brockway. Punk horror (yes, it’s a genre)

/review/show...

Sleeping Beauties, by Stephen King and son, Owen. No introduction required.

It's a well-written series with some weird and horrific elements to it. Each book rightly carries a warning about scenes of cruelty and violence which some readers might find hard to stomach, but the world-building and characters are what makes these books so good IMO. I hope you enjoy them if you get around to reading them. By the way, I saw recently that the first book is available in audio format on Youtube.

Oh really? I'm always on YouTube. I'll probably try it, especially if the writing is good. Sometimes I go into these YA books and the character/writing is more on the juvenile side.

I really enjoyed it.

message 70: by Padders (new)

Padders (randompadley) | -13 comments had a little binge over the last week or two and slowly chipping away at my never ending 'to read' list.

Alice (The Chronicles of Alice, #1) by Christina Henry

A very gory, very bloody re-telling. Had a few flaws but overall solid 3/5

The Death House by Sarah Pinborough

Super slow, felt like nothing happened for more than half of the book, struggled! 2/5

Hunger (Hunger #1) by Jeremiah Knight

Cool little sci-fi with an interesting premise, didn't really kick it up that extra notch to make it 4 stars but another solid 3!

Loved that one as well, you should check out the HBO show, saw you mentioned it in your review, saw two episodes so far and it's terrific. It also has Talos in it hehe, whom we adore ( Ben Mendelsohn) .
