TART Challenge2 - Still Loitering Layabouts - The Goid Edition (3)

The romance tag doesn't matter for this challenge, unless it is a specific requirement of the task. And yes - I've had a few that I think 'fabulous - I want to read that' and then I realise it won't fit this challenge 🙄 So have to wait... 😁
(Suspect I may have read my debut author option - might need to suss that out further...

I didn't write a review the first time around so thought I'd give this a go again. Thankfully my memory isn't so great so I had no idea who did what. I also forgot the sexy parts which were very nice indeed. There was the whole fluttery parts and weird language but overall still hot. The mystery was just as good and still a mystery to my battered brain so very enjoyable read. Would I still rate it 5 stars? Probably not, but a solid 4 for sure.

Marek, I addored. Ryan however, I wanted to punch....a lot. I mean come one dude, get over it already. Your dad's a giant a**hole and doesn't deserve one second of your devotion. What Ryan did to himself and those around him to try and please the SOB was infuriating. Yes, it was a pretty great story but I wish Ryan would've eventually just stood up to his dad. So disappointing to see a grown ass man grovel and beg....and not in the sexy way.

I had to stop listening to mine when I got home since I knew I'd need something to listen to tomorrow and what's left should fit in my schedule.
Started reading the 4th Calluvia book instead...which is also over 300 pages. I might just fill that in here and use the audio book for Regular Bingo since it's from 2011.

Review: I think I should have re-read at least Book 3 before starting this one and I think I might put the previous ones on the reread shelf for future challenges. See, I know the books in this series have stories that are very much interwoven, but weirdly enough there was only a slight feeling of something barely missing in the back of my mind while reading this one; that the names, politics and whatnot were familiar but it wasn't distracting enough to make me want to stop and go back.
Which means, I think, that this installment might actually stand alone.
I had to skim my previous reviews (and others) to remind myself why that might be. With the majority of the story taking place within the Order, it sets itself apart from the intrigue from the other books among Calluvian royalty - with Eri's origins barely being of any importance until much, much later in the series. I didn't even realize what Castien was up to, what he might have had in mind by claiming Eri, until Eri realized it. (Again, the details of what power the Order had - as mentioned in previous books - totally slipped my mind.)
So, I think I appreciated this one differently; I loved that Eri wasn't the typical initiate, that he was headstrong and emotional...and that he was the perfect foil for Castien, who was entirely too detached, too analytical, too conniving. They fit together, without sucking the joy out of Eri (well, Castien sort of did after a while, until he pulled his head out of his ass), or even filing off the roughest of Castien's edges. It's interesting that Eri chose to go back to the Order, and that these guys still got their HEA. I wonder if it would have worked the same had Eri been the oldest, the next King, instead of Warrehn?
I think that might be something of the dilemma in the spin-off, which has me chomping at the bit after reading the first couple of paragraphs of the preview. (I didn't read all of it; I want to go into it without much spoilerage!) And of course I can't wait for Warrehn's story!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Exile along with some of his pack Jaxon is looking for ways to take the rest of his pack back and defeat the Alpha, Sterling. Help comes in an unforeseen way by way of Omega Reed.
A feelgood story.

Review:
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was refreshing in that the MCs really tried to communicate and they were solid in being true to themselves as they searched for their way in life. They author had opportunities to over-dramatise the plot, but held true to the more likely path, which I really appreciated.
Not sure if I will round the star rating up or down yet. Will keep pondering 😉

Review: I've been sitting on this one for years (have my own copy but used KU for the notes/highlights) because for some odd reason I kept putting it off...mainly because I thought *facepalm* it had some connection to internet porn. Camwolf. Like the kid was doing cam work.
So, when I reread the precis (and a couple of reviews) I realized my mistake. Cam. As in the River. And Bridge. D'uh.
Anyway, loved the setting, the plot and the characters. I do wish we'd gotten Julian's POV as we only see his actions and words through the lens of others. Weirdly, I actually kinda liked that we got the 2nd POV from a (major) side character. Tiff was funny and real. I'm glad she also took a chance on Crack.

No...now I'm worried. Jane has my phone number but maybe, if everyone is amenable, we could all exchange so we can check on each other?

Low-angst story with a bit more humor than I'm used to from this author. What a great surprise. Lee with his bi awakening and Daniel patiently moving along without being a pushover. Lovely secondary cast of characters, lots of smexy times and loads of sweetness overall. Fun read.
