Favorite January read: A tie between Mexican Gothic and A Children's Bible
Least favorite: Oh, how to choose. Willa Cather is so blatantly racist, it isn't even about the quality of the book. Audible freebies were meh to traumatizing. This month was a shit show with a few points of light.

Favorite March read: I can't believe I had 5 5-star books this month!!! For different reasons, there are three:
â£ï¸ The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion is the queer anarchist novel I've been waiting for and didn't even know!
â£ï¸ Jade City was just a terrific and refreshing Asian epic fantasy.
â£ï¸ The Unspoken Name was my most enjoyable listen. It made me truly happy.
Least favorite: Hands down, Michelle Tea is on my shit list.

Favorite July read: There isn't one clear favorite, this was a very 3.5 to 4-star month. But I guess This Savage Song and A Memory of Souls will stay with me in the most positive way, and also Firebreaker was a bit of a revelation. So, three of 16.5 (Split Tooth not listed) is as decisive as I'm gonna get.
Least favorite: My only clear 3-star was The Little Shop of Found Things, so this one.

Favorite August read: Another 3-4 star month of a lot of sequels and no clear "blew my mind" books. I guess this month should be dedicated to T. Kingfisher who provided much joy and is a wonderful discovery. I also really liked Hollow Kingdom.
Least favorite: Terra Nullius, by far.

🎧 🗼 ðŸ¿Ò🾶â€ðŸ¦ The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸
Favorite September read: Ugh. Everything is 4 stars. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's like: I can't really focus and nothing is giving me that extra wow factor. Lot's of really good books, so I'll point out Bo-Young Kim for the new factor, and Seanan McGuire and C. L. Polk for keeping me interested.

Favorite October read: I don't usually reread books anymore, but somehow this month I reread TWO: One a classic favorite (Watership Down) and one a new favorite (Gideon the Ninth). Is it fair to count them? Barring those, my next favorite was Swordheart, and I'd definitely count T. Kingfisher as the discovery of the year.
Least favorite: I DNFed Chilling Effect, so that one.
