And I read

My review: /review/show...

This book had everything I would want. A little spicy romance, suspense, intrigue, emotion, passion, witty banter. I am shocked at the poor reviews because I really enjoyed this. Two women, one good, one bad. One hunky Highlander coming to England, not wanting to be there and angry regarding his herirtage to find he is betrothed to a woman he has never met. That woman thinks he is a barbarian and lets him know it infront of a household of guests to try to get her parents to stop this nonsence. A sweet young lady who has some "ghosts" in her closet, who imagines she will never find anyone who will marry her. The making of a great story line. I loved Sabrina's love for life and laughter. Looking forward to the rest in the series.

my review

I’m listening to Down a Dark Road by Linda Castillo, Kate Burkholder #9.

A fairly enjoyable story line but I felt it had every unbelievable characters and situations. I felt the atmosphere regarding racism in the 19th century was inappropriately and historically incorrect. I also couldn't see some duchess from England traveling the wild parts of the country in a carriage and her group of servants and protectors at all believable. I did enjoy the banter between the two main characters. Colt was nothing like I would have expected a half breed to be or act like, and Jocelyn was a spoiled brat. The ending had no substance to match the rest of the book. It felt unfinished to me. I was disappointed in this book as I really have enjoyed other books from this author. It was just okay.

It was a good romance book. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the story line and characters. I feel that neither were well established from the beginning. Didn't really get the history of the two sisters until way past into the book.

And I finished reading

My review: /review/show...

Danny is a young women who lives on the streets with very little memory of her past after a club to her head as a child. She dresses and looks like a boy so her "leader" of the gang doesn't make her a prostitute. She is a very good thief. Jeremy Malory and his friend set up a trap to get a thief to go and steal their posessions back from another thief. Malory can tell at once she is no male. Once Danny does this deed, she is kicked out of the gang. She finds Malory and blackmails him into giving her a job so she can better herself and find a reputable man to marry and start a family with. Bits and pieces haunt her as her memory starts to return. Jeremy Malory only wants to get her into his bed.
I found this had a decent story line, but I didn't care for either of the main characters. As spunky and independent as Danny was, I was disgusted that she would become the one thing she promised herself she would never be. Someone's mistress. I found Jeremy Malory a sexual abuser and was contstantly making lude suggestions and touching her. Sorry Amazon, but I thought he was a pig? Not my kind of a spicy, historical romanance

This is a wondeful story. Ada falls from her horse and is saved by the dashing Jeremia and then they fall for each other. But because of a feud between thier fathers, there is no chance they can ever be together. Their fathers can't let go of the past and hate each other too much to even want them to know each other. There is so much opposition, anger and old wounds. This story is a full of passion, tears, tasteful steamy romance and mystery. I thought all of the characters were so well defined and believable. I loved and cried with all of them. Just the most wonderful, enjoyable book. Would like to give this book for than a 5 star review. I would surely recommend this book.

First in the series starting with Catherine Calhoun. They are losing their beautiful home to a tycoon, hotelier Trenton St. James. They meet in a most unusual way and C.C. takes a defensive, immediate dislike to the man. C.C. and her sisters and Aunt Coco have lived in this house all their lives and have been trying to keep its upkeep for years. But it is falling apart, and they just don't have the money to keep it. C.C. will not give it up without a fight. And that is what Trent and C.C. do. Fight! As predicted, they fall in love. What I didn't like was, as strong and independent the two female characters are, they gave in way too quickly to their emotions and the men. I really enjoyed the past journals of the former matriarch Bianca who long ago threw herself out the tower window to her death over a man she loved who was not her husband. I am going to finish the series because I am intrigued regarding the emerald necklace.

My review: /review/show...

Melanie Benson wants to travel the world and get away from her demanding father and Chicago. Her plan is to run away with a traveling salesman, Adrian. But after receiving news of her aunts failing health, her father sends her to Texas to care for her. Dr Charlie Noble is the physician caring her aunt and this was no love at first sight. There is hostility against Charlie in the town following the death of a child. But as time goes on Charlie and Melanie become friends and find they do have some things in common. Melanie is now in charge trying to get her aunts store together and Charlie has helped her. Even though Melanie still planned on going back to Chicago and run away with Adrian, she realizes that she is having second thoughts and her feelings are changing. This book finds itself in the midst of evil, suspense and mystery along with forgiveness and romance. It was a very heartwarming story. The extended epilogue was a wonderful ending. The only problem I saw with the Kindle addition was terrible editing. I would certainly recommend this book.
