PtP - Nerdy Niners (9)

2. Lead Rapper - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)
3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of Black & White, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)
Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 7 September.
4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)
5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!
* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.
You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.
I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.
Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.
6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.
7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.
8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.
9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)
10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.
The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

For selection post Option 1 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please note which qualifying bookshelf/list you are using or the tags that justifies that it works.
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.
For selection post Option 2 you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.
For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS
For the completion post you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review
Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.
If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.
IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post. I don't want to have to keep going backwards in the thread.

Hmm, intro time, lol. I'm Carmen, I live in NY. I went back to work last your as an administrator for union company. I just became a first time grandmother Friday, Sept. 1st, I am a mother of 5 kids/adults. I enjoy reading, swimming, dancing and binge watching shows on Netflix. I enjoy all genres but my favorites are mystery and romance.

I'm Kayleigh and I live in England. I work as a Hospice nurse in sunny West Sussex (well sometimes sunny 💁♀). I live with my husband who has plenty of his own hobbies so doesn't mind that I spend nearly all of my free time reading!
I'll read pretty much anything within the romance genre but I'm happier when it has spice and plot 😉. RH is probably my least read trope because I'm more of a one man woman but have been known to dabble in the occasional RH romance.
Looking forward to the challenge! Wondering how the timings work for me in the UK but hopefully i'll pick that up too.
I will be on holiday week of the 10th October so I may need to use my pass then if that suits.

It’s my first time participating so curious to see how it goes!
I enjoy romance with some spice, good character development & plot. Love a good romcom, enemies too lovers, small town romance, brother’s best friend, etc. Not into darker stuff so much.
Excited to start!
Hi all!
Apologies for the delay in getting here. My name is Sarah and I am from Toronto, Ontario (waving... Jill, maybe we are neighbors!) I work in client services, am married, no kids (just cats).
I love romance novels, but also mysteries, historical fiction, and true crime. I also have a YouTube channel where I talk all about books!

I mostly read romance, fantasy and mysteries. Besides reading I am passionate about cooking, really improved my baking skills thanks to lockdown. I used to travel a lot, not so much since 2020.
I am about to finish university, with a degree in IT and management.

I have been in this challenge quite a few times and love it.

Hi Kayleigh - you will need to get a GR librarian in the group to update your book's edition since the other edition on GR shows a page count of only 60pp. We need a min of 100pp but it can be from any edition.
If there had only been one edition (the one you have linked to) on GR you could have just linked to Amazon (still allowing links to their website ~ I guess 'cos they own GR).

Thanks Karen!! So long as it updates, that's all that matters :) 🥰

Cowboys Mine Stacey Espino

Rating: 2 stars
Review: This book was okay. Eva and her twin neighbors, North & Colton have been friends since children. When they go on a trip together, she discovers that she is in love with them. Everything moves very slowly until the last chapter and all of a sudden all is worked out.

Week # 1
Option 1

Her Alpha Dog by Katana Collins
Date read: 11/9/22
Rating: 4*
Review: I really enjoyed this novella. For the length of the book I found I did connect to the characters and loved Cola the dog too. Chelsea and Josh meet when she becomes his dog walker while he is busy filming (he and his brothers are in a show like impractical jokers). Their chemistry is instant - not much time for it to be dragged out. Add some forced proximity after Chelsea stays with Josh following a little accident involving Cola chasing a squirrel, a little jealousy over an ex's bandmate, some OW drama in the form of a crazy celebrity stalker and a bit of an age gap and this was a winner. As with all Novella's I enjoy, I only wish it was longer.

Option 1

Review: It's hard to say much about this book without giving too much away! As many other reviewers say, it's best to sort of go in blind, which was what I did. This book is quite a mystery most of the way through, at the end I was still left pretty confused! I guess that's why there are 2 more books in the series.
After spending most of her life living with her mother, Cecelia goes to live with her father in his small town. While working at her father's plant, to earn her inheritance (that she is working hard for to give to her mother), she meets Sean, who changes her entire world.

I adored this book. It was absolutely delightful. I loved the characters of Max and Molly and how they worked together not just to save the aquarium, but also in their person relationship. The secondary characters in this book were perfect as well, I always adore matchmaking seniors in books. Plus, who can forget all the delightful dogs (and a few cats).
