MountainKat | 30360 comments Information required when posting your completion/s:

Task
Book/cover link
Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 30360 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

message 5: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 920 comments Hi everyone! I'm excited to be apart of this team! I have participated in the last two rounds of the challenge and have kind of fallen in love with it. LOL

I'm Ariel, 28, and from Southwest Florida. I am always up for trying new genres but truly love romance and mystery. The same goes for my television watching - I love a good detective mystery.

Unless someone else wants to do it, I don't mind being the team leader to keep track of where our team is.

Do we have team name ideas? My suggestion: Reading Between the Spines.

message 6: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Hi Guys!! First time doing a challenge here so I am more than happy following your lead Ariel! I'm a 32 year old stay at home mom from Minnesota. I mostly have read romance but am willing to expand.

I'm good with whatever name honestly doesn't matter to me. Can you give a little idea of how it works? Do we have one challenge at a time and then move on once we all complete? Not sure exactly the run down.

Happy reading everyone :)

message 7: by Ariel (last edited Apr 05, 2023 10:37PM) (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 920 comments Welcome, Brittney! First challenges are always exciting but nerve-wracking. That is pretty much a basic view of it all. Everyone will get the same first challenge and from there it'll depend on how fast each team moves through them.

Once we all complete the challenges and post our completions here in this thread, I or someone else on the team will post in the completed thread and once it gets the okay, we'll get another task. Some of them are easy to just book and read for but others will require a team decision such as the same author or read books that all take place in the same setting, etc.

message 8: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2744 comments Hi everyone! I'm Vi, I live currently in Netherlands so I'm atleast 6 hours ahead of you. Fantasy and romance are my favorite genres with an occasional mystery.

This is my first time with this challenge. I've gotten back to reading regularly after a few years when my second was born. He started school beginning this year and I finally have more time for myself.

message 9: by Shia (new)

Shia (808bookdr) | 128 comments Aloha everyone!

I’m Shia from Hawaii so definitely in a later time zone than all of you! Sorry if that means my responses are delayed!

Thank goodness we have you Ariel because this is my first time! I definitely don’t mind you being our team captain!

Romance and Fantasy are my fave genres!

message 10: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2744 comments We just need to come up with team names I guess. Ariel, I'm ok with you being captain also. Is there any task that we need to prepare for?

Regarding your team name suggestion: Reading Between the Spines sounds good. Any other suggestions? (I'm awful coming up with team names)

message 11: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (aellen) | 920 comments Oh goodness, I guess everyone here deserves a welcome to the challenge! LOL Since I'm the only who has participated before then I would be glad to take the team leader position.

There are a couple tasks we could probably prepare for.

a. What are some favorite authors of you guys? Some of the tasks require reading the same author or series.
b. "Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide." What are some of your guys favorite sub-genres in romance?
c. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task. (Sanibel, Florida, Fort Myers, Florida, or Cape Coral, Florida work for me). What about you guys?
d. "As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task." Any suggestions?
e. "Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate." Mine was 2013.
f. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope. (Favorite romance tropes?)
g. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series. What are some of your guys favorite romance series?
h. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them. What are some of your guys 5 favorite books?

These are just some of the tasks that require the use of each other instead of just picking random books. I will double post and post my answers in another reply.

oooo Daughter of the Forest! I've been meaning to reread this since it's been years!

Brittney Teigland | 386 comments Hi guys! Just saw the challenge. Is everyone cool if we just select this month and look for an April publication?

Happy reading!

Ariel (aellen) | 920 comments Task 1 - 0. Each teammate reads a book initially published in a Spring Month - March, April, May or June, of any year. Teams decide which month. No pass for this task.

I am more than okay with choosing April.

Task # -- :
Task:

How Book Fits: (What makes it qualified: This is where you would put the publication date)

No need to screenshot. I will double check once you post it.

When you finish a book that fits the task, you fill out this form and post it in here. Once everyone has completed the task, I will post in the main thread with everyone's links. We'll get another task after that and so on and so forth.

I'm sorry, but this book does not qualify. The initial publication date is February 7, 2015 - not in April. From the task description:

So for your first task, as a team select a Spring Month - March, April, May or June. Each teammate then reads a book initially published in the selected month of any year. If there is a date at the top of the editions page - USE IT! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected month and the initial publication date in your completion posts.

I will assign the next task anyway, but this book will need to be made up before Task 3 will be assigned.

MountainKat | 30360 comments Here is your next task!

Task 2 - 8. Read 4 books with a beach on the cover.

To qualify for this task, the book’s cover needs to clearly and obviously show a beach. Ideally, you would want to show sand/dirt and the edge of water on your covers. You can use any edition’s cover to qualify for this task. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion posts.

OK, that is really weird. It looks like the completed first part of the story was initially published in April or something like that...

So, I don't need this book to be made up. Just remember to use the info on GR going forward. Also, since the book will count, the page count needs to be corrected to 285.
