MountainKat | 30245 comments Information required when posting your completion/s:

Task
Book/cover link
Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 30245 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

MountainKat | 30245 comments I may be adding another player, just waiting to hear back. I'm not sure how competitive they want to be.

If I do, you will be a team of 5 and tasks will be adjusted as necessary. I can guarantee that I will forgot - probably more than once! Please reach out if there isn't a correction for tasks that require a certain number of books or minimum page count.

If you fail to reach out and finish a task that hasn't been adjusted, your task will not be considered complete and you will not get a new task until the adjustment has been made up. So please let me know I messed up - again!

~KarenH~ | 10958 comments Hey everyone...it's great to be back together again! I'm sorry we're missing Courtney, but Kathy, I was so happy to see you sign up at the last minute since you were with us before. Welcome back!

I copied the task lists from the last time we were all together - I'm sure they'll need some updating, but at least we have a good start. Once we figure out who is going to be 'captain' we'll need some tracking posts opened too.

If anyone wants to look back at our previous round to refresh memories on books we chose, etc. here's a link: /topic/show/...

I would rather not captain, please 😊

You're welcome! I'm just glad I had another form of contact for you since GR has messed up the notifications so badly (for those of us that depended on the emails anyway). And speaking of which - everyone remember to check the 'Notify me...' box at the bottom of the thread. It baffles me that even if you have the box checked to notify you about activity in a specific group, you still have to check the box in each individual thread if you want notifications for that thread. 😠

My work schedule is unpredictable so I never know four sure when I'm going to be around...I'm generally here daily, but no telling when. Since posting the completions for Kat can be done by anyone I'd be ok acting as captain for what record-keeping we have, but if anyone else is willing to do it, that would be great. My organizational skills are practically non-existent these days!

I will actually be at work and won't be available for the first task announcement, so whatever decision needs to be made (and there generally is one), just make it without me and I'll find something that works.

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 695 comments Hey everyone! Sorry, I’m late. Work has been crazy this week. I’m excited for another round. I’ve been in a on again off again reading slump this year. This challenge always pushes me to read more.

message 13: by Chan (new)

Chan | 4996 comments I was wondering what was going on with the notifications. Thanks for the tip to check the notify me box. What is GR doing?!

I'm with you, Liz. I wouldn't say I'm in a slump per se, but my passion for reading definitely took a hit. So, I'm excited to see what wonderful books I'll pick up this round of TART.

The change to the notifications has been such a pain! They've completely done away with email notifications for group activities and messages, not sure what all else. I actually think it's a way to force people to actually go to the site to check...more clicks on GR pages instead of just looking at an email and knowing it's not something you need to worry about. Anyway, whatever their reasoning, it has taken some major retraining for me to actually go to a GR page and look at the notifications icon. I'm getting better at it, but I still miss stuff occasionally. I don't understand requiring clicking the box on each thread though...seems like that would have the opposite effect since you won't get notifications for all threads, but what do I know??? 🤪

I haven't been in a reading slump per se, but I have been feeling the need for comfort reads rather than reading new stuff...been plowing through a LOT of In Death rereads lately, along with a few other series that I know I can count on not throwing me curves!

message 15: by Chan (new)

Chan | 4996 comments That actually sounds good.

I might try to do a full reread of in death and some of KA's series.

There is a 150 page minimum for books, rereads and audios ok. Books may only be used once per player during the challenge. Players may read the same book for a task unless otherwise specified. Books do not have to be romance, but must be fiction.

message 22: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 10958 comments The task lists are in msgs 6 and 7...just copied straight from our last round together so probably mostly ok, but if everyone could take a quick look through to make sure there's nothing you'd reallly like to see changed, that would be great!

message 23: by Chan (last edited 22 hours, 7 min ago) (new)

Chan | 4996 comments I'm going to pick books that at least two people have on their shelves (with the exception of one pick). I think we can use the series rule, so I'll put book 1 of the series.

Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley
Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews
Fatal Affair (Fatal, #1) by Marie Force

Chan | 4996 comments Tasks

1: Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
- can we do something else Nora Roberts maybe?

49: Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task.
- Do we want to keep May 2021? There are a few books in March and April of 2021 that could read. Also open to something else.

53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.
Washington (Karen), Georgia (Chan), Texas (Liz), Illinois (Kathy)
- Should we pick something now? I know Ilona Andrews has a series in Texas (Innkeeper Chronicles) and another series in Georgia (Kate Daniels)

64. Read 6 books not set on a continent of a teammate. Space does not count - must be a real continent.
- What about Europe?

73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.
- what about Lisa Kleypas?

90. Each member reads a book published in sequential months, i.e. June, July, August and September 2019. Teams decide which months. No pass for this task.
August - November 2021 or February - May 2022
- Which one? August November 2021 or Feb May 2022?

92. Read over 1500 pages in books set in the future or the past - teams decide.
-Could we go with future?

1. I'm good with any changes...and always up for Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb - although I think if an author uses multiple names, we have to read the one that we list - so in this case (just as an example) we couldn't read an In Death book unless both names are listed as authors. Just posted a question for Kat as to whether or not we can use it if the other author's name is on the book cover but not listed on the book page.

49. Again, happy with any change...we could also go with something more recent, sometime in 2023 or 2024 maybe?

53. We should pick a location - we don't need to all read the same book, just the same location. I can think of books pretty easily that work for any of them, so if anyone has a preference, I'm fine with whatever.

64. We don't have to choose here...we can all read different locations. We just can't read anything in North America since we all live here. That being said, Europe is probably going to be the easiest for everyone!

73. I'd be happy with Lisa Kleypas

90. Again, this list is a year (or probably more) old, so if we want to come forward to something more recent, that's also an option.

92. I'm always great with future! 😃

message 26: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 10958 comments Ok, Kat just responded to my question, and pseudonyms can be used, so if we were to choose Nora Roberts we could also do J.D. Robb.

message 27: by Chan (new)

Chan | 4996 comments Yay for pseudonyms!

1. Liz and Kathy, are you both okay with Nora Roberts/JD Robb?

49. What about Jan 2023 or March 2023?

53. Yes, i was just saying Texas and Georgia would be easy for me to read 😊. We could also do Washington, i think Jill Shalvis' books are set there. does anybody have a preference between, Texas, Georgia and Washington?

73. Liz and Kathy, are you okay with Lisa Kleypas?

90. What about Jan 2023 - April 2023?

92. Liz and Kathy, are you okay with future?

message 28: by Chan (new)

Chan | 4996 comments Not trying to be pushy with the questions, but in a couple of weeks i will be insanely busy with graduation at my job. So, I'm just trying to settle some of the tasks that require collaboration.

message 29: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 10958 comments Most of Shalvis' books are set in California I think, but the Lucky Harbor series is set in Washington. The only other authors that I can think of at the moment that set a decent number of their books in Washington are Jayne Ann Krentz and Susan Mallery. There are lots of series or parts of series around that are set in the Seattle area though.
