I think I am going to read Shadowflame now, good review.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying Laurell K. Hamilton's books any more. I am currently at book 7, but I wonder how long I will last.
By the way, if we finish our current shelves we have 4 on a row, yay! (:

This is a fantastic follow up to Dragon Bound, even if it's not quite at the same level.
The beginning was a little slow for me, Niniane's character didn't quite mesh with the view of her I received in the first book. The more I read and settled into the story, the more things picked up and I grew to understand Niniane better. Betrayed at a young age and running for her life, she found shelter with the Wyr. Knowing her physical and magical strength left her at a disadvantage, they taught her to fight with any means at her disposal. That and her innate people skills are her biggest assetts on her return to Dark Fae lands. She has understandable trust issues, but is willing to open herself up to people anyway.
After another attempt on her life, Tiago's first impulse is to pack Niniane up and return her to Wyr safety, yet he understands her need to return to the Dark Fae territory and gives her full backing. Despite the few stormy outbreaks in the story, I would have still liked to have seen more of his Thunderbird aspect.
Once again, Harrison has written a wonderful paranormal romance and I can't wait for Rune's story and a chance to learn more about this world.

Thanks, Regina. After all, it's only a book. (view spoiler) Hope you enjoy it.
Great review, Daffodil. Stamp coming! Yay! :D

We now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'fantasy paranormal'.
[Our new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

Anyway ... YAY, Team! :D
I've finished my book for the current shelf and will post a review in a bit.

Venom is the third book of the Elemental Assassin series and this series just keeps getting better with each book. Gin Blanco is a retired assassin, restaurant owner and rare Elemental with the ability to control both ice and stone. When she discovers her baby sister is in town working as a detective, she has to keep her real identity and history as an assassin a secret while protecting her from harm. Gin's vampire friend, Roslyn, asks for help in getting rid of a stalker who works for Gin's biggest enemy, the powerful fire elemental Mab Monroe, and things get really interesting. The elemental magic world is so intriguing and this book is a thrilling ride with plenty of action, humor and a little romance too. The quirky secondary characters of Finn and the dwarves, Sophia and Jo-Jo, are very entertaining and I love Owen. (view spoiler) And then Gin finally declares war on Mab for killing her mother and older sister 17 years ago. Can't wait to see what happens next in Tangled Threads!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

And, I forgot to post my review yesterday, so I'll work on that right now. BRB.

Review:
I read the first book, Kiss & Hell in this series/duology/whatever Dakota plans to make it in 2009 and gave it 4. I thought it was a stand alone, so I was happy when I spotted this one last year. I didn't re-read #1, but did remember the basic gist of it, I also remember it having plenty of giggle, if not LOL, moments. This one, however, did not. In fact I didn't have re-read #1 (and thank the book/time Gods that I didn't) because the characters constantly chatted about the events of book 1. As for what it's about, the GR blurb says it all, no differently than I would:
After defying Lucifer to save her best friend Delaney, ex-demon Marcella Acosta has been banished to exist in the plane between heaven and hell-and there isn't a shopping mall in sight. After numerous failed attempts to contact Delaney through a bunch of hack mediums, Marcella's at her wit's end. But there's one medium she's hasn't tried yet, and he just happens to be Delaney's scorching hot brother Kellen- the one guy who never gave Marcella the time of day.
The characters I enjoyed in book 1 only drove me batshit crazy in book 2. The way she had them talking was probably meant to be funny, but felt like bad ghettospeak. The fun, sexual tension between Marcella and Kellen from book one just wasn't felt in this one which is sad b/c they're the two that make up this PNR's HEA.
Overall, I'd recommend readers go for Dakota's Accidentally (AKA: Accidental Friends) series instead of bothering with this one (or stop after #1). AF continues to get me laughing, whereas this one had me rolling my eyes and huntin' around for the fake finger gun (to put me out of my misery) from page 2 thru to the end.

And, I forgot to post my review yesterday, so I'll work on that right now. BRB."
Steph, the next one

Regina, >;) Well, the series is dark. (view spoiler)

I will probably read

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Shelf #10: first in series (G16)
Finished: 0/6
Celine -
Daffodil -
Amanda - Nightfall
Steph - Skin Game
Regina - A Hunger Like No Other
Sassy (Amy) - Ecstasy

Skin Game is good.

Though it looks like you've still got some good choices, I've only read 2 - The Knife of Letting Go and A Hunger Like No Other and loved them both (although it'd be hard to find books that are less alike lol).

Skin Game is good."
I was having the same problem with Nightfall and ended up giving in to buy the paperback. Amazon dropped the price of the paperback to $7.50 about a month ago (probably due to slow sales) but it is back to regular price now. Hopefully the price will drop again soon.

I enjoyed Skin Game, but I was expecting something different so my rating was 3. But, I have the next couple in the series, so I'll be continuing on with it. I'll post my review soon.
ETA: Amanda, I'm looking forward to your review of Nightfall. I've been wanting to read it for a while, but it always seems to get lost in the shuffle.

I am going to save First Days for apocalyptic or trilogy shelf.
I am reading

Let me know what you think of First Days, I'm waiting until they're out as ebooks but I might try her other series which seem to be pretty well-received :)

3 stars
A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole

I went into this book expecting to hate it due to the kidnapping theme. I also expected to bored, as I am by most PNR books/series. There are a few I really enjoy, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Highlanders (by Moning), and Demonica, but the others just seem so repetivie to me and it is hard for me to keep going. I expected the same out of Immortals After Dark. This book completely surprised me. I devoured this book. I couldn't put it down. I read it late at night and at work. Yes I knew they would end up together, but the how really interested me. There were some similiarities to Dark Highlander, which I really liked so maybe that helped me. However, that the premise of the romance began due to loss of freedom bothered me, thus it lost 1.5 stars due to this. I recommend this book to people who enjoy PNR and Highlander books. I am so glad I read it!

Glad you liked IAD, Regina. I've only read the prequel short, but want to continue on w/that series at some point.
Realized I didn't write up my review yesterday, so I'll do that this AM before I forget again.
Hope everyone's having a good week so far.

Shelf: read in 2010
Read: 25 Sept
Rating: ★★★☆
Review: The beginning was way better than the 2nd 1/2. Kyra has a unique and interesting ability. Reyes (H) is an assassin and Kyra (h) is his target. Other than Kyra's ability, it was more of a romantic suspense read than a PNR. I liked the two main characters and they had some smokin' sexual tension. I liked how they were good people who did bad things. While I love Ann Aguirre (this book is written under pseudonym Ava Gray), this was not one of my favorites. I may eventually check out the other books in the series, but I'm not in any big rush to do so. But, those who enjoy romantic suspense series w/a dash of PN should enjoy it.
