LOL. Go for it. Tell us all the good ones and the bad ones too.

Josie | 1967 comments Lol!

I seem to be having trouble finishing a book lately but Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward is looking promising - nearly done now since I need to return it to the library tomorrow! :)

message 3: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I've read two books so far for 2012 - Nothing Ever Happens by Sue Brown and Infinite Days (Vampire Queen, #1) by Rebecca Maizel . The first was ok, if a little bit sad. The second was a total disappointment and I even ranted a bit in my review. So, 2012 is not off to that good a start. BUT! I've started Eona The Last Dragoneye (Eon, #2) by Alison Goodman which has started very strongly (I loved the first book) and buddy reading Rhapsody Child of Blood (Symphony of Ages, #1) by Elizabeth Haydon which I'm hoping I'll end up liking.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I've started reading The Demon Lover (Fairwick Chronicles, #1) by Juliet Dark and so far it's looking pretty good :)

message 5: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments It's OK Sandra. I still haven't gotten used to the fact that it is 2012 yet. Wrong dates, wrong mentions etc. It's so embarrassing :(

One done, second halfway through...then back to Ares!!!

message 7: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I've read Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane and Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane so far this year and just started on Head Rush (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #3) by Carolyn Crane . I'm in love with that series!

message 9: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4034 comments So far I've read Magic Gifts (Kate Daniels, #5.4) by Ilona Andrews , which was a great treat! and because I wasn't paying attention Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken , must of been the lure of the cover.
Also listened to Shadow Heir (Dark Swan, #4) by Richelle Mead on audio, can't believe this is the final book of the series.

Currently working thru a very steamy Lawe's Justice (Breeds, #26) by Lora Leigh ...

message 10: by Eliabeth (new)

Eliabeth Hawthorne (eliahawthorne) | 30 comments I gave 4 stars to Eric (Discworld, #9) by Terry Pratchett and I'm currently reading The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins .

message 11: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I'm currently (finally) reading Shade (Shade, #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready . Interesting start so far.

message 12: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 145 comments I'm reading Spirit Bound (Sisters of the Heart, #2) by Christine Feehan , rereading Knitting Rules! The Yarn Harlot's Bag of Knitting Tricks by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee , and listening to Midnight Crystal (Dreamlight Trilogy, #3; Arcane Society, #9; Harmony, #7) by Jayne Castle in the car with Getting Rid Of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie waiting in the wings.

message 13: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I'm also supposed to be reading Nothing Ever Happens by Sue Brown but I couldn't stop listening to Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor , which I started yesterday.

Also, something really weird happened to the audiobook of Scandalous Desires (Maiden Lane #3) by Elizabeth Hoyt , which I had been listening. The first love scene is missing! (I checked it on Google Books and there was definitely not a fade to black.)

message 14: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I just finished First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones . At one chapter in, I didn't think I'd really like it. But it surprised me and in the end I really enjoyed it.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I am currently listening to the glorious James Marsters read Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files, #8) by Jim Butcher in the car, reading Retribution (Dark-Hunter, #20) by Sherrilyn Kenyon in hardcover, and Get Lucky (Tall, Dark & Dangerous #9) (Silhouette Intimate Moments, #991) by Suzanne Brockmann (what can I say, it's free from the library) on the e-reader at the gym. All three are from my library so I am still good for my check book balance!

message 16: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25884 comments Yay Christine, I've got that one to read this month too, glad you ended up liking it.

Go Heather!

I'm reading Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) by Jennifer Estep and enjoying it immensely.

message 17: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh...I can't wait to get there! I've got Venom (Elemental Assassin, #3) by Jennifer Estep on my list this month!

I'm reading Kitty's Greatest Hits by Carrie Vaughn (DTB), Me and My Shadow (Silver Dragons, #3) by Katie MacAlister (e) and listening to Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld . I generally hate doing more than one at a time, but they're all different forms, and very different styles, so it's weird but fun...

message 18: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments Sandra, I'm hoping to finally start Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep by the end of this month. I'm glad to hear the later books are good.

message 19: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25884 comments Christine, #5 is the big fight book so I'm savouring it :D

I can't help wondering what she's gonna write about in the next 2 books? LOL

message 20: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I'm just starting The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

message 21: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Ah...been hearing about that. Let us know what you think.

message 22: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments It took two months to get it from the library because the wait list was so long. I hope that's a good sign, but then I haven't had the best of luck lately with books other people raved about. I'll definitely let you know.

message 23: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

I have just finished listening to The Watcher (Anna Strong Chronicles, #3) by Jeanne C. Stein (2 stars) and now I'll be listening to Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, #9) by Charlaine Harris .

I recently had a surgery in my eyes, so no reading for me yet. Thank god for the audiobooks

What did you think of Questing Beast, Josie? I've got it as well but I'm feeling really lazy about reading it for some reason.

message 36: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Erm well I hate to say this but I didn't really enjoy it all that much. Struck me as kind of... pointless I suppose, with too much technical jargon that you're never going to know the meaning of. It picked up nearer the end and it's really short so if you do read it, it won't take very long at all :)

Yeah I thought as much. I wasn't getting very good vibes from it. Ah well. Thanks for the heads-up!

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Currently Reading: Masters at Arms (Rescue Me, #1) by Kallypso Masters

From what I've heard, this novel is set up in 5 parts. The first three are prequels for some of the heroes & their heroines. The 4th is about how they met & the 5th is set in the present at their "club". So far, so good. Especially at $0.99

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments Finally got my hand on Sins of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #4) by Diana Rowland . The cover is hideous! I do not know why they change the beautiful style...hoping the story did not suffer.

I'm with you on that. I loved the covers of the first two books. The cover on the first one was what got me to pick it up in the first place. But these last two just don't work for me. Too cartoonish or something. They don't do justice to the quality of the writing inside.

message 42: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25884 comments I agree. They remind me of the Kitty Kat covers and whilst they work for them, being scifirom, they don't work for the demons.

Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2) by Gini Koch Alien in the Family (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #3) by Gini Koch Alien Proliferation (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #4) by Gini Koch Alien Diplomacy (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #5) by Gini Koch

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9652 comments Lol. Right you are. I'm not finished with the book yet but there is a tentacle-like scene in the book. Nothing scifi R-rated....but I still think the cover art is not a good idea.

Take 2, about to start One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost

Yesterday I decided to re-read Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh instead for the Psy-Changeling challenge :)

Just as good as always, in fact probably better :D

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments Currently reading The Mortal Instruments Series in audio:
I am on City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare . On an unrelated to the group note I am also slowly reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde on my Kindle Fire and am happy to finally by reading Oscar Wilde. I like it so far it is just a different type of writing than what I am used to.

message 46: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Just finished Master of Crows by Grace Draven which I really really liked :)

message 47: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern . I just adored this book. But it's probably not for everyone. It's not fast-paced and action-packed in the way that many UF and PNR are. Even the romance isn't handled like a typical romance novel as the main characters spend most of their time physically distant from one another. I think the description of the books makes it sound a bit more action adventure than it is. I mean "a fierce competition" between two young magicians? There is none of the Harry Potteresque spell-slinging that you might expect from that description. But I was captivated by the imagery and the mood of the story and found myself on the edge of my seat near the end, holding my breath waiting to see what would become of these characters and their circus.

I've read Wilde as well and found that he is one of the 'classic' authors that I actually like quite a bit. I still can't get into Dickens (urgh!) and Melville is never going to happen. EV-ER. Wilde has got some fun quotes...I think he would have been an entertaining guy to know back in the day.

I hope you like PoDG!
