What we're listening to
Just started listening to Resurrection Bay for my other book group and I’m loving everything about this audiobook. The narrator is fabulous! And the writing is spot on. The main character is deaf, and Australian. He’s trying to solve the murder of a friend. The emotions are real, the parts about being deaf are correct. The whole thing... LOVE IT! No lgbtq characters though.

The audio files of The Ghost Had an Early Check-out are ready for my listening enjoyment.
As I'd mentioned, Michael Pauley is doing the narration this time around. It's a very different take from Max Miller, of course, but I *think* most people will enjoy it. I'm enjoying it!
The next audio project up is Seance on a Summer's Night and I booked a new narrator for that one. (Well, not totally new, but relatively new and certainly an unknown quantity for me.)
His name is Matt Haynes. He's done a couple of M/M projects. What I've heard so far on Seance sounds really good, so I'm excited about that.

Cool! Good news all around. :)
Yay for Ghost!!!
I’m currently listening to a concert of Loreena McKennitt’s recorded live years ago. Its called Nights From the Alhambra. I just love her work, and I especially like that this album makes old favorites sound just a bit different from the regular CDs.
My favorite song of hers is Marrakech Night Market, which evokes a kind of fantasy novel setting to me.

Pentatonix, an a cappella group, just posted a video of them doing Simon and Garfunkle's A Sound of Silence! It's beautiful!

I loved this too. The voicing wasn’t what I would have expected, but worked beautifully. Joel Leslie evoked a perfect “once upon a time feel for this story, a bit old Grimm and a lovely touch of romance.

I do that too. Listen obsessively to a thing over and over and over. I just want to *absorb* it.

I have the film, and I always thought that the film came before the musical, but I see now that it is the other way round than «Priscilla»!
By the way cross your fingers for me that I find cheap tickets to go and see the musical Priscilla on Wednesday with a friend.

I love the movie, and the soundtrack is fantastic!

The musical and the film are a little different, but they are both made by the same people and they're both spectacular. Off-Broadway musical first (1998), then movie (2001), then big-time Broadway revival in 2014. The movie is a little more of a linear narrative, whereas the musical is kind of a "one person telling a story in pieces" kind of show. Either way, it's funny and sad and moving and the music is amazing. It's a favourite movie of mine and I definitely recommend it.

I’m currently listening to The Glitch Mob, specifically their song Fortune Days. I wish I’d found them a long time ago. I’m loving this!
I'm not listening to this yet--it doesn't come out until June--but I wanted to order Stevie Nicks's huge retrospective compilation album and it's only available on VINYL.

So many library patrons I talk to, usually about our audiobooks on CD, when the digital copy is checked out, tell me they don’t have a CD player, which sorta boggles my mind. So, CDs are going out of style. We don’t buy as many. Then I get the patrons who are upset by that, because how could we not keep buying CDs at the same volume?!
I went to target recently after seeing How to Train Your Dragon across the street, to buy the soundtrack, but their CD collection was so pitiful they had maybe ten music CDs of randomness. But they did have Lindsay Sterlings Christmas album in record format. So it’s now on my Amazon wishlist.
CDs are out of style. I don’t want them to be, and other people aren’t recognizing this fact.
And yes, I still have my cassette player too. :-)

I'm creating a book list of romance in space books, and now I want to relisten to Dark Edge of Honor!
But I also just got Fadeout in audiobook and I want to listen to that too!
I wish I could listen to audiobooks while I drive as I'll be in the car for four hours tomorrow, but I'm afraid it will divert my attention from the road, so I'll stick to the radio. :-)

I just realized that we don't have The Art of Murder series playlists in one place here. I assume we have them posted in different discussions, but I wanted to put them in one place and did set up The Art of Murder Playlists topic. It can now be found in our JUST FOR FUN folder, but it will be moved in our PLAYLIST ARCHIVE folder at some point. That's where most of Josh's playlists can be found.
And yes, I, too, love these lists! They make the reading experience even richer, don't they? AND I've discovered so many wonderful new to me songs and artists/bands by listening to these playlists.

What I love about that playlist is a couple of the songs are applicable at different points to both Jason and Sam. I'm STILL listening to it although I should have switched over to my Mainly by Moonlight list by now...

Isn't he good? I love Kale's narration so much.
So much that I had to make a conscious decision to use some other narrators this year. It's one thing when I hear Kale's voice while I'm writing Sam and Jason. It's another when I hear it no matter what I'm writing! :-D

Oooh that's really interesting. I was assuming most of the songs were from Jason's POV, except for Green Eyes and maybe the Springsteen song and maybe the Snow Patrol song. Now I need to listen to the playlist again. Maybe while I make dinner, so I blame the onions for my tears. :)
