I know the song, but I had no idea about the background or the rest of the story. Thanks.

From Rage Against the Machine to Beyoncé, these songs honor the legacy of global Black resistance in song
David Furlong’s narration of Dal Maclean’s Bitter Legacy. Fabulously good reading of a favorite novel. Highly recommended.
I bought this last November, but it took Steve Leonard’s FB recommendation to finally listen. Started two days ago and finished in the early hours of this morning. :)

March March by The Chicks

Thank you. I had seen it, but I didn't know that The Chicks were the former Dixie Chicks!

Love this! I also hadn't realized they'd changed their name.

I thought I'd commented on this earlier: powerful and touching.

The

Audiobooks are the best right now and I just started The Magpie Lord last night. I read the ebook ages ago, bought the ebook some time back, and now I'm going in for a second read by listening to it. It's just as good the second time around and the narrator is really good! And I can't seem to put it down. lol.

I just did a complete reread of the Charm of Magpies series, including all the short stories. Love them so much. I haven't tried the audio, but maybe next time I an due reread.

You inspired me, Jordan. I've had the audiobooks for some time, just back-burnered. I listened to The Magpie Lord, and A Case of Possession this week, and started Flight of Magpies. Yes, the narrator is really good.

Yay! I paused after the first one to tryout Martha Wells Murderbot series, and I’ve had to pause that to start The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle for my library book group. Lol. But I’m looking forward to getting back to Magpies and Murderbot very soon!

Here what Jordan Castillo Price has to say:
If you love the books but haven’t heard the audio yet, I’m begging you to . Nick Hudson absolutely embodies Dixon Penn in all his ambitious, cheerful, sightly dense glory. And his Yuri is deliciously grumpy.

We can do this if we try, if we do it like it's do or die.
Do or Die by Ani Di Franco

Thank you!
I like Ani DiFranco but - like with other artists I like - I don't always manage to keep up with her...

History Maker by Dean Fujioka
In case anyone is wondering, like I was, there is a second season of Yuri!!! and also a movie in progress, currently delayed. :)

Thank you, really cheerful!

The music starts at minute 16, before there is some explaining in Italian.

My nieces are ARMY. And slowly but surely I've been coerced into listening. I love that song "Dynamite." I can't help smiling every time I hear it.

YES. I will be digging out the Christmas decorations and music early this year. Not that I'm feeling particularly holiday-ish, but I want to. I want to generate that feeling of comfort and joy.

One of my favorite songs is Fight Song by Rachel Platten. I use it at night as my alarm clock to help me try to get to bed at a decent hour, so it's one of those, I'm still fighting to keep good habits. When I'm not in the middle of something I can't put down, it doesn't help. But generally, it's okay.

They do have some catchy songs. I am not at all surprised they are the biggest band in the world. Here's "Dynamite:"

Also thanks to Josh and Josh' nieces ;-).
New Mexico Gay Men's Chorus "Home for the Holidays" virtual concert on YouTube. Happy to support them. A mix of beauty and sentimentality as to be expected from holiday concerts, and some very moving moments. The duet of Sarah McLachlan's "Wintersong" made me cry (at 21:04).

(''What A Wonderful Life'')
I'm glad that he also won the Sanremo Festival, a hugely popular thing in Italy, where not always the best wins ;-), with

I like also this version by John Zorn:

I'm not sure if I mentioned this here before, but I've hired one of the kidlings to act as my PA. :-) Yesterday, we put together (or tweaked) new playlists for the Secrets and Scrabble series. :-D
Murder at Pirate's Cove
Secret at Skull House
Mystery at the Masquerade
A very interesting process. Of course, if she had her way, most of the playlists would be all BTS. :-D

It's turning out to be so great for both of us. She gets out of the house and is earning a salary, and I love having her energetic, optimistic little personality. Plus she's SO smart. She catches on so fast and she's so tech savvy. I keep trying to explain stuff to her, and she ends up correcting me and showing me how it's actually done. :-D
