My hubby is currently working out of town, so lots of evenings to read. (The television hasn't been switched on since he left a week ago - so peaceful) We have a 26 year old son (still currently at home but working long hours) and a very spoiled kitty cat, named Georgiana (after Mr Darcy's sister).
Love to read, have always preferred it to any other activity. Over the last couple of years I have become adicted to audiobooks, and now housework isn't so much of a drag, they also make the gym bearable.
As to names, I am no good at that sort of thing - hopefully someone has a brainwave. This is my first time playing Bingo

I saw that after I asked. I've been keeping up with the odd story about the Ohio couple that came to Graceland and the wife apparently died when they got there or on the way. Now the authorities can't find her body. Really strange.

Very weird, Sandra. A couple from Ohio went to Memphis for the wife to see Graceland one last time. He says she died in the parking lot of a motel and he flagged down an ambulance that took her away. He spent the night then drove back to Ohio. A son filed a missing person report. There were no Jane Does found in Tennessee. Then the husband changed his story that she died on the way and he put her body in the Tennessee River to "return her to nature". I don't know if dementia is involved but everything is just odd.

I have a patient's mom that is fascinated by stories like this and she sends me links to read about this one.

Don't forget to work out a Captain. Game starts in less than a day.

I will try to scoot in here tomorrow for a better check in, but I like name Third Times the Charm.

Ok seems we now have a team name. Now we need a captain. This is my 3rd round and i was captain last round, have no problem doing it again if nobody else can or wants to.

I will be reading Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep

I'm surprised you didn't also read one of them for Free Space."
I thought about it! Gin Blanco is another addiction. I may be able to slide another In Death in somewhere.

Me too! I wish she would add recipes in the books. I guess I read too many cozies that have recipes. It's really not a UF thing but just saying.

Review:
The twist on the Pandora's Box myth is unique. However, I felt the reasoning behind the opening of the box and thus the initial basis of this book, and indeed the entire series very weak.
Maddox is a tortured arrogant hero with OTT alpha macho tendencies, but Ashlyn, who has withstood her own version of Hell, is a strong character match for him. I liked that both Maddox and Ashlyn both benefited in each other's company, and while that provided the basis for their relationship it was more believable as insta-lust rather than insta-love. Overall, a satisfying start to the series.

This was a new series for me and I'm glad a took a chance on reading this book. I thought the story was very engaging. I was drawn right in and look forward to reading the other books in the series.
I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I love that Jesse and her sisters are smart and strong and just as fierce as Hunter and his band of alien warriors. There was good action and romance.

Review:
Digging up a grave was hard, dirty work.
Gin has discovered a file on Finn's mother, Deirdre Shaw. A little grave digging turns up a box with information proving that she is not dead. Gin dreads giving Finn the news and unfortunately he learns the truth from Deirdre herself. Gin is suspicious of Deirdre from the start which creates a riff between her and Finn.
There is something about this series that just sucks me in. I originally had a problem with all the repetition in the books. For some reason it doesn't bother me any more. I enjoy learning things about Gin. This time it was through a recurring nightmare from when she was 14. It is heartbreaking to see how much she wanted to be a part of a family with Fletcher and Finn.
Gin's love for Finn makes his attitude so hard to take after he starts spending time with his mother. It fascinates me to see that Gin is vulnerable. She has spent so much time building up her reputation as a hard, uncaring person. To see her cry is difficult.
I love the interaction between the secondary characters in the book. You know that you can always depend upon Jo-Jo and Sophia. Owen has worked his way back up to "book boyfriend" status although I still feel disappointed in him at times. Bria and Gin have a wonderful bond. I'm happy to see it strengthen with each book.
The story line has twists and turns that keep your attention. I am always amazed how invested I get in these plots and feel like I am in the story.
I highly recommend this series and look forward to the next book.

Witness in Death by J.D. Robb

Review:
There was always an audience for murder.
Eve and Roarke are enjoying the play Witness for the Prosecution when the main character is killed on stage. Eve is immediately on the case. The actor, Richard Draco is a horrible person and Eve quickly learns that any number of people would be happy to see him dead.
What an interesting book! Dealing with seasoned actors puts a huge amount of stress on Eve and her investigating team. The truth is not always easy to sniff out from these people. There were so many twists and turns that I changed my mind repeatedly as to who the murderer was.
I love getting to know the characters from this series a little better with each book. Eve and Roarke are simply sigh worthy. Their relationship has grown and developed so much so far that I can't wait to see where it goes from here. I'm happy that Eve allows Roarke to assist her more now. She definitely keeps everything within the law but accepts that Roarke can provide her access to answers faster than the cops.
Peabody is one of my favorite characters. I enjoy watching her grow as a police officer and an independent woman. Her relationships are complicated. Eve has never truly had a best friend and doesn't understand the intricacies involved in being a good friend.
The story line is strong and kept me guessing. There are so many overlapping stories that kept me intrigued.
Everything about this series just flows. I don't know why it took me so long to start reading it. Every time I finish a book I want to jump back in with the next one. I would love to have a month to do nothing but read In Death.
This is a series that I recommend highly. There are very few series that I consistently rate at 5 stars. This is one of them.

Review:
I love the worlds and characters that Patricia Briggs has created. This was more a 3.5ish read for me.
I loved getting my Charles and Anna fix but don't feel like there was enough Charles and Anna time amidst all the action. There seemed to be a lot going on: new characters, revelations, new mysteries and unanswered questions.
This book didn't have the same feel as previous books in the series but I was left wanting more and will be waiting somewhat patiently for the next book.

Review This was a very unique look back into Eve’s past. Not that previous installments haven’t given a look into her childhood, but these memories stretched past the motel room. One of my favorite aspects of this series is watching the main characters grow and change...for better or worse. There were a lot of growing pains for Eve in this book. She started to backslide into old habits and it was sad to see. She has made so much progress, but in all fairness, she got smacked down but good by her former foster “mother. I was so proud of her though for identifying her bad behavior and going out of her way to make amends. Eve is, and always will be, a tough-as-nail cop, but she continues to become more human and I swear that is what makes her the amazing cop she is...ya, ya, I know she is a fictional character...but few series I’ve read have managed to keep such interesting stories going with the same core couple and keep them interesting and engaging. As always, I look forward to what lies ahead for Eve, Roarke, and the rest of the gang!
As for the murder, good, bad, or indifferent, I sort of knew who did it pretty early on. However, I did not see the twist coming and how it all wove together until it was being pieced together in the book. Another murderer bagged...on to the next!

Review I wanted to really like this book...I tried to make myself justify a 4-star rating...I couldn’t make it happen. I love the Lords of the Underworld and have been happily anticipating Kane’s installment. Although Kane isn’t present in much of the previous books, he does pop up here and there...and I always loved him. He had a sweet, gentle disposition despite housing the demon of disaster. One thing that threw me from the start was the horrible animosity between the demon and host. Don’t get me wrong, the other Lords don’t love their demon, but there is a symbiotic relationship that seemed to have formed for many of the others that is not at all present with Kane and disaster.
The relationship between Kane and Josephina was also difficult for me. They just didn’t click for me. Individually, I liked both characters and they had their moments, but overall I just don’t get how they are each other’s “forever.
My other issues with the story in general is that it was too disconnected. I’m fine with introducing a new storyline or so to start the build for the upcoming installments, but with the chaos that was Kane’s and Josephina’s story along with the other storylines, I felt like I had whiplash.

I'm glad that I am not the only one that swoons over these books. I resisted for years about starting the series. I couldn't image being so behind. I was challenged to try Naked in Death and I have not looked back. I would love to have time off to just read this series. I would devour one or two a day!
