Woo hoo doing great everyone!

No need to post the cover later, I know what book you are talking about and you're all good!

Judith (brownie72011) | 1874 comments Nanci, I'm done with the UNO hands for March if you want to do a once over to make sure everything is there and the points are correct. Thank you :)

I've got the very beginning done but I spent most of toddler nap time today dealing with the April hands (which reminds me, the top posts have been updated for April with the breakdown by card). My husband is working all weekend so I don't have any free time aside from when my son is napping.

message 607: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I've just got 4 hours left on my last book for the mini. Nice narration, but the writing is so beautiful, I might also read it later!

message 608: by Judith (last edited Mar 29, 2020 10:50AM) (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1874 comments Okay, I have a draft of the story that I just sent to Nanci for her to read and hopefully correct any grammatical things that might be in there. I'm sort of rubbish at proofing my own writing.

It didn't really end up being that funny, but with the titles I used the more realistic route just seemed to work better.

Once it's been edited, I'll post it here for the team to read. And it will also be in the spreadsheet of course.

message 609: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier Cool Judith. Looking forward to reading it.

Robynne Lozier Judith,
I would like to claim the 9 Green card. I found a book in my TBR - with a mostly green cover - called Pyramid by David Gibbon (similar books to dan brown and Clive Cussler) . And we all know how much I LOVE Clive Cussler!! It takes place on or near the Nile river in Egypt!! THat is where the pyramids are, right? LOL

Pyramid (Jack Howard, #8) by David Gibbins

message 611: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1874 comments Awesome! I’ll update my top post once I’m on the computer again.

That’s the last color card spot claimed. This is a great team 🙂

message 612: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I finished Dearly Beloved for the March mini, so now I'll be concentrating on my April books. :)

Judith going now to check the SS for March and also read your story!

message 613: by Chava (new)

Chava | 528 comments If it's okay, I'm not going to add to the planning sheet. I'll just read and listen to audiobooks as it happens and put them on this thread. I just can't be sure what I'll be able to get done

That's fine Chava! These are certainly strange times we are currently living in. Nanci and I can work with whatever works best for people :)

message 615: by Judith (last edited Mar 30, 2020 04:27AM) (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1874 comments Okay, the story has been proofed, fixed, and submitted. Here is the story under a spoiler tag so it doesn't take up so much space in thread. It's also on the official team spreadsheet. If a word/phrase is in all caps, it came from a book title.

(view spoiler)

Nanci I'm being completely serious when I say this. I picked up Sex Object A Memoir by Jessica Valenti on sale about 3 years ago and have been holding on to it to use for an UNO 7 Yellow card.

I may or may not have issues. hehe

Haha! Oh I know you well enough to believe that! Whenever I read a good color book (especially yellow) and it's not UNO time, I think, "Darn. This would be great for UNO."

Looks like a fun book! Let me know what you think when you're done.

Judith (brownie72011) | 1874 comments I'm glad you all liked the story!

And we are officially in the last month of UNO!

message 625: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Yay! Or maybe boo concerning our last month of UNO. This has been a good distraction for me, and I will be sorry to see it come to an end in some ways. I still have a few other challenges, but nothing that I love as much as UNO. I am very grateful for the mods continuing to plan these fun challenges for us. As our world gets smaller and smaller with sheltering in place, it's great to have the connections we have on our teams with people in other states and countries. Looking forward to our final month together!

message 626: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier The OWLS readathon is also in April - but I have chosen my career and 4 books already. 3 of these books will be re-reads and the last one I read for UNO March so I will be counting that one - it was just read a few days early!! The re-reads are easy and some of them I may be able to count towards to UNO April.

Right now I am almost half way through my first book for April UNO - it has 90 chapters in total and I am currently up to chapter 41. I cannot put this down!! So 2 days maximum to read this!!

No worries! Thank you for doing it so quickly!

message 631: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Just checked the team points. Yes, we are in 15th place, but there's only 125 points between us and the team ranked #1. Things can change in just one month. If everyone reads all their assignments, then it's just luck of the cards. We have achieved our max each month and that's something to crow about! Have fun with your books during this last month. :)

message 632: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier OK just finished WIn - the 3rd book in the Atlantis Grail series - posted to my shelf and to the tracking sheet - 8 points - so you got a lot to choose from!!!

message 633: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Patti,
Just a little reminder to add your book, Vanishing Girls to your UNO shelf when you have some time.
Thanks!

message 634: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier UM Nancy??

My WIN book - the 9 is NOT K - it should be the author name - Nazarian!!

message 635: by Robynne (last edited Apr 03, 2020 07:44PM) (new)

Robynne Lozier OK so I changed it on the Tracking SS
You will need to update the official Google SS!!
Sorry!

message 636: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier It is fascinating sitting here and watching you change things!! LOL

Thanks Nancy!!

message 637: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments It's all good. I was thinking of changing it to Skip, so I wasn't finished. I've updated the SS to using the 9 for the author's name.

message 638: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier I went back to look at the list of what we have to find.
we have lots of 5s, 7s, 8s and 9s...
So we need lots of I, V, E and N.
I will try and concentrate on those.

message 639: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier My apologies for jumping the gun - I have a tendency to do that IRL as well. My brain just goes way too fast sometimes.... and it all comes out my mouth (or fingers). Sorry about that...

message 640: by Robynne (new)

Robynne Lozier Oh and Nancy - I do have the 4th book in that series with the same Kassiopei character you can use for a later Skip - if you still need it.

message 641: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Sounds good, Robynne. We'll keep that in mind.

Amber M. McCarter (mommyultd) | 32 comments Just dropping in to apologize for totally disappearing. Falling so abruptly into homeschooling five children and working a not remote-friendly job from home, thanks to this virus, simply took over everything - reading included!

Hope you guys are all doing as well as this current climate allows.

message 645: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 296 comments Question, do books that are exactly 100 pages count for this challenge? I will be picking up the novella Tracker before I read book 8 in the series this month and I'm unsure if it will count for the challenge.

message 648: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Good to hear from you, Amber! We've missed you, but totally understand.
I taught elementary for 13 years and also was a school counselor for another 19 years. You moms who have been suddenly thrown into home schooling are my heroes! I know for our daughters, who are doing the same, some have been given lots of good support and material, while others are having to create as they go. I have so much respect for the hard work you're doing with your children!

Know that you are welcome to pop in whenever you're able to say hello! Reading or not, you're still a part of our team and we care about you.

I hope that your family stays healthy and safe!

Hey Melanie,
The rules state, "more than 100 pages". I looked it up on AR to see if I could get a word count, but couldn't find it. I'll leave this up to our expert, Judith, to answer!
