Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments LOL Regina! Actually, from what I remember, most of the story in the last couple of books revolved around the plans everyone had to make to keep the arduer under control - while still finding time to do battle against whatever baddy was in the story. I didn't mind it - I was reading Erotica pretty much exclusively at that point!

Steph (angel4492) | 32498 comments Those are both good ones, Steph. I loved Charlie. Can't wait for Second Grave on the Left and Aftermath.

Kerstin | 862 comments I finished Gil's All Fright Diner by A. Lee Martinez which was a quick read but very forgettable.
I'm currently on Wages of Sin (Cin Craven, #1) by Jenna Maclaine and White Night (The Dresden Files, #9) by Jim Butcher

Steph Ann | 1220 comments Finished Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre and Dark Protector (Paladins of Darkness, #1) by Alexis Morgan over the weekend. I liked both, but definitely would give the edge to Grimspace. Now reading The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld, #5) by Gena Showalter

message 1659: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Kerstin I absolutely loved Ghost Story!

Steph so glad you liked Grimspace!

So I finishd Feed by Mira Grant and was kinda dissapointed. I like long detailed books, but I thought it was too long and too much detail that was not necessary. I think the strongest point of the book is the characters, including the side characters. I do think the ending was innovative, brave but I still did not like nor think it was necessary! But still, brave and creative.

I am listening to Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey and trying to decide what to read next. I am on vaca and nothing seems good. Here is what I am thinking: Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole Cold Touch (Extrasensory Agents, #2) by Leslie Parrish Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1) by Jim Butcher Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson

Sandra | 25797 comments Well, Regina, I loved the 1st two & I've got the 3rd on wishlist. Haven't read the last 2.

message 1661: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments THanks Sanddra. :)

message 1662: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4023 comments Finished Shadowflame (Shadow World, #2) by Dianne Sylvan good but I still gave it a one ★de-merit. Working on Agents of Light and Darkness (Nightside, #2) by Simon R. Green

message 1663: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Regina, I've read the last two, really enjoyed them both but would say give Ultraviolet a try. Super awesome book :)

Sandra | 25797 comments Reading One More Bite (Jaz Parks, #5) by Jennifer Rardin not far in but looking good.

Sandra | 25797 comments Just finished Discord's Apple by Carrie Vaughn A very strange book. I think she crammed too much into one story.

message 1666: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I have started loads of books in the past few days and nothing is catching my interest, I am going to try this tonight: This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost

message 1667: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Good luck Regina :)

message 1668: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I'm about 50% through Hunt the Moon (Cassandra Palmer, #5) by Karen Chance and realizing that although I have nothing against Mircea, I'm a Pritkin fangirl at heart. :)

message 1669: by Mafi (new)

Mafi | 63 comments I just finished The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries, #1) by L.J. Smith and The Struggle (The Vampire Diaries, #2) by L.J. Smith by L.J. Smith and now I'm reading The Fury (The Vampire Diaries, #3) by L.J. Smith

message 1670: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am listening to the audio of Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey and wow! It took some time to get into, maybe about 20%, but it is just an amazingly beautiful story. I absolutely LOVE It. I don't want it to end.

message 1671: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4023 comments Working on The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook for my bingo challenge and enjoying it so far. I was asking the girls on my team if this is considered a zombie book, or if this is just a "zombie light" book and doesn't count, since I have not read one yet?

message 1672: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I never really considered it a zombie book, b/c the zombies aren't really the main world changer or threat in the book. But that is just my perspective.

message 1673: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4023 comments Thanks Regina, I haven't been brave enough to read one yet. I guess I will still have to try one since this one doesn't count.

message 1674: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh, I don't want to discourage you. :) I loved Aftertime (Aftertime, #1) by Sophie Littlefield as a zombie book.

message 1675: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4023 comments I did buy that one and have it on TBR pile. Do I need to read it during the day with all the lights on?

message 1676: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments LOL. It does get tense and there are some gross scenes -- but the main focus is on the personal journey (and the physical journey) of the main character. There is a heart wrenching tale being told and I was worried and anguished while it was unfolding. There is some romance and sex as well. :)

message 1677: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Iron Duke is a great book though, I would classify it more as steampunk and romance. I thought it was a great story.

message 1678: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4023 comments It reminds me of The Greyfriar and I liked that one too.

message 1679: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I want to read that one, but keep pushing it off. I own it, I need to get to it.

message 1680: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 18 comments Finished Killing Time by Elisa Paige and finally managed to get into Darkling (Sisters of the Moon, #3) by Yasmine Galenorn - 75% through now and actually enjoying it. I'm so glad as I very nearly gave up on it....

Next up is Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance and Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance

message 1681: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Love the Dorina books, Bookgirlie, hope you do too.

I'm also reading The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook about half-way through and enjoying it. I'd have to say it's Zombie light so far, more just the threat, as long as you don't go to France and the Continent. LOL

message 1682: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32498 comments I just started it. Haven't gotten very far into it yet. Mina's just gone off with Newberry.

message 1685: by Daffodil (last edited Aug 17, 2011 02:27PM) (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Finished Spell Bound (Women of the Otherworld, #12) by Kelley Armstrong Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris & Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver last night. (All were in various stages of completion and I figured it was time to finish them out)

Spell Bound was wonderful, Dead Reckoning less so and Before I Fall was a surprise hit. I didn't like the character in the beginning, but couldn't resist the book itself. And of course, seeing a change in Samantha was part of the point. What's amazing is that the author managed to make me view Samantha's earlier behavior in a kinder light. Still didn't approve, but could at least understand some of it.

+++++++++++++++
Currently reading: The Fallen (Nine Lives of Chloe King #1) by Celia Thomson . I looked this up because I've been watching the TV show. Not sure yet what I think. They changed quite a bit to make the show and that's what I watched first. I kind of like the relationship Chloe has with TV mom and that's completely different in the book.

message 1686: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Never heard of that last one Daffodil. We obviously don't get the TV show here. Interested to hear what you think about it.

Steph (angel4492) | 32498 comments I can't wait for Rune's story either, Lis. And ah, Hell! Lauren's post reminded me I have to read and write up reviews for 3 NetGalley books before 26 Aug. LOL!

I used to read only one book at a time but now that I'm back listening to audiobooks and have an iPad where I can read ebooks, it seems I'm always reading one of each!

message 1699: by Lis (last edited Aug 22, 2011 05:56PM) (new)

Lis | 4023 comments Finished Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley and a little disappointed. Expected a little more since I liked her Stormwalker series. Oh well, I have the next book in the series on my TBR pile too.

Going back to try Burn the Night (Dark Days, #6) by Jocelynn Drake again.
