Tracy | 237 comments I am reading Passion and have been getting a lot of mixed reviews on it. Has anyone read this series?

message 1502: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I finished Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris and I'm ready for this series to be over. Dermot was sweet though. I wish we could've seen more of him and the other fae.

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Welcome to the group, Bookgirlie!

I had a good book weekend! :D
I finished Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane - loved it!
And Serengeti Lightning (Serengeti Shifters, #3) by Vivi Andrews which was good, but too short.
Also, Break Out (Blood Hunter, #1) by Nina Croft which was super fun! Anyone who is a fan of sci-fi romance with similarities to Firefly (Ames) and Star Trek (Sandra & others) should really enjoy it. I can't wait for #2 in Oct!

I'm trying to decide what to read next.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Thanks so much Steph for bringing Break Out (Blood Hunter, #1) by Nina Croft to my attention. It is now on my WL. I LOVE Firefly and Star Trek both!!!! Just wish I had known about it before I hit Amazon to order the next 2 Scott Pilgrim books for my grandson.....I padded the order with a couple of good ones - but this one would have been my top pick for myself.

Oh well - next time!

message 1507: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Yay! Hope you like it! :)

message 1508: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments It had been awhile, so decided to tackle Mt. TBR with Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . I'm normally all about the UF, but have to admit, this was pretty fun :)

message 1509: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments That was a fun read. I still haven't read any add'l bks in that series, but I'm sure I'll get around to them eventually. Glad you enjoyed it and knocked one off your Mt. TBR.

Checked out Nina Croft, she looks good and yay I can get Break Out in PDF my preferred way to read and for .99c. Yay!

Josie | 1967 comments Break Out (Blood Hunter, #1) by Nina Croft seems very intriguing so I had to go get it lol (just FYI, Amazon has it for 89p)

Glad you liked Double Cross Steph, hopefully I will start that series soon :)

Congrats Vivian! I try to slot in a book from that series every so often. One day, I will have finished them all!

I'm reading The Dead Girls' Dance (The Morganville Vampires, #2) by Rachel Caine (so I can get on with the monthly challenges), What A Dragon Should Know (Dragon Kin, #3) by G.A. Aiken (because I'm a bit behind on the Hot Days of Summer challenge) and For a Few Demons More (The Hollows, #5) by Kim Harrison (which I keep stopping, this series has kind of gone down hill for me but there's been some real positive reviews of Pale Demon so hopefully I will love the books again like I did in the first one or two)

message 1512: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Just finished The Nasty Vamp by Gail Koger , very quirky book. I really liked it. 4 stars.

message 1513: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) halfway through Micah (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #13) by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 1514: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Josie wrote: "Break Out (Blood Hunter, #1) by Nina Croft seems very intriguing so I had to go get it lol (just FYI, Amazon has it for 89p)"

86p now, and sold! LOL!

I read Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison over the weekend and LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! I haven't had a 5-star read (not including Laurenston books) in so long. :D

message 1515: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 1586 comments Amy, I want to read Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison so very much! But I have Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate lined up as a "buddy read". **sigh** I hope this doesn't cause me to hate Fallen!

message 1516: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) finished Micah (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #13) by Laurell K. Hamilton it was ok I like Micah a little more, but with the ending of it I am not liking Nathaniel much anymore.

Now I am reading Visions of Heat (Psy-Changeling, #2) by Nalini Singh

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I think Micah was my least favorite book of the series. I did like him better as a character, but the book just didn't do it for me!

message 1518: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) I liked it that the sex wasn't the main focus, and there was an old anita moment at the cemetary. (view spoiler) i'm like ARE YOU FRICKING KIDDING ME!!!

message 1519: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Hope ya'll enjoy Break Out! I am 1/2 way through Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 1) by Susan Ee and really enjoying it.

I've seen that one, Sandra. Almost bought it the other day. Now, I definitely will :)

message 1520: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments I really like Gail's ideas. The Nasty Vamp by Gail Koger

Some of the execution leaves a little to be desired. I think she needs a better editor but overall she gets either a 4 or 5 stars from me, everytime. This is her 3rd book, writing on her own.

message 1521: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Cool. I'll look into her others and grab that one. Spotted it while browsing online the other day, but didn't buy it. Now that I see you liked it, I'm definitely planning on it.

Lol! Glad you loved 'Dragon Bound', it was a 5 star read for me as well. I can't wait for more! We won't have to wait too long either since the next two are out this year and the fourth early next year :D

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Man, I really gotta get to that one (Dragon Bound).

It was 5 star for me as well, and I've read it twice.

BD is saying 14 days till Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison

message 1526: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Wow - didn't realize #2 was coming out that soon. I'll really have to read #1 soon then :) Always nice when you don't have to wait long for the next book.

message 1527: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Just read Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne and it was great. Super funny, just a tad cheesy, but with possibly my new favorite sidekick :)

message 1528: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I have hit a reading funk so I am listening to Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse, #5) by Charlaine Harris on my commute and I am hoping something at home will hold my interest.

message 1529: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments If not, take a break until Sunday's shelf announcement, and hopefully be refreshed and ready to go!

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Either that, or go back and pick up a book from a genre you haven't read in a while. That's what worked for me! Of course, it resulted in my finding my way back to GR and into this group.....some might say that was a good thing. My family isn't so sure!

Gotta make it an early night tonight. Found out about 4 hours ago that the stamp audit has been changed to tomorrow AM. That means I have to be at work no later than 5 AM......and awake enough to count all those blasted stamps!

message 1531: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Vivian, I really want to read that one. Glad you're enjoying it.

I'm reading Lord of the Vampires (Royal House of Shadows, #1) by Gena Showalter which I got from NetGalley. It's just okay so far. I'm not feelin' the characters, which is outta the norm for me and Gena's past writing. Hoping it'll pick up.

message 1532: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 1586 comments My "buddy read" has changed! Yipee! I am now reading Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison and it is good!!!

message 1533: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Yay for Lisa Kay! Enjoy!

message 1534: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments I was in a bit of a reading slump as well. I started The Third Angel by Alice Hoffman , City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane and Kiss of a Demon King (Immortals After Dark, #7) by Kresley Cole . The latter two are actually very good, but I just couldn't seem to read more than a couple of chapters before my mind wandered off.
Yesterday I bought The Moth Diaries by Rachel Klein and started reading it on the bus home and couldn't put it down. It was a great story and I'm hoping to be back in the land of the reading obsessed :)

message 1535: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) | 530 comments I have heard so many good things about Dragon Bound that I can't wait to read it!
I'm currently on a Warriors of Poseidon roll and am starting Atlantis Betrayed (Warriors of Poseidon, #6) by Alyssa Day .

message 1536: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Jul 20, 2011 01:19AM) (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments I finished My Fair Succubi (Succubus Diaries, #3) by Jill Myles and whilst I like Jill Myles writing style I am just OVER THE LOVE TRIANGLE!!!!!!

This is the 3rd book of the triangle and if there are any others in this series I won't be reading them!

On a lighter note, I did like the teaser in the back of the book Midnight Liasons, a new series by Jill. Doesn't look to be a triangle *fingers crossed*

ETA: Jill looks to be writing under another name for this book Beauty Dates the Beast (Midnight Liasons, #1) by Jessica Sims and she's called the series Midnight Liasons.

message 1537: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Read Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs . I love Patricia Briggs, her books rock my socks! Must do some Mercy re-reads soon...

message 1538: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Vivian, I just love A&O books, I've re-read them a few times now.

message 1539: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I was hesitant to read them, hearing they were higher romance content than the Mercy books, but I really really enjoyed them. Of course, I just read Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon and liked that too, so maybe I'm coming around to the romance stuff.

message 1540: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Maybe ;)

I've always loved a bit of romance :)

Steph wrote: "Man, I really gotta get to that one (Dragon Bound)."

Steph, you haven't read it?? Woman, get thee to a ... purchasing option... of your choice and read it now! It's super fun. The first PNR that's made me laugh in a long time.

Reading A Lady's Lesson in Scandal by Meredith Duran . I am completely head over heels in love with Meredith Duran but alas have now read my way through her entire back catalogue and have nowhere left to go after this one.

message 1542: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) man I need to go out and get Dragon Boundyall keep talking about it so much I'm practically salivating over here for it

message 1543: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Finished How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper over the weekend and loved it. It was supposed to be a buddy read, with a schedule and everything. I couldn't stop, I had to go ahead and finish reading.

Finished Touch of Darkness (Darkness Chosen, #2) by Christina Dodd yesterday. I really liked it, with one major reservation. I'm going to try and finish the quartet soon.

Currently reading Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman . Very disturbing look at the future.

message 1544: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments @Moss I have read Meredith Duran's 4 other books and can't wait to get my hands on her newest one.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Daffodil wrote: "Finished How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper over the weekend and loved it. It was supposed to be a buddy read, with a schedule and everything. I couldn't stop, I had to go ahe..."

I've read the 4 Darkness Chosen books. It's been awhile, but I did like them. I have the next quartet, The Chosen Ones, but I haven't started them yet.

Storm of Visions (The Chosen Ones, #1) by Christina Dodd Storm of Shadows (The Chosen Ones #2) by Christina Dodd Chains of Ice (The Chosen Ones, #3) by Christina Dodd Chains of Fire (The Chosen Ones, #4) by Christina Dodd

Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman really IS a disturbing look at the future. Not really the kind of book you can say "I liked it." But I'm glad I read it.

message 1546: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments LOL Moss :D I have it, just need to get t'readin'. :)

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I finished Visions of Magic (Awakening, #1) by Regan Hastings today. REALLY liked it. Now I've started Truthseeker (Worldwalker Duology #1) by C.E. Murphy .

message 1548: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32502 comments Really interested to hear what you think of that one when you're done, Cindy. I have it TBR.

message 1549: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25797 comments Don't forget you can comment on Visions on the BOM thread which is probably in archive but we'd be happy to hear what you liked about it. The next one is out soon. Visions of Skyfire (Awakening, #2) by Regan Hastings

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Sandra - I did post a review of Visions. Didn't realize it had been a BOM! I'm always behind on my reading.....

Truthseeker is pretty good so far. The action is just getting started! If I wasn't so tired I'd probably be up until the wee hours reading....
