Catherine lives with a boarder and two dogs that think they own the house. She has sold international satellite capacity, worked in IT recruitment, and run her own communications store.

When Catherine isn't writing, she's dog-wrangling, wrestling with technology, or going crazy trying to maintain control of the yard.

THE CANDIDATE'S DAUGHTER is her first published work, followed by the sequel in the Elizabeth McClaine series, CHILD OF THE STATE, and A STOLEN WOMAN.

Her latest book, THE WATER'S DEAD: A DI NYREE BRADSHAW NOVEL, is the first in a planned series set in the beautiful New Zealand Far North.

She also writes gritty thrillers under the pen name C.J. Lea.

Writer's block occurs when a writer doesn't know where the story is going. Once upon a time, I used to wing it - write whatever happens next. These days I plan the plot out in advance. It doesn't always go according to the road map, but If you plan ahead, you avoid running off the road.(less)

Sticky Moments

A lesson on bio-diversity in the home: The day before yesterday, I was out in my greenhouse checking my tomatoes, when I spotted two stick insects making beautiful love on the wall of the house. Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE all creatures great and small. Okay, mosquitoes, flies, fleas, and ants don't actually make it onto that list of loves, but I'm so bio-diverse that I'm happy to Read more of this blog post »

I found this book in my local Paper Plus and bought it because I loved the cover. That was no mistake. I've loved Agatha Christie for years (well, who doesn't?) and this proved to be an excellent addition to any Christie reader's shelf.

What a fabulous book by a Kiwi writer. An historical tale full of dreadful and heartbreaking characters set against the harsh living conditions in early New Zealand. I highly recommend.
