3000 pounds of soiled adult diapers...I swear to god

yep, Rachel I think it was maybe in the 80's?

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Why the hell would anyone want a soiled diaper? I sort of remember that story, Paul.

I remember the story of the man who gassed himself to death in his little, insulated room with his own flatulence. And the Asian video gamer who died from playing video games nonstop.

I think it just got to a point where the woman couldn't use her toilet anymore and lots of stuff in her house was just trash

Anna (stregamari) | 251 comments and over 7,000 books. :) at least we're not collecting cats! My sister is a home health nurse with a children's hospital, and her descriptions of some of the houses make "bighead" by lee seem absolutely appetizing. eww

Lori (barfield) | 1684 comments A couple of weeks ago on Hoarders this woman had 20 cats, I think 10 dogs and 4 kids taken away from her. It was nasty, poop everywhere. And she still didn't get it.

At least they were living animals. I hate the ones where the find dead cats.

message 162: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I know. When I read stories about bunches of animals taken from filthy homes, I'm thinking, "At least they're not being abused and are being fed." I know it's not the best situation for the animals, but I think the owner is mentally ill and/or too kindhearted to turn away an animal. Beats torturing them and tossing them aside like some people have fun doing.

message 163: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments In New York (may be true in other cities but i only heard it stated about NY on one of those Animal Planet cop shows) they won't prosecute a hoarder for animal cruelty. They work to get the person help.

message 164: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments That's a good policy to have. I can't watch those animal cop shows. Too depressing.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments LOL. Who the hell ever knows how to spell that last name.

Did anyone here watch The Sopranos? I love that they made him into an animal lover. He could torture and kill off his friends and enemies, but mess with his ducks and Pie-O-My and he turned into a blubbering mess.

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Thanks, Rachel...I couldn't remember her name. :) Yeah, Tressa....fogeddaboutit...badda-boom-badda-bing! ;)

message 173: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Not to get OT (like any of us care, we do it all the time lol) but that's one of the great aspects of The Sopranos and the character of Tony...for such a murderous, philandering, messed-up guy, he loves his family, his friends, but has a soft spot when it comes to certain things.

message 174: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Get off topic about animal abuse that is off topic from Introduce Yourself?

A show like The Sopranos would make me order HBO again. That's the ONLY reason we had HBO for years. The moment it went off, we cancelled HBO. That is one damn fine show.

I enjoyed what happened to Ralphie after messing with Pie-O-My. Tony loved that horse.

message 175: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Yeah...I never had the pleasure of seeing The Sopranos on HBO....over the years I caught the show in syndication on A&E....still, I enjoyed it. My fav episode is where Christopher and Paulie get stranded in the snowy Barrens...great stuff.

message 176: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments That's our favorite episode, too. The early ones with Tony's mother and Pussy are the best. I also love when the two young idiots tried to rob the Bada Bing (or one of the poker games?) to prove themselves and one of them ended up in a remote cabin with Tony. I think the kid's name is Bevolaqua(sp?).

message 177: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) | 1684 comments I think one of the saddest episodes for me was when Silvio took Adriana out to the woods and put two bullets in her as she tried to get away. I was so upset I almost stopped watching.

I still have HBO but sometimes I wonder why. They cancelled Carnivale, Deadwood, & Rome, all great shows. And they keep Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Big Love which IMHO all of them SUCK big time. I like True Blood but i'd give it up quick, fast, and in a hurry to have Carnivale, Deadwood, or Rome back.

message 178: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I couldn't believe Adriana told Chris she had ratted out the family. And Chris was thinking about running away with her until he was at that gas station and saw that poor family. He knew he couldn't make a living on his own. And I hate how we were fooled for a few seconds thinking Adriana was driving away from it all. Then we saw Silvio driving her into the woods.

I hated the parts where Tony talked to his psychiatrist. I always got up to pee during those times.

Paulie Walnuts was our favorite character. He was hilarious when putting his mother into that ritzy old age home.

Russell Kaine | 1 comments Glad to be part of the group! This looks like a well-read, fun buch of people! First, some of my horror faves include Brian Lumley, Clive Barker, Peter Straub and, of course, "The King." I loved King's 2006 novel, "Cell."

Now, for a bit of shameless self-promotion ... (hope I'm not breaking the rules!)

My name is Russell Kaine. I'm an author from Arizona trying to get the word out about my new juicy, fast-paced supernatural horror/suspense novel, "Bumble Bee." It is awaiting print, but is currently available as an e-book cheap! A creepy sample chapter can be viewed at

Back Cover Synopsis ...

"For struggling emcee/DJ Dave Goodman, a detour to the failed ghost town-turned-tourist-trap of Bumble Bee, Arizona, was only supposed to be a quick stop. But this town has more than just history. It has a deadly secret ... a bloodthirsty evil that will challenge the very soul and the human instinct to survive.

Crafted with unique characters, haunting imagery and accurate historical-geographical data, this terrifying supernatural story moves quick and will hold you tight in its grip until the very end!"

Constructive criticism and/or any suggestions about agents/pubs welcome!

Thank you all for your support!

Yeah, great characters and writing in that show, but I'd been a David Chase fan since his days doing Northern Exposure. The ep where Adriana gets killed was very rough. I always thought she was hot. ;)

message 183: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Yeah, I used the P word, but only because it was his name. I cringed every time the kids talked about "Uncle Pussy."

I loved the Adriana character but her looks were too hard, IMO. Her face looked like leather and those eyebrows, sheesh.

I forgot or maybe never knew that David Chase did Northern Exposure. I watched that show religiously. It was the best thing on TV back then. Well, it and Thirtysomething.

message 184: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments Generally speaking, I don't think the "Jersey girl" look is all that sexy. But there's something about her that I found attractive. I think it was the way she cared for Christopher despite his behavior...well, she did cave in the end but I think that was more because she got cornered by the Feds and really wanted a "normal" life...well, she did have a nice body! :P

message 185: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments And yeah, I loved Northern Exposure. Some of the best, most unique TV ever...

message 186: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Yeah, Adriana did have a smoking body, as you men say. I thought she was sweet and really liked her. She was in some ways the heart of The Sopranos. I think the ONLY heart of the show, lol.

Speaking of hot girls, I thought Maggie O'Connell from Norther Exposure was a beauty. Not sure if she had a smoking body under that parka, though. I need to buy that series. I miss it. It was truly great television. I loved Adam and Eve.

message 187: by Chris (new)

Chris (flahorrorwriter) | 2844 comments YES! About NE...and yeah, I thought Janine Turner's Maggie was pretty hot. Kinda weird to think (in the end) she and Chris ended up together. Such a fantastically written and put-together show. I miss it.

Speaking about TV shows...I so stoked about upcoming season of 24 and Lost.

message 188: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Now Chris was smoking hot!

I only watch nature and history shows and Survivor and American Idol. So I've never seen Lost or 24 or The Office or any other current series. I stopped watching sitcoms when Friends went off the air. Can't stand dramas.

message 189: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1434 comments Can't wait for Lost, i've kinda stopped watching TV right now.

message 190: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) | 1684 comments I could never get into 24 all that jumping around with the cameras. Gave me a headache. And Lost was up against, damn i can't remember, but i know it's one of the shows i already watched. I'm looking forward to Chuck.

Didn't NE have Patrick Dempsey? IMHO that man is over rated

message 191: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments No, Dempsey wasn't in Northern Exposure. Rob Morrow and John Corbett were in it.

message 192: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) | 1684 comments OH yeah, Corbett was Carrie Bradshaw's boytoy for a while, and in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Can't place Rob Morrow.

I found out about that when I worked cleaning up the UPS warehouse. While the men's restrooms would be dirty, they were absolutely angelic compared to the women's. I got so sickened that I wouldn't clean them anymore. The women in our crew had to. Fair or not, at the time I thought it fitting. Now I feel sorry for the women on our crew.

message 199: by Arkadia (new)

Arkadia (_arkadia) Hi guys :) My name is Chantal, I recently survived the end of my teenage years and I've been a horror fanatic since the day I was born. I learned to read at the age of four, read R.L. Stine until six and a half, and then upgraded to Stephen King at seven and didn't look back. My mother loves horror movies, and so I was introduced to a multitude of them from the earliest age, and remember specifically that Child's Play was my favourite movie at around for - I would watch it on repeat, and even had my own Chucky doll. My slightly younger brother had seen this movie and was terrified of it, so I think perhaps it will speak for my personality if I mention that I threw my Chucky doll in the bath with him when my mother wasn't looking. He's never really forgiven me.

Besides all that, I've always been an avid writer (horror, of course), I have a close bond with animals, I model part-time, and I draw quite a bit.

Glad to see I might have found myself a little home here :)

message 200: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Welcome, Chantal. Congrats on reaching age 20. Child's Play is a classic, but that doll...sheesh. It was almost as scary as My Buddy.

There's a group read coming up February 1. We're reading Shaun Jeffrey's The Kult. Join in if you want.
