Spreadsheets

- Once all columns of a goal have been filled out a new goal will appear within 5 minutes.

- Do not change existing pages. You may add a new page to your spreadsheet if you want to track additional information.

- Mark books as used in your books list once they are used for a goal.

- Only books read during the current round may be applied towards goals, once the round has ended those books may no longer be used for a goal.

- Once you merge teams, you may use your books for your partner teams goals. List them in your books list and on their goals sheet. Mark them as used.

- If you end up with more than 3 open goals, contact a moderator for help.

Open Goals:

Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a boat or other ocean vessel
Read a book that is ranked 751-1000 in bestsellers on book depository ()
Read a book that has been turned into a movie or TV show and the filming is done in Australia or New Zealand.

Read a book first published on the 24th of a month
Read a book with a yellow cover
Read a book that starts with the letter Q

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Hi everyone! :)

Current Team Commodus goals are:

Read a book with the word darning in the text - Tonya is working on one for this
Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter X
Read a book where a character is a fae - I'm nearly finished with one for this

Our team is pretty laid back - we read what we can and aim for goals, but if someone else finishes a book for the same goal first that's no issue since we're trying to get new goals as quickly as possible. :)

message 8: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Hey everyone!! I can read Zoo by James Patterson to cover Team Gabrielle's third goal. It is ranked 256 on the bestseller list. Let me know if that's cool. I usually read Patterson's books very fast.

message 9: by Silje (last edited Aug 15, 2015 07:37PM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments Hello to all new people, nice to have more team mates=)

Current Team Gabrielle goals are:
Read a book whose author died 5+ years ago
Read a book that contains the word peas - Kate had a book that fit this one
Read a book that is ranked 201-300 in bestsellers on book depository ()

Brittney, if you want to read that book, you just go ahead. I have a book, The Assassin's Blade, nr 249 on the list, but will not be able to start until Monday, so you reading Zoo instead sounds great!

I have the book Fools Rush In: An April Fools Day Anthology, apparently there is supposed to be a character starting with X in this one. I can read it for Commodus' goal if no one else have something.

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments I finished The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa which takes care of the Fae character! Our next goal is: Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter A.

I'm reading Jackaby (Jackaby, #1) by William Ritter now and one of the MCs is named Abigail so I can cover that, or if someone else finishes another book first that's fine! I'm only a few pages in so someone may be close to finished with something that will work. :)

Silje, Michelle on Commodus found a book with an X character that she said she could read (after the current book she's on though) so it's up to you guys! I'm just glad other people are able to cover this one. Between the books I'm currently reading and my next few coming up I think I have every letter BUT X. ;)

message 12: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1573 comments I'm 47% in on one where on mc is named Andrew. I should have it done tomorrow.

message 13: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Awesome, Teresa! We can use yours then, you'll probably finish before I can since I keep switching between other books. ;)

message 14: by Anita Reads (last edited Aug 16, 2015 12:39AM) (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Hi everyone.

Happy to see new team mates.
We're doing the same. First one to finish a goal matches it, to get as many new goals as possible. So I think as a team we'll work out alright. :)

Btw. Are we continuing with the same spreadsheet, and what about previous earned defense/attack points. Will they be removed to start over?

message 15: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 456 comments Hi everyone, just finished Loving Her by C.M. Hutton. I don't think it matches any current open goals. But it does give us 0.5 attack points :)

message 16: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I finished Be with Me (Wait for You, #2) by J. Lynn by J. Lynn It doesn't fit any current goals.

message 17: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (blyss20) | 19 comments I've just started reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley . It would meet the author died 5+ years ago. I'll do my best to read fast! I'm not the speediest around.

message 18: by Emily (new)

Emily Just checking in to the new team!

I do have a book that fits the word "peas". I should be able to start it today. :)

message 19: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Woohoo!

I finished another book last night/this morning but I don't know if it had peas in it. I'll double check but I'm nearly positive it didn't.

Anita, our attack and defense points from the first round were added together to start this round. We're still using the original spreadsheets to fill in the books and goals and then the master spreadsheet adds everything in!

message 20: by Denise (last edited Aug 16, 2015 11:35AM) (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Oh hey, my book DOES have peas in it, if you want to use it! I don't have access to update since it's not on our spreadsheet (Silje, do you want to have the mods give us access to each other's spreadsheets so we can update the goals when they're done? Up to you!)

Inner Harbor
Read: 8/16/15
Pg 14: "He thought of family as he drove fast down a road flanked by fields of soybeans, of peas, of corn grown taller than a man."

message 21: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannonbaggins) | 83 comments Hey new team!

I'm going to start a new book as soon as I can and hopefully it will meet a goal. Unfortunately, it won't be tonight though since I had a busy day cycling 60 miles around London and I'm shattered! I'll get one started tomorrow though :)

message 22: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1573 comments I finished Grime Doesn’t Pay which has MC Andrew for "Read a book where a character's first name starts with the letter A" goal!

message 23: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments BTW Team Commodus people, I didn't delete all of our books, I just hid the rows from Round 1 because it's easier to update that way. ;)

Yay, Teresa! Next up is: Read a book with an average goodreads rating of less than 3.01.

I wonder if a book that doesn't have any ratings would count for this (since it will come up as 0.00 rating)...

message 24: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments Hmm, tricky one. It will be less than 3, but technically it won't have any ratings, so would it count?

Do you have one that would fit?

message 25: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments For 0.00 yeah, it's a book a friend published a month or so ago. It's on GR and everything, just no ratings yet.

I'll ask in the mod group, because out of nearly 400 books on my TBR the lowest rating is still 3.32 or something. :P

message 26: by Teresa (last edited Aug 16, 2015 11:25AM) (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1573 comments I have one that has a 2.73 rating. I wasn't planning on reading it right away, but I can squeeze it in

message 27: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments I don't think I have anything either with that kind of rating. And can I just say I hate challenges that make us read crappy books, there are enough good ones out there to last several lifetimes, so why waste time on the bad ones?

message 28: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Awesome, Teresa! I'm still going to check on the 0.00 book. If it works we can go with whoever squeezes in their book first, unless someone else has one!

Annika, LOL. I just said nearly the same thing to you and Eldarwen in our other thread. We really are pretty much the same person. ;)

message 29: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments lol, like I said earlier - like minds ;)

message 30: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments 0.00 rated book is acceptable for the goal as well. :D

Teresa, it's up to you if you want to take it (I know you're working on other challenges), or I can. I doubt I'd get to mine today but I could start tomorrow and it's only about 260 pages so it won't take me too long. :)

message 31: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I definitely agree with you Annika about reading crappy books. Unless it's for a challenge where it's ridiculously hard to find a fitting book, and the book is bad I usually let it go and move on to the next book.

message 32: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1573 comments Denise, I already started it and should be done tomorrow. Then I need to focus on my other books without distractions! They'll still count for attack points here even if they don't fulfill goals. :)

message 33: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Anita, I'm the same way! I used to have a problem with DNF a book or even series once I started, but even though I read very quickly there are just way too many good books out there for me to waste time on the bad ones. I'll only force myself through if I have to for a challenge and don't have any other options. :)

Teresa, okay, sounds good! I'll hold on to mine then in case the goal pops up again later on for one of our teams. ;)

I think having access to eachother's spreadsheets would be great, that way we can update things faster=) And how did you hide the old books in the spreadsheet? I'm not really an expert when it comes to Excel:P

message 35: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments I finished Matched to a Billionaire and Her Return to King's Bed...had a lot of travelling to do today:P
They do not fit any goal at the moment.

message 36: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments I added Denise's book to our goal with the peas, our new goal is Read a book with the phrase "Whole nine yards" in a book

message 37: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Silje wrote: "Denise wrote: "Oh hey, my book DOES have peas in it, if you want to use it! I don't have access to update since it's not on our spreadsheet (Silje, do you want to have the mods give us access to ea..."

On the left where the row numbers are, just click in the box with the 2 (hold it down) and drag down to the last row that you want to hide. The cursor should look like the regular arrow then change into a hand shape when you click (I'm saying that because if you're hovering on the side of the box and it looks like a hand to begin with all you'll end up doing is moving the row around, as I found out earlier, lol!) Then right click and "Hide rows 2-whatever" should be right in the middle of the menu that pops up. :)

And I agree about the spreadsheet access, especially with people in various time zones! This way we can get the new goals as quickly as possible. I will shoot the mods a PM (they should already have our emails from before but if we need to send that info again I will let you know!)

I'll have to check and see if any of my current or upcoming reads have that phrase in them. I wouldn't think so based on the type of books I'm reading, but then again I didn't think Inner Harbor would have peas, either. ;)

message 38: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments Great, thanks Denise!
I found a few books with the phrase ( ), but none on my list. I can do one of them as audio, but then I won't know when I'll be done, since I don't listen to books that much.

message 39: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments You're welcome! :)

Also, that list is great. If no one else has one and I don't find it in one of my current books I can read one of the Jack Reacher books. There are a ton of those on that list! Lol and I just checked the one I'm up to and it's in there twice. :)

I'm home for a mini vacation for the next few days and trying to finish up most of my current reads (especially the long ones, what was I thinking starting 5 or so 800+ page books at the same time?!?) so I could probably start the Jack Reacher sometime tomorrow.

message 40: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments Wow, that's an impressive amount of pages, Denise:-P I usually have my afternoons free to do some reading. I got hold of a bunch of romance novels earlier this summer, so I'm trying to finish off those. They are easy reads, but don't fit many goals:-(

message 41: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Yeah, I kind of wish we could get more attack points for really long books. I mean, 1 point for over 500 pages is great, but it'd be even better if I could get 2 for over 1000 pages (which is I think 3 books I'm reading now, lol!) ;)

Basically I joined a challenge where I had to pick 30 books I pledged to read sometime between June and August, then I neglected all of the long books and now I only have a couple weeks left! Hahaha. So I started all of them this past week in hopes that I could still finish them all, even if I only read a bit each day and have other books in there as well. :)

I love reading romance books in the summer! They're such nice, light reads. At least you get through them quickly and can get the attack points! I've also noticed a lot of teams get goals for books that are a certain number of pages or chapters, etc, so maybe we'll have some like that pop up and can fit some of your books in for them. :)

message 42: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Finished Zoo by James Patterson 402 Pgs. for the goal of the bestseller list. It is ranked 256 on that list.

Zoo by James Patterson

message 43: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Awesome! :D

We don't have access to edit the Gabrielle spreadsheet yet, but we'll see what comes up when Silje or Anita have a chance to update. Hopefully we get an easy goal next! :)

message 44: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Sounds good!!

message 45: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Awesome Denise, I also have to read the next Department Q book, which was on there. I've had it for a while, but haven't gotten around to read it yet, but if you've got it covered I'll wait a little longer by reading it.

message 46: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1380 comments new goal Read a book that starts with the letter J

message 47: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Anita, no problem, I can start that one tomorrow!

I'm also about halfway through Jackaby if we need to use that for the J goal. :)

message 48: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments Nice :)
That is usually one of the tougher letters to cover! :)

message 49: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments And does this mean we have a plan for all the goals? Or are any of them not covered?

message 50: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments I'm glad I didn't get around to Jackaby last week lol! I meant to since it's under 300 pages but ran out of time. So we can put it to use!

We've got someone working on all of them I think! Unless you're currently reading something that has whole nine yards since I haven't quite started mine yet. :)
