Delta (sicname) Finished Redwall, 352 pages.

message 602: by Denise (last edited Aug 27, 2015 09:05AM) (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments So has anyone actually asked the mods about the green book? Lol. I'm on the phone and can't link so I won't be able to for a few hours. But if no one else can I'll post and ask tonight.

No reply yet on zombie book either.

message 603: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments I thought you had asked them about it when you said to keep looking for the answer. Oh, well.

message 604: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Nah, lol. I asked about the zombie book but said someone should ask about the green in the main thread because I had to get to bed and I post in a different group normally. Just figured we'd hear back before I was even able to be online and might be able to complete a goal sooner. :)

I guess I'll ask in a few hours when I get back home!

message 605: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Which book are we needed to ask about? I can post it in the thread just give me the book title.

message 606: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Thanks, Brittney! :D

It's Catch My Breath I believe. Green and black book. I know it's one of Annika's. I'm honestly not sure if it'll work but it's the closest thing we have. ;)

message 607: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Ok I'll let you know what the say.

message 608: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments That's the one, the question is if it is green enough to count.

message 609: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3503 comments Is someone taking the zombie book? If not, I can do it. I have a whole kindle full of zombies.

message 610: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments I posted in the thread just waiting for a response.

message 611: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Michelle, waiting to hear if one of our finished books counts. It has what are basically zombies but they aren't CALLED that lol. Hopefully we'll hear soon, I asked about it last night.

message 612: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 3503 comments Denise wrote: "Michelle, waiting to hear if one of our finished books counts. It has what are basically zombies but they aren't CALLED that lol. Hopefully we'll hear soon, I asked about it last night."

Ok..If it doesn't count give me a holler.

message 613: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments Finished Dead Heat by Allison Brennan, 405 pages, published June 3rd 2014. Set in Texas (partly Mexico), # 8 in series, 38 chapters
Orange cover with a woman, black + yellow text
Characters: FBI, hired assassin, investigator, gets on a plane
Phrases: Gut feeling, head start

message 614: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments They haven't said anything about the Green cover yet.

message 615: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments I'm guessing the vote is still out on the zombie one too... :(

message 616: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Karen replied to a different question in the question thread maybe 10 minutes ago, but still nothing on the zombie. :(

I think in some cases the mod who made the goal is the one who answers, because the others aren't 100% sure of that person's original intent? *shrug*

I hope we get a reply soon, we're running out of time in the round to start and finish NEW books for goals, if we even can at this point.

message 617: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments I finished One Foot in the Grave

Would a ghoul count for a zombie? In Night Huntress they aren't really called zombies, but they live off human flesh. If they work, this book can work for the zombie goal. If not, well then it will work for Ghoul should that kind of goal pop up.

message 618: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Anita, I'll add that to my question in the captain group. Hopefully one or the other will work. I'm thinking ghoul may not because in many series it's a separate thing from a zombie, but you never know!

Most of the goalless Commodus are added to the spreadsheet. Once I'm finished with those I'll work on the Gabrielle books a bit later. Any blank spots I probably just don't know the info, or there isn't a predominant cover color. Pub dates that are in italics are probably wrong (most of the January 1st dates are NOT correct) and bold dates are ones where the book only had a year listed so I used the date for the edition read. Just so you all know what you're looking at and what I'm doing. :P

I'm not going to worry about looking up dates for the incorrect dates or filling in blanks or anything, unless a goal pops up and we don't have another option. There's no point in spending the time now, since once the new round starts we can't use these books for goals anyway! ;)

message 619: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shannonbaggins) | 83 comments I'm a bit behind, but welcome Wren!

Sorry I haven't been able to contribute much in this round. I've been so busy getting all my stuff ready for uni and working. Plus I was ill for a few days. Hopefully I should have another book finished by the end of the round and I will try to get more read during the next two rounds.

Everyone is doing great though! I loved coming to the thread and seeing how far we have come :)

message 620: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Oh hey guys, this extra tab on the spreadsheet IS useful! I was adding on Margaret's Part Time Cowboy and it's 400 pages, so that covers one goal! :D

message 621: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Also, got a reply from the mods on zombie:

I think zombies should eat brains and be undead people. I'm ok with them being called differently if they clearly fit the mold of the traditional zombie.

I need to check on my book because I can't remember if they ate brains or just flesh.

message 622: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1411 comments Finished Heir of Fire, so that will take care of the green cover..phew, took most of the afternoon, but I made it to the finishline=)

message 623: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Ooh, NICE!

Waiting for two new goals now. I've already filled out another two because we got T author and H author and already had them covered. :D

message 624: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments One of the new ones: Read a book where a character gets a makeover Anyone's finished books fit for this?

message 625: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Second new goal: Read a book with an exotic pet

message 626: by Annika (last edited Aug 27, 2015 01:57PM) (new)

Annika | 1744 comments Since we didn't use Catch my breath for green cover, we might b able to use it for make over. 5 ordinary boys to boy band wonder?

I have nothing for the pet, sorry.

message 627: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1411 comments I only have a dog in one of the books, and we have already used my make over book...

message 628: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 1677 comments There's a cat in One foot in the Grave, but that's not exactly an exotic pet. I can't really think of a book that will work. If a turtle would work as an exotic pet in Wait for You one of the main characters have a pet turtle. I just read it a couple of weeks ago though, but would highly recommend it to anyone interested.

message 629: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments I read it a month ago and it really is a good book :)

message 630: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments If anyone is going to read that I think we should probably ask first if it would count as exotic!

Personally, I would think that other book would work for makeover too, but I'm curious what everyone else thinks!

message 631: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments They did have an entire team to tell them what to do (or not) what to wear etc..

message 632: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1411 comments I think it works too, the goal doesn't specify which kind of make over.

message 633: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Works for me! I updated the goal and now I have to hop off the computer for a little bit. Silje can update while she's here, or I will be back in an hour or so. :)

message 634: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1411 comments We got the same goal again Read a book where the page numbers add to 4 (i.e. 345 pages =3+4+5=12)
I still have Taste of Darkness with 400pg, can try to finish that one before the end of the round.

message 635: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1411 comments This is what Kelly answered about zombies: I think zombies should eat brains and be undead people. I'm ok with them being called differently if they clearly fit the mold of the traditional zombie.
So I guess that means we can use one of the books we have?

message 636: by Annika (last edited Aug 27, 2015 02:55PM) (new)

Annika | 1744 comments In one foot in the grave Rodney eats all of the bodies, including the brain, so it should work

message 637: by Denise (last edited Aug 27, 2015 02:56PM) (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments I'm going to check on the description in mine in a little bit to see if it fits.

Honestly, I wouldn't normally count ghouls as zombies. They're generally a separate thing, I think they're technically demons or spirits of some sort and not actual people brought back to life, though they do eat humans. Different authors describe them differently though, so if the Night Huntress books describe them as an actual human who was brought back to life we could use it. If he's just referred to as a ghoul he was probably never human so wouldn't be a zombie.

message 638: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments I think mine (Archangel's Kiss) should work - the Reborn are humans brought back to life who have to eat people to keep their forms.

message 639: by Annika (new)

Annika | 1744 comments Yes in Night Huntress they are humans brought back to life by swapping hearts with another ghoul after death.

message 640: by Denise (last edited Aug 27, 2015 03:05PM) (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Okay, maybe use that book then. We have two books in that series and I think Archangel's Kiss had a couple of the words/phrases that are in other goals. Either is fine with me. If Silje went offline I can update it when I get back home! :)

message 641: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Finished The Andromeda Strain, 327 pages. I don't think I have any books for the goals, but I will look.

message 642: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments I don't have any books which fall in page count total 4 goal.

message 643: by Delta (new)

Delta (sicname) Hmm. Would Luggage count as an exotic pet? I have Eric and Luggage is basically a pet: follows Rincewind around, eats everything, has a tongue...

message 644: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 151 comments Luggage?! Lol... That's funny

message 645: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Hahaha! I'll ask about the Luggage. I've read enough Discworld that IMO it should count but I will let you know what they say. ;)

message 646: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Next up: Read a book that is ranked 301-400 in bestsellers on book depository ()

message 647: by Brittney (new)

Brittney | 655 comments Denise I finished Keeper of the Bride for the K Goal. I'm on my phone so you will have to get the link from my shelf.

message 648: by Denise (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Will do, thanks Brittney!

This team is killing it with goals today! :D

message 649: by Denise (last edited Aug 27, 2015 04:28PM) (new)

Denise (kitsune816) | 1647 comments Next up: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a boat or other ocean vessel

EDIT: If anyone needs a fairly short one for this, Death on the Nile would work. I only read it in April so it wouldn't count for me even if I wanted to reread it already. ;)

message 650: by Emily (last edited Aug 27, 2015 06:26PM) (new)

Emily Kelsall (emilythebooknerd) | 1388 comments I finished Magic Shifts. Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8) by Ilona Andrews 352 pages. Kate is both a mercenary and an investigator in this one.
If the Luggage doesn't work for exotic pet (which it certainly should, IMO), Kate's dog in this turns into a hell hound, so we could ask if that would work.

I'll start Eleanor & Park next, which is #322 on Book Depository at the moment. However, I can't promise to finish it by the end of the round because I have a buddy read starting tomorrow, so if anybody else wants to take that goal before then, that's great too.
