Hey there, newcomer! :-) Please, read this before you begin

I think it would be good if Emma decided on a few extra moderators she trusted to help her manage the group. Specific threads, working on what Ash said, would be a brilliant idea for working towards a cleaner, tidier looking group. Possible thread titles could include:
â– Introductions = a place where all the members can post a message about themselves, basically as an introduction, and a little bit of an "about me" section.
â– Chatting = a general discussion area where people can talk freely about whatever they wish.
â– Questions = where moderators can answer questions from the members if it has something to do with the group.
â– Suggestions = obviously, we need a place to suggest books, so people could group all of their suggested titles here as well as a brief description of each book, or a post of the story synopsis.
Folder ideas would be titled after whatever threads were in the folder. General would be for the aforementioned ideas for threads, and each month, a new folder could be made for the book everyone read. Threads which could go in that could include Discussions about the books, Debates about certain aspects within the book, Issues where we can discuss the gender equality issues we read about and how to solve them, and Problems, wherein you can talk about the negatives of the book.
These are all only ideas, and I do not want to sound like I know it all or that I know what I am doing. I just agree with Ash in that this group has really exploded and the thread number is sky rocketing every hour.

Savannah, your ideas are brilliant! I only hope this is actually possible to implement an architecture like this.

Thank you for taking care of this! There really should be more than one moderator. I'd love to be of help! The folders you suggested seem reasonably, although I'd add one thread for feminism itself. There have been loads of questions (including my own) on the topic and you just can't file it under 'chatting' or 'questions'.

I agree. ^^ I wrote that on the app, so I was not able to really list all of my ideas and such. There are folders involving the books, which could be named after the month, and then I think having a folder for the countries would be an interesting discussion area. Labeling threads such as "Feminism/Equality in Australia" or "Feminism/Equality in Korea" would be something to pique my interest. There are many aspects of feminism and equality which can be enjoyed here, I just hope the full potential is utilized.

Also , I love the idea of having threads for feminism in different parts of the world (as suggested by Savannah and Lisa Maria)

a question tough. I'm not new to goodread but new to goodread groups : can topic creators delete the topic they created or is it only the moderator who can delete ? Because i'm sure we could reduce the number of topic !!!

I totally agree! It's too much work to do for one person.
I just fear that it may become too much for Emma to handle, but I am sure she is capable of knowing how to handle her group. ^^ I am excited to see her thoughts on the book she chose, though I also fear that, when it comes time for her to discuss it with everyone, I will miss her post as well as the conversation under the sea of notices I am getting.

Thanks, but I still need help in getting into things a bit.
Hello, Pakhi. It is great to see more people in the group! Ash just edited their first comment, and it contains some links and tips for new members who need some guidance. I would explain it, but Ash has done a great job all on their own, so just scroll up and take a gander!

I've just updated the starting point of this thread so it more informative and friendly now. Feel free to suggest anything for it!
A question for those who more familiar with this site: can moderator actually pin a thread so it will be always floating on the top? It would be very handy

Thankyou so much!

And.. its Pakhi!

By getting into it, I meant understanding what was actually going around here. I just got here, and it all seemed pretty confusing.

Unfortunately, only a moderator can mark a topic as "important" to mark it above the rest. Though I do think your comment is a really important one for everyone to see! I think we will just have to keep bumping it up for the new comers. ^^

Yes, topic starters can delete topics they created.

I understand. ^^ My first name is something people always misspell (even doctors and nurses), therefore I just go by my second name to most people.

This topic has been frozen by the moderator. No new comments can be posted.
The structure of this board is in progress, so it's a bit messy here and fairly easy to get lost. This topic is to help you navigate through all this!
Here is a list of links you can find useful:
- Introduction: here you can introduce yourself and meet other people
- Books suggestions: if you have an idea about another great book or two for this shelf, please share it in this thread
- Book Suggestions - Book Titles Only: great and constantly updating list of books already suggested by community (look for a link in the first comment)
- What is feminism: here we discuss the term "Feminism" itself
- Why did YOU become a feminist?: tell us your story!
- Intersectionality: a very important part of feminism and gender equality
- LGBT Topics: and this one of course
- What to do if you cannot afford to buy a book a month and Tumblr and book exchange: some useful advices on how to get a book
Emma's topics - the actual goal of this board:
1. First Book!! My Life on the Road, By Gloria Steinem
Note: this list is constantly updating, and many interesting things will be added down the road
There is a lot of different topics out there, so if these aren't your case - just look for the right place for your things and thoughts, created by another person, there is very likely to be one! More than that: chances are, there is already a discussion about topic you're interested in, where you will be heard. You can use the "search discussion posts" on the right side of the page.
If there is no such a place - well, feel free to create another topic, but create it for everyone, not only for yourself! Make sure that anyone else can share his/her similar this and that inside of it. By this, you will make everyone just happy!
Important: if you just created a topic and immediately discovered that there is another one already started by someone, and your thread is an obvious duplicate, please consider removing it. Just click on a small link "edit" on top of the page with your topic, right after its title, and then "delete this topic". We are just about to drown in new topics, so any help with addressing this issue would be very very appreciated!
These rules can save a lot of effort we are about to put in this community. And they are very, very simple to follow. We rely on your conscientiousness!
Remember: it is our, member's, duty to keep this space as clean, transparent and flat as possible. This group is about to be really huge, and everyone has something to say or suggest, so following these simple guidelines will introduce a system in this board for further ease of discussing things and developing a solid understanding for everyone.

This is the original post, just left it for no reason
Okay, folks, let's stop messing this group up. We are all very excited, but 60+ topics in 7 hours, are you serious? And this is when the whole Europe is still sleeping, and North America is just going to bed. If we will continue our flooding practice, this place will quickly become an unmanageable mess with dozens of duplicated topics where any newcomer will be simply lost. There is no discussion in such a place, only a noise. The whole community won't be able to reach its goals anymore - and this is definitely not what we want.
Remember: it is our duty to keep this space as clean, transparent and flat as possible. This group is about to be really huge, and everyone has something to say or suggest, so we definitely should introduce some system in it for further ease of discussing things and developing a solid understanding.
Here are quick suggestions:
1. You come up with some brilliant idea of a new book for this shelf. Or just has something to say, there is a lot actually. This is great! But don't start a new topic for it. Just don't, this is a very bad idea. Instead, thoroughly look for a topic that has been already started by another person and contains similar things and thoughts. There is very likely to be one, and, chances are, there will be a discussion you are interested in. Let's put things in right places, for sake of all of us. This is the only right way to be heard!
2. If you still can't find such a right place for all the things and thoughts of yours, then okay - create one. But create it for everyone, not only for yourself! Make sure that anyone else can share his/her similar this and that inside of it. By this, you will make everyone just happy.

And, being myself following these rules, I leave this topic to be a space for any community administration issues. Here, we can suggest some things everyone should think about (at least), related to desired/undesired behavior in this group. (hide spoiler)]
