O - Olympics!
B - Battleship!
Battleship Rules

First:
- mark the book as read
- make sure it is on your wobble challenge bookshelf
Then post the book in the team thread (the one you're reading now) using the following format:
Book cover
Book name and author
Date read
Number of pages
The square you're reading for
How the book fits the task
Once you do that:
- bask in your own awesomeness
- start your next book :)

The Support Sprint mini-game is live!
Cheer on your fellow sprinters with a sprint of your own - details at the link above.

I'm Kazen, an American living in Kyoto, Japan. I'm so excited to be your captain this Wobble! I'm a medical interpreter, helping English-speaking patients communicate with their Japanese doctors. My job takes me all over, and commutes equal reading time, yea! I love romance, non-fiction, and regular ol' fiction, and recently I've been getting into more books in translation. I'm looking forward to meeting all you guys and rocking the competition! :D
eta: I made it back in time to friend everyone, yea! We have a combination of North Americans and Australians/Asia people here, so I'll leave it to you NAers to gab away until the rest of us wake up. ;) Yea Wobble!

Land teams mini challenge
Just for Fun! While waiting for wobble to start
Books with a READ date of June 8-16 and 100 pages or more count.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
To Play:
Read books with:
- Land animals in the title (max. 2 per book) for 20 points each
- Land animals in the book as characters (max. 5 per book) for 10 points each
- Land animals mentioned in the book (max. 5 per book) for 5 points each
- Land animals on the cover for 10 points (max. 5 per book)
BONUS: Read a book that someone on a different land team has read for 20 points!
Notes:
*Shapeshifters DO count.
*If a land animal is being claimed as a character, it can not also be counted as a "mention".
*When reading a book a team member from another land team has read, it may have a read date before or during this mini challenge
You CAN mix and match for lots of points.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
For example:

Land animals in the book as characters (Derek-wolf, Curran-lion, Jim - Jaguar, Andrea - Hyena, Barabas - Mongoose): 50 points
Land animal (lion) on the book: 10 points
Bonus: Someone {name} on Land team {name} has read for 20 points
So my book is worth 80 points! (50+10+20)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Remember: This is NOT for Wobble points, it is just for fun and to get to know your fellow Land team players.
Land teams are:
Slender Loris
Tapir
Red Panda
Plumed Basilisk

I'm Kate, from the Philippines. I'm so excited for WOBBLE because team challenges are so much fun and makes me excited to read books. I love horror, thriller/mystery, and YA books, although I'm open to discovering other genres. I also enjoy watching TV shows and I can't wait for the next season of the Walking Dead!
Fun fact: I'm getting married this June 16th! :)
So excited to meet all of you. Let's have fun!

I'm Pragya from India, I mostly read YA, though I'm open to other genres as well. The only other challenge I've done with NRBC is Tower Teams 4 which was quite fun, so I have high expectations from this one too.
@Kate: Congratulations!!

I have only done one team challenge before (Around the World), but enjoyed it a lot. I will need the team motivation to get one book a week! I love reading all kinds and am always looking for new books to read. Can't wait to get started :-)
Congratulations Kate!

Also, I went to the Brookfield zoo in Illinois this year and saw a red panda! They are adorable and my boyfriend's favorite animal!

We seem to be a very STEM/medical career heavy team. :)

I am one of your co-captains helping out Kazen with this awesome team challenge. I have done a few team challenges before and I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and getting some great books read over the next 4 months.
And keeping with the STEM theme - I work as a process analyst with a finance company :)

My name is Riah and I am originally from Hawaii and have been there for my entire life until May of this year when I moved to the east coast of the U.S. I m expecting my first child in September and currently have 3 fur babies. I love reading all kinds of books from horror to non fiction. This is my first actual challenge and I am excited! Can't wait to discuss and read with you all.

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't been able to get back to the thread until now! Today I had an emergency patient so I spent six hours interpreting at a hospital two hours away from my house. :/ But I'm back and can answer questions and things again, yea! Big happy post incoming....

Pragya - I hope you get to see some red pandas the next time you get to visit a zoo! I know I had a cute video around here somewhere, let me see if I can find it... aha! Red pandas in snow!
Hmm, I can't embed so click here:
Lory - Motivation will be our middle name, so no worries! I love the kick in the pants that team challenges offer. :) And finding new books to read is great, too! What have you read and liked lately?
Under the Wire Ella - Congrats on signing up just in time! Exams though, yuck. Is there a particular test you're especially not looking forward to?
(...I know that's weird English, but I think you understand what I mean...)
~gulps some tea to see her through to Part 2~

Tori - Congrats on busting your reading slump! This challenge make sure it doesn't return for, oh... 18 weeks. ;) I'll be reading romances along with you, yea! What kind of romance subgenres do you like? Historical, contemporary, paranormal... lately I've been deep in the historicals. :)
Melissa - We're so happy to have you for your first group challenge! It sounds like the genres you like will balance nicely with the rest of the group. :) I'm not a huge horror fan but I'm always willing to give something a try - have you read anything recently that you can recommend?
Rose and Margaret - co-captain high five! ~high five sound~
(Did I mention that I interpreted for six hours today and may be a bit addled in the brain? Moving on...)
Riah - Another first challenge person, yea! Moving from Hawaii to the East Coast must have been quite a shock... what do you like best about your new home, and what from Hawaii do you miss the most? (Can I guess food? I know I miss "proper" American food while I'm here in Japan...)
Sydney - Congrats on entering high school! Is it a new building/place or do you just continue on where you are now? And you have plenty to do this summer - read and chat with us, of course! ;)
Re: spreadsheet - yes, there is a spreadsheet. Let me make sure I have the right link before I post it along with reporting instructions. :)

i don't like British poetry or any poetry really but that's already done. i like novels and drama. i dont exactly have any unpleasant papers left. only German and aural viva left (though i get nervous and strt forgetting my answers during aural exams hehe)

I saw the video! Damn, red pandas are cute. (From me, that's a huge deal because usually I can't stand most animals.) (Yep, I really don't like animals. Most people are very surprised to hear that.)

I'm Sam, from Vietnam. I go to school in Karuizawa, Japan though I'm enjoying my summer break back in my hometown. I read pretty much everything, but Historical Fictions intimidate me sometimes... My favourite is perhaps Fantasy.
Nice to get to know you all. I bet I'm amongst the youngest in this team :)
PS: Kate - Congratulations!

I tend to read a lot of fantasy and young adult books. I am also working on finishing Champion by Maria Lu and Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness. Also pretty good.
I do have a question (sorry for the long post!). What is the deal with the shelf we had to make for this. Is the idea that is where we put the books to read? Still new at the challenges so trying to figure everything else.
Thanks in advance!

Kazen: I have been in the mood for contemporary and paranormal romance lately. I'm 100 pages away from finishing my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book. I actually love it! I reread bared to you the other day because I don't remember what happens and I still have not read captivated by you. I have a work book and an at home book. My work book this week is This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. She used to be one of my favorite authors and her books need to be read in the summer! I have not given historical romance it's fair shot (besides Pride and Prejudice), but if you have any juicy suggestions, I'm all ears!
Lory and Pragya: The Legend Series by Maria Lu is one of my favorite series of all time! I have never felt so many conflicting feelings in all of my life. I recommend that series to all of my friends. If you haven't you should give the Darkest Mind's series a go when you are done!

We opted for a simple wedding, but our colors are like this:

I didn't know it can be really stressful to plan a wedding! Can never do it alone. :(

Ooh, pretty!

Pragya: Really you didn't like them? Maybe I'm reading the wrong YA books, but they were so unique.
Since we're all YA experts, has anyone read the Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout? I finished the first one last week and just got the second one. I can't tell if it's YA or not. It's like a more adult version of Vampire Academy.

Whoos, I didn't like VA too much either, I liked bloodlines much better.
It's not the wrong books, we probably just have very different tastes :P

i actually just reread the whole crossfire series last month bfr i read one with u- the last bk in the series. really liked the series even though a lot of ppl criticized it a lot.

p.s i normally post book names as Iinks but ryt now im using the app (which i use sometimes but then edit my msgs latr when i use my comp)

To be fair though, EVERYONE says they love Cassandra Claire's Infernal Devices series more than the Mortal Instruments series and I did not care for the the Infernal Devices books at all and loathed the ending. Thus, maybe I have bad taste in books =]. (I usually read the books for the love story =])

pragya, even i LOVE comparing books. infact when i recieve a frnd reqst thats the first thing i do. i hate that the app doesnt allow that feature.

There isn't any bad taste, to be honest. And while we're on Cassandra Clare, I used to LOVE her 3 years ago, when I first read TMI, TID, the lot. But now? She isn't that great. There are much better authors. The only thing she really excels at is character building. That's why people (and me) get so attached to her world. For example, I would sell my soul for malec, or any Herondale. Do the really exist? No. But because of the way they've been written, in my life, they do.

OMG YES I DO THE SAME I used to think I was the only one but I'm just so curious about what people like to read.
