2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)

I'm so excited to start another round of bingo! I can captain if no one else wants to. Names are not my strong suit, but here are a few ideas based on some of my favorite series.
Aspen Creek Bards or Bards of Bingo (Briggs' Alpha and Omega)
Lakeside Ladies or Lakeside Librarians (Bishop's Others)
Friends of the Folly (Aaronvitch's Peter Grant)
Cutting Edge Critics (Andrews' Kate Daniels)

Week 0: Free Space
Book:

How it Fits: Option 2 - #54 on Best of YA Fantasy List

Thank you Deanna for taking over as captain!
As for team names I like Lakeside Librarians, or Cutting Edge Critics.

I have played most rounds and won a few so you never know, hopefully we get lucky with the shelves and find some amazing books to read :)

Top choices are:
Cutting Edge Critics
The Exploding Fluffballs
Lakeside Librarians
with Cutting Edge Critics getting three votes. Shall we go with that for our name?

But I am still obsessing over Kate Daniels (withdrawal will start as soon as I'm done with the short stories, I'm sure) so love Cutting Edge Critics.
Wow Michelle, you've actually won a couple times?? That's awesome! I think this is only my 4th time playing & I don't think I've even gotten close. Luck of the draw really but maybe this will be our time!

I have played on winning teams on four rounds, 6 and 7 and then I captained rounds 14 and 15 to a win :) mr randomiser looked favourably on me those rounds. I'm sure other people have won more though. I have played most rounds I think.

4 wins is pretty impressive, I don't think there is anyone with more than that, but without checking I could be wrong.

Book: One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews
How it fits: Option 3

Review:
Although he never actually appears in the book, it amazes me how much impact the manipulative Arbitrator George has on the plot. First helping Maud get a message to her sister Dina asking for help, and then sending the Hiru to request use of her inn to ask a question of the Archivarius to save their people. Nearly all the plot development stems directly from these two actions.
I loved the slow and steady development of the relationship between Dina and Sean as well as the possibility of one for Arland and Maud. Helen was hilarious...(view spoiler)
This book has everything I love about Ilona Andrews stories: well developed characters and world building; a seamless blend of action, humor, and everyday events; and plenty of plot twists to keep me guessing. This will definitely go on my reread list.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I have had this book on my TBR for a very long time. The beginning was very slow, and a little hard to get into. We don't really know much going in except that the MC has just returned from Hell. I think the lay out of this book is also weird, there are no chapter breaks. It is just one long continuous stream. I found it frustrating when I wanted to break up my reading, because I couldn't stop at chapters which is what I normally do. Do I think this book is the most original? No. I kind of get a noir mystery supernatural vibe from this book. This book didn't wow me, but I also didn't hate it. I just feel kind of meh about it. Don't know if I'll continue with the series.

Book: Taming Chaos by Anna Carven

Date Read: 9/17/2018
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
Taming Chaos is the first book in Carven's Darkstar Mercenaries, which follows her original Dark Planet Warrios series. I loved the original series and all of the First Division warriors, so I'm thrilled that the new series continues with the remaining unmated warriors.
Torin is an alpha and one man army like all the other First Division members, but he also enjoys studying other cultures. I loved that he originally followed the humans at the black market station because he felt they were in way over their heads. Seph's character wasn't really as well developed as I usually expect from this author, and the relationship development seemed a bit rushed. Still there was plenty of action, and the introduction of the Bartharran culture was intriguing. I would like to have seen more chapters about their time on Batharra before returning to Earth. Still, I will definitely continue with the series.

Sorry gang, work has been so busy the last week, 3 late nights and working over the weekend so I haven't gotten much reading done. I'm a little more than halfway thru my Military book and only a quarter thru my Free Space. I'll catch up by this weekend!

AHHHH I didn't know there was another one in the works! I thought this was the end of this series. I might give it a go online just because that last one had me wanting more.

This is listed as #3.5 but not because it is novella size, its because its Maud & Arland & not Dina & the Inn.

I think I came too late to this series, I feel like it really didn't do much for me compared to other books I've read and loved better. Maybe if I read it when I first bought it, I would have had a better opinion.

Review:
So I'm a little unsure how I feel.
On the one hand I loved Chaol in Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight, but then was so disappointed in his attitude and actions in Queen of Shadows so was hoping for him to majorly redeem himself. I did like him when he wasn't feeling sorry for himself/feeling guilty over the past or acting like a jackass, and I was really hoping that (view spoiler)
Also I did NOT know that this huge (over 600 page) penultimate novel was going to be focused ENTIRELY on Chaol and Nasrin. I mean Seriously? The 2nd to last book and you're going to take us to a different continent with secondary characters for the entire book and only focus on them?!?! I like these characters but after the way Empire of Storms ended, all the emotion, all the high, all the action, I expected so much more! I was bored part of the time and wondering what relevance it played in the whole series, and was waiting for those scenes with our original gang (which didn't come until the very brief last one).
On the other hand, we met some new allies and there were a couple major revelations. BUT that could've been found out/written in a book of a much smaller size so why the author published these books in this manner is beyond me. She would've done better to add some of these chapters in with Empire of Storms, seeing as how this story occurred during the same time, so it kept the story and action going and was more cohesive.
Anyways, I can't wait to get back to the actual Throne of Glass gang and can't wait to find out how this series will end!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review:
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and sat down expecting to read about the MC taking down bad guys while avoiding the group after him. I did not expect him to get kidnapped a few chapters in and have such a hard time escaping against opponents who were clearly less skilled. It felt like he was making one error after another and running in circles most of the time. As a result I found a good portion of the book frustrating and seemingly out of character based on my expectations.
I did enjoy the chapters of Evan's memories and learning more of his background, and the additions to the background of the Orphan assassin program were interesting as well. The last portion of the book finally had the action that I was looking for, but even then I felt like he was making mistakes that were out of character. I expect better from the former elite assassin after his showing in the first book.
Overall I gave it four stars because once it finally caught my attention I couldn't put it down and I love the MC. Still it was a bit disappointing after the first book although I'll still continue with the series.
