Human skull will do as well.
Human skull will do as well.

That’s fine :)
That’s fine :)

For example, Once More for Love: Blithe Images / Search for Love by Nora Roberts was published in 2016 but it is made up of two of her works that were published in 1982. Would I be able to use this for that task?

The group points formula states =if(sum(G20:G23)=120, 120, "") when it should be =if(sum(G20:G25)=180, 180, "").
The group bonus points also has an error. The formula states =if(J10=160, 60, "") when it should be =if(J10=180, 60, "").

It should be the exact same word.
It should be the exact same word.

Yes.
Yes.

No, you can only use the letters as often as they appear in the word. So once for P, as in your example.

I would like to add to Katie's question to make it more general. For multiple authors, must the qualification apply to all authors or at least one?

I'm going to say no because the task isn't "first published" and the edition you are reading is published in 2016

Let's say that those that are actually 'solving crimes for living' aka not doing some other work like owning bookstore or catering. :)

I think where there are multiple authors / a pseudonym of two authors then you can only really use it for the task if all the authors fit into this category (i.e. all not born in the US, Canada or UK)

OK, I think I understand this except that you give Miss Marple as an example of doing it for a living.
Does this mean that you don't read much Miss Marple or that the fact that she doesn't do anything for a living makes her count? Because she definitely doesn't generate income from solving mysteries and I don't think she considers herself to be working at it. I guess sometimes people will ask her for help -- is that enough to qualify? That they are known in the story more for their detecting than for anything else?
So I knew that answer would generate more questions...
I’ve been struggling with a migraine and so I’ll admit that the answer was copied from Tea in our mods group (who does read a lot of Marple) as I couldn’t think too much.
How about I remove her as an example and say it needs to be your actual job. Otherwise I think there will be a zillion questions to come 😉

Google says sometimes yes and sometimes no.
I think it depends on if the inspector in the book fits the definition of detective - i.e someone who looks for evidence as part of solving a crime

if i have a middle grade book that is not on arbookfind but does have an audio version that is over 3 hours can i verify the length that way or do i need the definitive word count?

It has. This is Message 57.

Thanks. I think I got it in my head that it was first published not the pub date of the specific edition. Thankfully I found a different book of hers that I have with a pub date in the 80's, so all good.

Plurals are ok (unless a specific task says they aren't), but not modified forms of the word (such as -ed ; -ing)

But many PIs do solve crimes for a living.
Some of their cases may be cheating spouses, sure, but they can also be hired -- for a living -- to solve crimes that police haven't been able to solve or can't spend enough time on. Sometimes they even work alongside, or concurrently with, the police.
ETA: I have even seen "Private Investigator" as synonymous with "Private Detective". Like "Private Eye" v "Private Dick".
So I guess what I'm saying is, so long as the character is a professional PI/PD with that as their main or only source of income, why would that not count?

My comment wasn't saying that PIs don't count, just to use the definition. It depends on the character so I don't want to make a blanket yes/no based on a job title when really it is down to is the character and if they are 'solving crimes for living'

I have a book that has no page #s on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, and no page #s listed on the Amazon listing. I've read it, and it has over 3000 locations on the Kindle. Is there a way to use it? I could ask the author about it in her Facebook group, but it's a secret group and you wouldn't be able to access the link/answer without being in the group. :)
