MountainKat | 30535 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 11, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

message 10: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2464 comments Hi everyone! I have been waiting for this challenge since last round when MKat said she would host again. I grabbed some posts to track but if anyone else would like to that would be okay with me.

Maybe I’ll do a quickie introduction. I’m in Canada, east coast. Small town. I love going into the city but enjoy my small town. I love hiking, kayaking, badminton and bowling and of course reading. Both my badminton play and bowling league are delayed starts due to COVID-19.
I read a variety of genres and can’t nail down a favourite as it often depends on my mood. I’m a moody reader and may change my books a few times. I’m happy to play with you all again.

Are we going with Kendall Ryan for task 1?

message 13: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 1965 comments Hi everyone! I'm Aiswrya (Aish-war-ya) I live in New Jersey. So, Eastern Time. This is my second time playing this challenge and I'm so excited! I'm playing two other team challenges at the moment, so I'm going to multi-task as much as I can ;-)

I mostly read romances, almost all tropes under romance. I read the occasional adventure novel, maybe some light mysteries and suspense. I stay clear of horror and pysch-thrillers. I'm also a moody reader, so I'd love it if we could make very broad selections for tasks that requires all of us to read a common theme :)

I do love a chatty team, so I might ramble a lot :P I love that Kat has a review requirement in the completion posts now. Would love to hear your thoughts on the books :) Okay, I'll stop now. Happy weekend everyone!

Aiswrya | 1965 comments Okay my choices:
Author - Kendall Ryan works for the first task. My other choices are Nalini Singh and Nora Roberts.
1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.

Sub-genres, genres, tropes: My picks are contemporary, historical, fantasy
33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide
70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.
79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.

Lists:
56. As a team, pick a list with over 100 romance books on it, each member reads a book from that list. No pass for this task - Best Romance Books Ever
93. As a team, pick a Romance List from GR Listopia with less than 100 books on it, each teammate reads a book from that list. No pass for this task.

Series: I like Laura's suggestions - Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh or any Jill Shalvis. Both are my favorites!
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.

Recs by teammates
12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task: My recommendations shelf
99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them: I have so many favorites, but here are a few -
The Duchess War (Brothers Sinister, #1) by Courtney Milan , A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas , The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune , Kulti by Mariana Zapata , Rhapsodic (The Bargainer, #1) by Laura Thalassa

Teammate details:
53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task: New York City for me
58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate - I joined in 2020
72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate: My birth decade is 1990
74. Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month - December
91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long. No pass for this task - I was born in 92

Random stuff
27. Read a minimum of 750 pages in books published in any one year prior to 2018, team picks the year - I honestly have no preference. But I would say something in the more recent times. 2015?
29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession - I'm okay with whatever the majority is
49. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task - again, I'm cool with the majority. But if everyone feels the same way (LOL), I'm going to randomly pick Dec 2015
50. Read 6 books set in the same location, teams decide the location - there are tons of romances set in California, NYC, Vegas. Pick one of these? Since it says location, I think we can even pick broader locations like countries :)
52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color - Any color works, though black will probably be easiest to come by
54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which - mountains would be my pick
55. Read 6 books set in the same country outside the US, teams decide country - Britain would be the easiest to find books for!
75. Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter (no articles), teams decide letter. - Ha I'm indifferent. I'm okay with whatever everyone decides
76. Read 6 books with a specific item on the cover, team selects item - this link is very helpful for cover challenges: /list/tag/cover
88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which. - I think boat is the easiest to come by
90. Each member reads a book published in sequential months, i.e. June, July, August and September 2019. Teams decide which months. No pass for this task - I can't imagine anyone having a preference here - I'm going to pick Dec, though I'm flexible
92. Read over 1500 pages in books set in the future or the past - teams decide - past? Future would turn into too much scifi
94. Read 6 books published in sequential years, teams decide years - again, no preference.
95. As a team, select an animal. Read 8 books tagged with that animal. - wolves will be the easiest choice since we can then read any wolf shifter romance (though this is my least favorite PNR trope!)
96. Read a minimum of 1200 pages with the sun or the moon on the cover, teams decide which - moon? Reminds of sleeping :P

Megan | 990 comments Hello hello!

Just checking in, I've been moving my friend out of her house all day. Literally haven't stopped or eaten all day. Its just 6pm and I'm finally home, we started at 9am.

I'll try and do my preferences tomorrow or later this evening, my hands and head hurt too much!! But maybe after some dinner and rest I'll be able to think better!!

Mini Intro: I'm from the UK so currently on BST time. First time playing this challenge but very excited to give this a go. I'm a huge romance reader even if I stray its usually always paranormal/fantasy and romance. Oh I do read cosy mysteries from time to time.

Personally for first task I'm happy with Kendall Ryan.

Laura | 2464 comments I moved the tasks from post 15 ( and my answers) -which I deleted and added them to post 11. I 've included Aiswrya's preferences too and I 'll add Megan & Alicia's once they chime in.

I found last round if you can get some of the decisions made prior to the task being announced you don't have to spend half a day or more waiting for someone to chime in especially as Megan is in the UK.

AliciaJ | 1865 comments Hi all, I just got off work and wanted to pop in and see what's happening 😊

Let's see, I'm in the Pacific Northwest, up by the Oregon border, but still in California (PST time zone). We are currently being ravaged by wildfires all around us, but so far my area is still safe. We've got smoke everywhere, but no fires yet thank god.

I love the names you put out there Laura! All of them are great, but I really like Rainbow Warriors and Book Babes.

As far as reading, I'm a slut basically LOL. I'll read just about anything, even some horror if it's done right. Mostly though, I'm a romance nut, in all of its various sub-genres. I also love mysteries and fantasy.

I'm also fine with Kendall Ryan as the author we all read.

I'm going to write up all of my preferences and make a recommendation shelf like Aiswrya did. I'll make a separate post for all of it.

I liked Book 2 ok, but the first book was the best. There was also a little short story called Epic. Did you read that one? It was pretty good.

I also like Sarina's Brooklynaire series. They're great if you love hockey stories, which I really really do! LOL

The ravenels were great too! I wouldn’t mind rereading Pandora’s story. She my favorite. I didn’t enjoy The Hathaways As much, so I’d prefer not to read that. In Death and psy-Changeling are a big yes!

Between car and motorcycle, I pick motorcycle.

I read Red, White & Royal Blue last year I think. It was pretty good. It did get really political and started to drag for me a little bit, but overall I liked it.
