MountainKat | 30422 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. πŸ˜‰

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Team Tasks & Info:
(view spoiler)

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Hello Team! My name is Cynthia, I am originally from Spain but I have been living in Manchester (UK) for almost 7 years. I am currently in the process of moving back to Spain but I am waiting for the COVID situation to improve so I can move all my things. In the meantime, I am working from home from Spain so my time zone is CET. This is my second time participating in this challenge and I really enjoyed it last time!

I usually read around 2-4 books per week, mainly romance but I also enjoy thrillers, fantasy and science fiction.

Anyone would like to be captain and any ideas for team names? I have reserved some spots at the top but I can delete all and repost so the person that will be captain can reserve the top ones.

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments Hey everyone! I'm Nayara from Brazil. Like Cynthia, this is my second time in this challenge and I love it! It's one of my favorites challenges so far.

I love reading romance books (specially paranorrmal and fantasy) and it's my go-to genre usually, although my goal for this year is to read other things like horror/thriller/YA.

Cynthia, I have no problem with you being captain (if you it of couse πŸ˜‚)

I'm horrible with names but I'll think about something

message 12: by M (last edited Mar 11, 2021 08:00PM) (new)

M | 659 comments Hi there! I'm M and I live in California (pacific standard time). I am a Mama to two boys - our oldest is 11 today and our youngest turns 9 on Sunday :)
I have yet to do this challenge, but I did the Bachelor challenge last round and loved it. So I had to try this one out too!! I'm excited to play. I don't want to be captain lol.

I read most romance tropes. The only ones I'm not into are PRN/fantasy, historical and MM. I will read if needed for the challenge though. I read a lot of dark/bully/enemies to lovers. I also am a sucker for sports romances!!

I will think of some team names...

message 14: by M (new)

M | 659 comments A few name ideas:
Between the Covers
The Very Bookish Caterpillar
Happy Bookers

message 15: by Nayara (new)

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments I think we can decide some of the group tasks when the it is assigned (like read the same profession, the same sub-genre, sun or moon on the cover, etc). Planing so far ahead may not be useful because we sometimes don't know wich books are going to be available for us or what we are in the mood at the time.

But yes, we can give some informations right now that is going to help us, like:

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task. and 51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task. and 73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.

We could list some our favorites authors and we could see if we cana find someone that is a good option for everyone.

For mine, I can think of:
Sarah MacLean and Lisa Kleypas (historical)
Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole (PR/UF/Fantasy)
Kristen Callihan, Talia Hibbert, Kylie Scott, Christina C Jones (contemporary)
Katee Robert and Sierra Simone (erotic romance)
Nora Roberts (wild card for almost everything)

9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.

Maybe we need to explain more of what we like for this one. I can read almost everything but outside of paranormal and historical that are not M cup.of tea I can suggest Katee Robert's Wicked Villain series that I love and are quick reads (erotic), Stillhouse Lake bt Rachel Caine (thriller/mystery but not heavy on the romance side), Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott...

72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate. and 74. Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month.

We should inform our birthday and Cynthia can fix it in one of the reserved spaces so we can check quickly. Mine is 28/04/1988

99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them

My favorite books:

1. Indigo
2. Equivalent Exchange
3. Take a Hint, Dani Brown
4. Slave to Sensation
5. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

If you are ok with me tracking I will do that. For check-ins, it might be better to share it if you are ok as my time zone is different, so you don't need to wait for me if I am not around.

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Nayara wrote: "For the check in, can we agree that the last person to post a book for the task do it? That way we sabe time"

This is a great idea! I agree with that

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Ok, I think I am good now!

So, in this comment are listed all the tasks and I have added πŸ€ in front of every team task.

Here I have listed team info and all the team tasks. You can see tasks in bold where we have started discussions and I have added *** in front of the ones that a decision has been made.

For task: 53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.

In the previous round, Kat allowed us to use the state in the USA and countries for those not living there. She has not confirmed it yet for this round, but hoping we can use California, Illinois, Brazil, UK and Spain. If she says it has to be the town though, M and Nayara, do you live in any big city? If not we will have to go for Chicago.

See below tasks with decisions made:

***64. Read 6 books not set on a continent of a teammate. Space does not count - must be a real continent.
Africa, Asia, Antarctica or Australia
Cynthia: Europe
Nayara: South America
M: North America
Sexyladi: North America

***74. Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month.
Cynthia: Born in January. Can read for March and April.
Nayara: Born in April. Can read for March and January.
M: Born in January. Can read for March and April.
Sexyladi: Born in March. Can read for January and April.

***91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long. No pass for this task.
89 + 88 + 80 + 60 = 317 pages long
Cynthia: 1989
Nayara: 1988
M: 1980
Sexyladi: 1960

I have also added these years from our profiles:

58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
Cynthia: 2020
Nayara: 2019
M: 2020
Sexyladi: 2018

After we finish all the books of our task, we need to do a completion post and share the link on this thread to let Kat know that we are ready for the next assignment.

Here is an example from the last challenge:

This task I found very hard in the previous round and I was so happy we didn't get it ha! 9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task. I don't have any ideas at the moment. I will have a look at the series you suggested Nayara!

Gotcha, thanks!

For task 53 - I don't live in a large city.

I like the three of them! If I have to choose one I would say Between the Covers

It Ends With Us was the only book I've ever read by Coleen Hoover and it gut me. I need to read more of her books.

I don't think there's a book setting in my hometown that were published in English, so I'm out too.

And I also liked Between the Covers for the team name.

Thanks sexyladi! I will add that shelf for the recommendations task. Could you choose 5 books for the task that we need to choose only 5?

In terms of team names, we have two votes for Between the Covers and 1 for Happy Bookers. M, do you have any preference?

M | 659 comments I like Between the Covers.

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Great! 3 votes for Between the Covers, so I will ask Kat to update it

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Looking at what we all read, would you agree on Contemporary for the following task? It is the broadest one and easiest from what I can see.

33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments yes, I'm good with contemporary

Thank you! Updated the tracking post

Let us know if contemporary works for you for this task:
33. Read 6 books in the same sub-genre, teams decide.

Hope you are enjoying your vacation :)

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Kat has confirmed this for task 53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work), teams decide. No pass for this task.

Kat: If it is a big city like London or New York, it is easy enough, but you are free to use the state if the home town is in the US or country if outside of the US.

So I have updated the tasks to the below:
Cynthia: (UK), (Spain)
Nayara: (Brazil)
M: California (USA)
Sexyladi: Illinois (USA)

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš We got the first task!! We need to agree as a team what to pick, see below. I have no preference, I have books that work for all

Task 1: For EVERY TEAM!

With St. Patricks Day coming up, everyone is Irish! As a team select whether you are going to read books set in Ireland OR books with an Irish character OR books with a primarily green cover. Each teammate must read a book that fits the qualification selected, no pass for this task.

Please include the team selected qualification in your completion posts. Remember you need to include how you know your book qualifies! I need to know where to look to confirm your book, include any info or links as necessary. If choosing the primarily green cover, it needs to be over 50% green to be accepted. Don’t forget to use the first edition Kindle page count!

Nayara (nayalink) | 630 comments I'm going to read The Gathering that has green cover, is set in Ireland and has Irish characters. So I'll let you choose which qualification is better for you.

message 42: by M (new)

M | 659 comments I vote for Irish character... then location and lastly green cover.

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Great! Let's see what Sexyladi says. Irish character works for me so if she is ok we can go for that one.

message 44: by M (new)

M | 659 comments Ok if it ends up being Irish character, I plan to read (maybe audio) of Irish Crown

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš I think I am reading Darkfever which works for Irish character and set in Ireland. I am going to sleep, I will check tomorrow morning!

Ok! If you don't mind then, we go for Irish characters. I have found this list which I might go through and maybe change my book. You will need to double-check in the chosen book in the blurb or tags if it is tagged Irish or Irish-hero or Irish-heroine etc.

/list/show/1...

If you have any questions doubts give us a shout!

I will confirm my book later

βššβ™† Cynthia β™†βšš Thanks for confirming authors and contemporary! I will update that.
