Rating: 3.5 stars. I really should have read the Elemental Mysteries books again. I felt the missing info and events. But I loved the romance between Carwyn and Brigid.

Review: Really enjoyed this first book in this series. It centers on a feisty apple tree in a magical garden and house owned for generations by the Waverley family. Older sister, Claire has stayed in Bascom NC, in the family home using her mystical plants and talents to make dishes and treats for her catering business. Her long lost sister Sydney returns with her daughter Bay, running from Bay's abusive father to the home she ran away from many years earlier. The good: small town vibe with deep history of families and characters. Loved cousin Evanelle who distributes random items to people because she had a "feeling" that it will be needed in the near future. The town folk just think the Waverley women are eccentric and don't always treat them well. It takes the sisters a while to warm up to each other, and allow others into their lives because they are so guarded. The not so good: didn't care for Sydney's ex boyfriend from high school, very shallow and needed to get over himself. His mother in law was a piece of work. I listened to this in audio and pleasantly surprised that it was narrated by one of my favs, Susan Erickson (from JD Robb, In Death series). Its a very short series, but will definitely read the next book.

I didn't even think to look at other versions of the cover. Thank you!

Doesn’t it look like a stack of pancakes? The artwork is like a simplified print. Or is it something completely different than what I’m thinking?? Lol

Review:
I really liked Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison. I think my expectations were a little too high for this book. There were some creepy/unsettling moments, but mostly it was kind of boring. I wasn't that invested in the characters, and two out of the four friends mostly blended together to me. However, it was a quick read, and while it wasn't the best I didn't hate reading it.
